Hey Hackers! According to a , Twitter has partnered with eToro, a financial services company, to offer real-time prices for crypto/stocks and will allow users to trade those assets directly through eToro. CNBC report Starting April 13th, users will be able to view “market charts on an expanded range of financial instruments” and the ability to purchase those assets through the eToro service. Users can view real-time financial data by utilizing Twitter’s “cashtags” feature, which requires you to search for the ticker symbol of the desired asset and put a dollar sign in front of it. The user will then be presented with detailed price information, provided by a TradingView. Users can also choose to trade the selected asset by selecting “View on eToro” and then they will be redirected to the eToro site where they can engage in trading. Elon Musk has spoken recently about Twitter becoming “the biggest financial institution in the world”, and this certainly will help in that goal. The partnership with eToro allows Twitter to expand its offering of financial services, and increase user engagement, especially among the generally young users. “As we’ve grown over the past three years immensely, we’ve seen more and more of our users interact on Twitter [and] educate themselves about the markets. There is very high quality content, real-time content on financial analysis of companies and what’s happening around the world. We believe this partnership will enable us to reach those new audiences [and] connect better the brands of Twitter and eToro. With Twitter’s massive user base, this could significantly boost adoption of cryptocurrencies. DeFi, or decentralized finance is a $70 billion independent financial services industry. The core value of DeFi is independence from a centralized entity like a corporation or government, which brings the financial power back to the people. What is DeFi? Understanding decentralized finance can be challenging for those who are not familiar with the technology and the terminology used to describe it. Comparing it to a traditional bank is the easiest way to explain it. When you deposit money into your account, you are giving it to the bank. Yet Wes doesn’t believe that bots are currently much use for . trading cryptocurrencies “I don’t think crypto trading bots are useful, yet. Three major reasons: first, the technology isn’t advanced enough yet. Second, spreads and fees on cryptos are still fairly high compared to traditional markets. Third, there isn’t enough history or market activity for them to learn from. I also believe this will change over time, especially as institutions begin trading crypto”. Social media has become an attractive ecosystem of online scams, as it allows fraudsters to conveniently connect with users, and create an online persona, hidden behind a fake social media profile and awash with illicit investment content. A social love affair Currency trading platforms have become widely popular in recent years, allowing novice and veteran traders convenient access to forex markets from basically anywhere in the world. While there are dozens of online trading platforms now available on the digital marketplace, some of the best forex trading platforms include the likes of Pocket Option, Robo Forex, Exness and Tick Mill, among several others. Although there are obvious signs that some social media profiles may be fake, or even related to a scam, the easiest tell-tale sign being bad use of grammar, and stock photo images plastered across their profiles, the (FTC) reported that the number of romance scammers on social media has surged in recent years. Federal Trade Commission According to reports by the FTC roughly 77,000 people fell victim to romance scams last year, with an estimated $1.3 billion in reported losses. This resulted in a median reported loss of nearly $4,400 per person. Romance scammers promise their victims love, money, and endless happiness, but this comes at a price. Fraudsters typically identify their victim on social media, getting to know their every move and activity. They begin to spin a web of lies, making up stories as they go along, hoping to lure in their victims. FTC research showed that scammers typically turn to one of several lies, either their family member is sick or in the hospital and they need money to support them, or they need help with an important delivery, while they’re working on an offshore oil rig. Starting to sound familiar? Well, perhaps you remember the case of the Tinder Swindler, real name, Simon Leviev, who duped more than $10 million out of innocent women on the popular online dating app, Tinder, before disappearing into thin air. While Leviev might’ve turned to online dating, and promised his victims a world of luxury and love, trading and investment scammers are promising novice traders unheard-of strategies and methods that can help turn their investments into millions, almost overnight. Social media has become a gateway for scammers, as roughly 40% of victims reported that they have lost money to a romance scam through someone they met on social media, while 19% said that first contact was made on a website or app. Clone scams are now clone wars An investigation by the independent news and research platform, , revealed that social media scammers, those soliciting trading strategies and methods to their uninformed followers, are now impersonating well-known trading platforms on social media. Finance Magnates Their findings revealed that many of these platforms would typically provide users with trade information, signals, market research, and analysis. This would then further help traders to make more informed decisions, and build winning strategies. However, in some instances, the Finance Magnates team found that many of these platforms are often being impersonated by fraudsters, looking to reel in thousands of dollars in scams and fake promises. While some platforms, such as Plus+500 Official Signal, eToro Signals, and FXStreet Signals, among several others have existing profiles on social media platforms such as Telegram, many fraudsters will create imposter accounts with similar near-identical social media handles. Further investigation allowed them to notice that these fake forex signals typically offer free services, with fees and costs out of sight. Some guarantee a 99 percent profitability, while others can provide users with eight to ten different “Gold Signals” every day.’ One insider told journalists working on the investigation that these clone platforms are like mushrooms, as you begin to dismantle one, you realize that there are ten more ready to replace it. One fake platform promises a return of $15,000 with an investment of only $1,000 within five days. These returns are often exorbitant, and above anything even experienced and seasoned professionals can attain. Traders that make use of the best forex platforms, and seek to obtain legitimate signals and market analysis will typically need to sign up and pay for a subscription service provided by a trading platform. Even once they’ve signed up, and made their monthly subscription payments, these platforms will typically not guarantee any success from their services or signals. When a broker or financial advisor promises to double your money within a few days, with no risk of effort to you, you might find yourself caught up in a potential scam. “A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” Often scammers may look to exploit less-informed investors and novice traders. Scammers will typically advertise an investment opportunity as a “one in a million” opportunity, pushing you and others to invest in seemingly up-and-coming markets. These practices are common with more complex market segments, typically with things such as cryptocurrencies or technology. Scammers will take advantage of investors' limited knowledge of a specific security or investment, using their supposed experience in the market as a way to get someone to invest. While there are investment opportunities available in up-and-coming market segments, ensure that you are well-informed beforehand, and have conducted enough research before investing in anything you’re not clued up with. Cold Calls or Emails Investment companies and brokers won’t contact a potential client through a cold call or email, or even through social media for that matter. Any supposed broker that contacts you unsolicitedly might be a malevolent scammer, and you will need to be wary of these types of interactions. Look out for any suspicious messages, emails, or numbers that might have been trying to contact you over the last several weeks, and see whether you can report these contracts to the authorities. Minimal company information available Maybe you’ve stumbled across an investment broker or opportunity that promises a seemingly good deal, however, after doing a bit of digging online, and asking around, you begin to find that there is limited information about the company available online. Any brokerage company or investment firm will need to be registered with the necessary regulatory authorities within your country in order to freely operate. In the United States, the (FINRA) oversees the U.S. broker-dealers. The (SEC) is another not-for-profit government organization that oversees financial securities and investments. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Securities and Exchange Commission Make sure that you do a thorough investigation on any broker or company beforehand, and see whether you can find a broker number that may be linked to either FINRA or SEC. Misleading customer testimonials Another red flag to look out for is misleading or often false customer testimonials. Some scammers will set up fake accounts on social media or search engines to generate fake customer testimonials. This is usually done to promote their products and services and seem more legitimate to uninformed customers. While there is little guarantee that this might be possible, it’s worth the effort. Additionally, you want to close off any of your bank accounts, and block for added security. While it’s advised to provide minimal banking and financial information via phone, ensure that you protect your accounts against any further potential risks. Make sure that you inform the bank of the incident, and ensure that they monitor your account for any suspicious activity. access to your credit cards Collect all necessary information Next, you want to collect as much information as possible, including any names, contact numbers, email accounts, or social media handles. This information can be used to either help track the person responsible for the scam or be used to add to a database. Report the incident Following the incident, make sure that you report the scam to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) online at . Additionally, you can contact your local state consumer protection office, and provide them with any information you have available. Make sure that you provide them with as many details as possible. ReportFraud.ftc.gov Initiate a fraud alert You might need to initiate a fraud alert on your credit report. This service enables you to keep better track of all your activity online and will help to keep credit bureaus and lenders informed about any potential fraud you may have encountered on your report. Placing a fraud alert on your report ensures that any scammer cannot open additional accounts in your name going forward, and will alert you of any suspicious activity. Share the information you have Keep other constituents informed about the event, and share any possible information you might have available on the scammer, their name, and their company. While you might want to lay low for the time being and minimize your online activity, share the available information with your followers to help raise more awareness of these malevolent actors, and how they can spot a potential fake scam. Update your security information As an added security measure, update all your security information, on all your devices, and social media platforms. Due to the sophistication of online scams, you will need to be extra cautious of any suspicious emails, links, and messages you open on your devices. It’s advised to use strong and complicated passwords for all of your social media platforms, including any bank information to ensure your safety and security. Stay informed Keep up to date about any new scams that have been taking place on social media over recent weeks. The more you know about possible investment scams or any other type of scam, the easier it will be for you to identify malicious actors online. What’s real and what’s fake? Online trading and investment scams will become a bigger pain for regulators in the coming years, as financial markets are now more democratized and growing more decentralized. These problems not only create challenges for investors, as they will need to use intuition to differentiate between real and fake accounts, but at large, regulators and lawmakers will sit with bigger problems on their hands having to trace down millions of fake accounts operated by bots or bad actors, only to realize the crevices in their regulatory framework.

The SEC is Still Cracking Whips on Crypto - Should Investors be Concerned?

Wealth inequality is a serious problem. While rectifying the wealth gap has long been a core tenet of the ideological left, it has - in recent years - become a concern across the political spectrum. According to pre-pandemic , 61% of Americans view inequality as a concern; since the start of Covid-19, the inequality problem . polling from Pew has only metastasized While it’s one thing to note an obvious problem, proposing solutions to such a problem can be much more difficult. Thus far, most of the potential solutions to inequality have come from the progressives, who advocate for a redistributive model, specifically taxing the profits of the wealthiest individuals and institutions and giving the money to the 99%. While this model certainly has appeal - after all, why shouldn’t those benefiting from their entrenched positions atop the financial system pay their so-called fair share? - I believe that there is another approach that, at the very least, deserves equal consideration to the government-led taxation model: Guaranteeing equal access to sophisticated financial tools. Most people focus on the inequality of economic outcome: An inequality-of-ends. However, there is a lesser scrutinized inequality of means. The reason we see so much wealth concentrated at the top is largely due to the dichotomy between how wealthy individuals and “regular” people manage their investments and benefit from financial technology. Algorithmic Trading Before we go further, a history lesson is in order: For the majority of the twentieth century, investing was an analog activity. Humans on trading floors were the sole executors of trading strategies. While those with money and power may have been able to afford the most capable and experienced money managers, the fact remains that there was relative technical equity, across the financial system. In the latter decades of the twentieth century, as computing power grew exponentially, the nature of trading changed. Computer algorithms, programmed to process previously unfathomable amounts of data and react with inconceivable speed to changing trends, became the centerpiece of the financial system. Hedge funds, big banks, and other institutional wealth managers derive their power from technology. It is no coincidence the power of these financial institutions ballooned, as tech became increasingly intertwined in the day-to-day operations of these institutions. The investing reality for a typical retail investor or day trader stands in stark contrast. The average person does not actively utilize algorithmic trading. While the digital revolution has come to day trading, in the form of apps like eToro and Robinhood, these apps have only changed the way investors interface with the trading system. These apps haven’t provided retail investors with any additional computational power. Retail investors active on Robinhood and similar platforms have to make decisions based on their own views of the market. This is inherently reactive. Whereas a computer can react to market movements imperceptibly fast, people are slow to process data and sort through the potentially flawed suggestions of their social circles. In a contest between a human brain and a computer, the computer will always win. Ultimately this means that popular platforms used for retail trading aren’t up to par with the tools used by the 1%. It is no wonder that wealth inequality compounds when retail investors sit at such a profound investing disadvantage. Reinvigorating Competition When it comes to solving inequality, most people don’t want a handout. What they want is a level playing field. The solution to investing inequality is simply to build trading algorithms for the people. Building 1% tools for the 99% is easier than it sounds. Not only do investors have access to a previously unimaginable amount of quantitative data, but - through the use of technically accessible interfaces - investors can build customizable trading tools, with little backend knowledge. Equalizing access to investor resources isn’t a silver bullet solution to inequality - but it's a necessary start to rebuilding a financial environment conducive to the self-starting, innovative ideals upon which our country has grown and thrived.

Fintech-Populism: Using Technology to Level the Financial Playing Field

So quite a while ago, I made a Bisq. It got rejected, and to be honest, I don't blame them. I had an overarching goal to make a social trading integration within the Bisq platform and allow for this great use of blockchain tech and a decentralized financial ecosystem. It was all fairytales, and bliss, except for one thing. How will this possibly work? proposal In this article, I want ﻿to talk a bit about the idea, its architecture and what social trading is in general. I also want to reiterate a key important detail. What are some ways you can make a privacy-preserving or anonymized social trading platform? In fact, is the concept of social trading or copy trading incompatible with privacy and anonymity? Social Trading is the concept of allowing others to copy your trades, and in some instances or platforms, a commission might be involved (depending on financial regulations, the platform, and your country's jurisdiction). The concept of social trading has become much more popular over time in finance, and it is what allowed for powerhouses like eToro or Darwinex to exist. That being said, the idea of social trading can be quite intriguing. It feels empowering in the world of finance that there is an idea of a nobody becoming a well-recognized quant. ﻿After all, in a fair market system where many of the rules aren't rigged, it feels like the best mathematician should be the clear winner when it comes to algorithms or figuring out the market. What enticed me about Bisq is that it is one of the platforms that I believed was a truly decentralized exchange and ecosystem. Its code is open source, it utilized P2P market pricing and stability, and it was direct wallet to wallet. There wasn't really a centralized entity, or a signup, and it ran with BTC nodes. Most importantly, since it is open source, anybody can audit the code. Something that really pushed﻿ me was the idea of combining the free market philosophy behind Bitcoin with the financial empowerment that I thought a concept like social trading could bring. This is why the proposal was originally conceived. From the proposal, here is what was said in relation to the privacy preservation involved for a social-trading concept: New Privacy Integrations Integrations for privacy and privacy preservation are of the outmost importance. That is why instead of just focusing on reputation, one must also focus on numerous privacy layers in regards to reputation. Currently, even given the P2P compatibilities and the difficulty to store data without sacrificing privacy, comes new ideas centered around tackling these issues. These issues can not be tackled in a way that isn't decentralized or doesn't make sense through the lens of technological compatibility. Preserving Privacy As mentioned, privacy preservation is of the outmost importance. While, transactions are still hashed on Bitcoin's blockchain, there are still other layers of privacy that can be integrated beyond this. This is especially true in relation to preservation of trade history or other related data. Layers of Anonymity An example integration can be an anonymity layer or custom sidechain, that focuses on preserving and hashing data or being like a secondary shield. This can be custom coded and built as a P2P decentralized feature with no central authority or database. Validation Mechanisms Numerous data and validation mechanisms can be put into place. This includes how Bisq already completes market orders, as well as variations of privacy-preserving transnational escrows for different forms of trades. Instead of over-complicating the solution, the focus should be on technological protocols that don't integrate a form of data collection, but do integrate a form of data shielding and encryption without actually storing the data. Regarding Reputation The same formalities can apply to reputation. There could be voting mechanisms given profiles are anonymous. However, taking this a step further, if one properly integrates various forms of transnational escrows and already shields data, then reputation shouldn't be an issue. If you can rank trades anonymously and also not push invalid trades through, then that is already the primary focus. Bisq already does a great job in many of these things, but integrating extra layers of privacy while having something such as social trading, can really reiterate both the privacy-preserving and network compatibilities that make Bisq a great contender. There needs to be further clarification on this, and the architecture that a privacy-preserving mechanism should have. If you Intergate a hashing layer, how will all that data be hashed? What will be the resulting computing power? What about a simple cryptographic layer? Is data sharding to be involved? All these questions or potential explanations need further clarification. Anonymity layers and data validation mechanisms also need further explanation. The potential for social trading within the blockchain is there. Doing so in a privacy-preserving manner might be possible. In regards to how, there are multiple potential routes to go to for a solution on the table.

A Proposal for Bisq + Social Trading: My Thoughts and Ideas

Disclosure: Terra Luna Classic Price Prediction To understand where the price might end up, let’s take a quick look at where it is right now, along with some other quick stats. $0.0001427 Current price: $851,885,019 Market cap: $97,016,085 Volume 24/hr: 5,972,733,140,767 LUNC Circulating supply: A Very Brief History of Terra Luna Classic This current price of $0.0001427 ($LUNC) is far and away from the All-Time High of around $116.00 in April 2022. For those of you new to crypto and anyone else living under a rock or perhaps in a coma at the time, $LUNA the original coin crashed spectacularly along with its sister stable coin $UST, and wiped out around $60 billion from the cryptocurrency markets. This happened in early May 2022. Now is not the time or place to get into great detail about what happened, the hows and the why’s, suffice to say the $UST stablecoin which was relying on an algorithm, depegged from $1 USD, and this event dragged $LUNA all the way down to a low of $0.00004779 from it’s high of $116. All of this happened within just a few days between May 3rd and May 12th, 2022. Investigations are ongoing and there are even allegations and reports that Sam Bankman-Fried may have led an attack targeting $LUNA and $UST with market manipulation tactics, as reported by . The New York Times Birth of Terra Luna Classic ($LUNC) Later in May, a proposal was approved to reissue a new Luna currency and disconnect from the abandoned and devalued UST stablecoin. The original blockchain is now called , and its original Luna currency is called . Terra Classic (LUNC) Luna Classic ($LUNC) A new Luna coin called "Terra 2.0" by investors, has also been created. LUNC Price Prediction There are many varying and wild price predictions going on in the space right now, some are outright crazy and calling for a return back to all-time highs which of course are utterly insane because of the enormous circulating supply which would mean that each of the 5.9 trillion coins combined with the all-time high valuation would create a total worth of $684,400,000,000,000 AKA 684 trillion dollars AKA a number so large I had to Google it (6.844e+14). at this point in time A far more realistic that many in the space are suggesting is probable, should a number of things go right for the chain and its ongoing development is; $0.01 or simply put 1 cent. LUNC price prediction I too think that this is realistic. My prediction is that this will happen by 2025. Terra Luna Classic Burn A huge part of the chain’s supporters, the developers, and the community’s focus is on burning the supply. For the price to have any chance of increasing, . This is agreed upon by virtually everyone. the supply must be reduced In order to reduce the supply, coins must be burned by sending them to the burn address: terra1sk06e3dyexuq4shw77y3dsv480xv42mq73anxu The LUNC community rallied and a supply burn was originally agreed to be 1.2% after the community passed proposals and . These proposals introduced a 1.2% tax burn for all on-chain transactions of LUNC on the Terra Classic network. 3568 4159 The same LUNC community shortly after changed its mind and approved , which reduced the 1.2% tax burn to 0.2%. proposal 5234 Edward Kim, one of the co-authors of the 1.2% tax burn proposal, an article on his Medium blog which explained the benefits of reducing the tax burn to 0.2%. published Adding to the community burn agreement was the agreement of centralized cryptocurrency exchanges (CEXs) to aid in the burn. Some of the world’s largest exchanges like Binance showed support in burning the $LUNC supply which led to other large exchanges including KuCoin, Kraken, Gate.io, MEXC , eToro, Huobi Crypto.com, CoinInn, BTCEX, and many others supporting the community governance agreements. How Much Terra Luna Classic ($LUNC) Has Been Burned So Far? The current burn quantity sits at or 0.5% of the supply. Much of this quantity has been burned with the support and help of Binance. They alone have burned approximately 20 billion LUNC. 34 billion An interesting side note: suggests that getting to a target goal of 10 billion LUNC supply, at the current rate, will take 57 years to accomplish. Lunc.tech Where does this 10 billion LUNC supply goal come from though? This 10 billion supply goal comes from the original 1.2% burn proposal which I linked to above. Time For Some Reality! Realistically, based on current burn metrics the 10 billion LUNC supply goal will take many decades to achieve. Of course, there are things we cannot know, such as what new dApps may come along that will add to burns or other kinds of that are currently being discussed and debated by people a lot smarter than me. crypto wizardry Some of this wizardry includes the option to repeg LUNC to USTC or some other new stablecoin, and it is said that if this can be done, what would effectively happen is that the supply of LUNC will be reversed through the same mechanisms that it was minted when the crash happened. In layman's terms, there was an algorithm that connected UST and LUNA along with USD and BTC in the backend, one would be minted and another burned, but when the crash happened this mechanism flipped itself. The idea to repeg, if it works, would flip it back again. There is also talk of merging the Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) chain with the Terra 2.0 (LUNA) chain. Many in the community are saying that the combination of LUNA (remember this is now dubbed Terra 2.0) with its heavy focus on development and its current infrastructure and many already existing dApps, when combined with LUNCs relatively high market cap, daily trading volume, and its sheer number of community members, holders, and investors, that this could spell a revival never before seen in the world of crypto… …and one which EVERYONE wants to see happen. Because you see, many people lost everything in the LUNA crash, and it was no fault of their own. Many of these same people hold LUNC, LUNA, and USTC. This would be a David versus Goliath, underdog, and Phoneix revival story all rolled into one. Path to $0.01 LUNC In order for LUNC to reach my price prediction of $0.01 by 2025, and based on pure numbers alone, approximately 2 trillion LUNC, representing about 30% of the supply would need to be burned in order for the currency to achieve the price target of $0.01 per coin. This would reduce the total supply to 4.8 trillion and would propel LUNC into the top 10 cryptocurrencies based on market cap, totaling $48 billion. Is that realistic? I think so, yes. By 2025? Maybe. Really, burning 2 trillion by 2025? Trillions were minted in days, trillions can be burned in a couple of years. One other reason for my optimism is the sheer number of staked LUNC. Currently, this sits at 13% of the total supply or about 898 billion LUNC. Staking, similar to burning, removes LUNC supply, but only in the short term as there is a 21-day lockup period which means that those LUNC, which are staked, cannot be bought or sold for that period of time, meaning if there was an investor run toward buying up the LUNC cryptocurrency, there is a very large amount that could not be bought and hence demand, and price, would increase on the available amounts. The community pool (which is what is funding LUNC staking rewards) currently holds 1.6 billion LUNC along with 807k USTC. This amount can of course change due to governance proposals. Other Reasons For My LUNC Price Prediction There is a lot happening in the LUNC world right now. Binance second round of Terra (LUNA) token airdrop dispersal to holders of Terra Classic (LUNC) and TerraClassicUSD (USTC). Reopening of the Inter Blockchain Communication (IBC).
