A public blockchain needs the history of every transaction to be able to prove that you own an asset. A public blockchain does not need to explain you’re making the transaction. why Proprietary data and business logic should only be on a private blockchain. A communication bridge enables a private blockchain to transfer public blockchain assets. Cool, so with that said, let’s look at Dragonchain. So what — why is Dragonchain interesting? Smart contracts have the potential for operational efficiencies. Dragonchain makes it easy for developers to use smart contracts with familiar technologies. Dragonchain has five levels of nodes. It took me a few read throughs to get it. I promise it’s not as complex as it sounds at first. Lets say that Pet Co has determined that they should buy more dog treats from one of their vendors Bones R Us. Transaction Approval — L1 Is where the proprietary logic and data determine that Pet Co needs to buy dog toys from Bones R Us. Transaction Validation — L2 Validates that the transaction is valid for the L1 node based on the organization rules, e.g. Supply Chain team isn’t executing a contract to hire an engineer. Supply Chain team is approving a purchase order from an approved vendor Transaction Verification — L3 Checks that a diverse range of L2 nodes across the network validated the transaction. E.g. three signatures are required for a purchase order requiring someone from Finance, Legal and Logistics to sign off preventing three Engineers from completing the sign off Verification Observation — L4 Is an independent witnesses to the L3 node verifying the diversity requirements. Transaction Execution — L5 Is a bridge to a public blockchain to transferred ownership of resources. It can be even simpler if you trust all the actors in your private blockchain, then you only need L1 and L5. Who cares? This framework has application in healthcare, government, logistics and energy. Smart contracts may need the use of This makes them unsuitable for a public blockchain. Enter the private blockchain. proprietary business logic and private data. So how does this work? Surely all the data needs to be public if you want to move assets around on a public blockchain right? The answer is no. A public blockchain just needs to be able to prove that you own an asset, it doesn’t need to be able to explain why you changed the ownership. Yes, this could be done with a centralized system. But the problem is who designs and controls the centralized system? In our example is it Pet Co, Bones R Us, the delivery company? Let’s say it’s Bones R Us that has this awesome system, with an app for solving supply chain management problems. Does that mean that the delivery company has to have an app for every customer? This creates a problems if Pet Co has a unique business process that they need incorporated into the app. Pet Co is a massive customer for Bones R Us. Should Bones R Us create a specific app for Pet Co, or make the other customers use Pet Co’s process, or ….? A By having a common ledger, each company can build its own system customized to its processes. private blockchain solves these issues. Smart contracts also simplify auditing and allow for codifying business processes. Why Dragonchain? (tell us your story) I’m the Founder and Architect of Dragonchain and Den.social. I have over 20 years of experience in software architecture focusing on security and scalability. As blockchain was starting to make itself known, I immediately recognized we had to find a way that businesses could leverage the technology. Most projects were trying to get businesses to fit into a blockchain box. As a software architect, To do that we built a platform of capabilities where a business can build any solution to their real-world problems. I knew the best way to foster adoption was to find a way to scale blockchain technology to real businesses' requirements and to allow interoperability with their systems already in place. We built Den.social to demonstrate the power of blockchain technology in affecting human behavior toward a set of clear goals. In 2010, one of my engineering R&D team members brought to my attention the Satoshi Bitcoin white paper. That paper caught my attention as a very novel way to address many issues in the software industry. We quickly began to build a variety of things to learn everything we could about Bitcoin and other blockchain technologies, and how they could be applied in business. 4. What tech are you most excited or passionate about right now and why? I’m most excited about Behavior Systems and the very unique and interesting ways that they can solve real-world problems. I believe that every human situation is effectively a marketplace, yet in these unrecognized marketplaces, there is no objective transparency or measure of value. Behavior Systems are effective systems that use blockchain and/or cryptocurrency to create transparent marketplaces and meritocracies to replace and improve existing organizational processes. At Dragonchain, we’re continuing to build on what we learned in our early days at Disney with what we now call Behavior Systems, and we’re building several systems (e.g. Den.social) that employ this technology to great effect. With Den.social as an example, although it is early, we have already demonstrated that human behavior can be affected in a positive way toward the declared goals of producing and evaluating quality content. Any behavior system needs to have a good level of transparency, especially in the rewards system itself to let the users know directly how specific behaviors are rewarded or penalized in order to be effective. 5. What tech are you most worried about right now and why? Genetics and bioengineering. Although I’m a long-time fan of genetics research itself and considered pursuing a career in that field, I am not a fan of untested applications, especially on human subjects and agriculture. There are simply too many risks associated with unmanaged experiments in that field. 6. If we gave you 10 million dollars to invest in something today, what would you invest in and why? I would invest in building projects on Dragonchain. Simply put, there are so many applications and use cases that would improve the lives of people and businesses around the world right now that are not yet being built. Line jumping is where a faster trader sees a transaction hit the blockchain and puts the exact same transaction on the blockchain, but with a higher gas fee. Providing Proof in an Untrusting World

Typically, when people want to know the history of they often ask about how it all started at Disney. It’s a great story and you can read about it . But, today I want to talk about a different origin story, albeit related, the Dragon. Dragonchain here Like most innovations, the Dragon solves a problem, in this case, software licensing. The world of software licensing may sound like a snooze fest but the software industry is expected to grow to $507.2 billion by 2021. $456.1 billion Although it may not feel exciting, licensing is necessary. We’re all familiar with agreeing to a set of terms to use a software program. In these terms, the software company, i.e the vendor, lays out the criteria for using its product. Software licensing has seen a change in its relatively short existence going from being fairly limiting to being pretty flexible. Perpetuated by the transition to an internet-based society, software (and the accompanying license) has gone from pay upfront to pay as you go. But, neither method is perfect and for that reason, the Dragon was invented. Before we dive into the innovation behind the Dragon and explain what the heck a micro-license is let's talk about the two methods of software licensing from which the Dragon hails. Version-Based Licensing Model Before the 1990s, version-based licensing was the method used for granting software application permissions. At that time, software was tangible and came in the form of a floppy disc, CD, or DVD. Using software from one of these mediums required consumers to purchase the software and agree to the terms before installing the code onto their systems. Version-based licensing had many attributes and served the industry well for quite some time. With this type of licensing, consumers maintained ownership of not only the software but any data that was created on the software. For businesses, version-based licensing offered some level of scalability, in that, additional licenses could be purchased and were easily transferable to new staff. But, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. As technology advances, software, operating systems, and hardware all need constant updates to stay useful. But, unfortunately, software companies will routinely discontinue support for a particular piece of software and those updates and patches are no longer available. The lack of updates puts consumers at risk for viruses, spyware, and data breaches. For this reason, consumers must maintain software integrity to guarantee safety and compatibility over time. Beyond software becoming outdated and unsupported, it can be wasteful. For a business, if the size of the team is reduced or if a project comes to an end, version-based software licensing can sit dormant. According to a study from 1E, as much as of business software is wasted, costing $34 billion a year for the US and UK, alone. 38% Subscription-Based Licensing Model As Internet usage and cloud-based computing became the norm, software companies have transitioned to a subscription-based licensing model. With subscription-based licensing consumers are afforded more customization with graduated tiers of service like basic and premium to provide more tailored price points, paying for only the services they want. And, of course, by transitioning to software downloads vendors can reduce costs, and those pesky disks aren’t cluttering up our shelf space. Sounds good, right? Not so fast. Like with version-based licensing, subscription-based licensing has its problems. One issue that persists is, even though consumers are paying for what they need monthly or yearly, the consumer may not be using the software 24/7 during that month or year. So, even though the waste is reduced, the consumer is still paying for software use while it sits unused. The other problem with subscription-based licensing is data ownership. In version-based licensing data, ownership was retained. But in subscription-based licensing, once the subscription runs out, it is over. Consumers are required to “re-up” or lose the rights to the software and thus the data created. Even though subscription-based licensing is more convenient and beneficial to both consumers and vendors, it lacks the crucial ability for the consumer to keep access to their data. Censorship is on the rise as technology gets more advanced. We’re going to explore some key areas where censorship exists today, how censorship impacts everyone, and the domino effects that occur. Freedom and truth for all is within reach, but the current establishment is too scared, centralized, and in complete control to write history their way. Definition of censorship Censorship limits what someone may think, say, show, or do. Thoughts, words, visuals, and actions are suppressed because they are considered ‘offensive’ by the government, policy makers, algorithms, religions, and other bodies with (self-proclaimed) authority. What is censorship Censorship reduces someone’s freedom to move outside of boundaries other people decided upon. This is not limited to governments, but also to programmers writing software or algorithms, and policy makers hired by social media platforms. Even pressure in your own social environment can lead to self censorship. Out of fear, rejection, or worse. This self censoring can affect someone on a personal level. Companies experience self censorship as well. Examples of this include not publishing - or redacting - parts of a book, news story, or a movie due to political or commercial pressure. The full truth or original story is never shared with society, with you. Therefore you are not able to weigh your own opinions or actions based on all the facts and considerations, or even potential consequences. Luckily, we have a HackerNoon subreddit which we moderate and your articles will always be accepted there. Why post on Reddit? So the reason for posting on Reddit is not just to get views. We can also use their platform and strong domain authority as a tool to rank for certain keywords. Posts on Reddit often hit the front page of Google and those posts generate backlinks for the stories linked within them. BUT the catch is that what ranks on Google and Reddit is normally the posts with the most comments and text in the post itself. Therefore, when you post on HackerNoon’s subreddit, don’t just post a link. Create a post with a couple paragraphs or more of intro and then introduce your article. Hacking Hacker Noon: How to Get More Reads for Your Stories

Question: Hi Adam, How’d you explain Blockster to your mom? How’d she react? The key takeaway about Blockster is that it’s a social platform for cryptocurrency users, and for those interested in learning more about cryptocurrency and finding ways to earn cryptocurrency. It’s powered by user-generated content and comes complete with a news feed so that users can stay up to date on all the latest action, a blog where they can consume and create content, a cryptocurrency price aggregator so they can track the top coins, and plenty of other features that can be found in other platforms, like group pages, conference calls, videos, etc. The simple description is that it’s a hybrid between Facebook, Medium, and CoinMarketCap. When I told my Mom that, she understood it at once. It just makes sense right now with so many fragmented social media platforms to consolidate everything crypto under one roof. Question: You’re a veteran of crowdfunding from the 2017 heydays via Digitex. How would you say the industry has changed as you gear up to begin another token sale? It was a lot easier to raise money back then. When I started the Digitex token sale, I had no team and no experience and yet I still raised over $5 million dollars in 17 minutes. But when over 90% of the ICOs from that time failed it sobered everyone up and, nowadays, the average investor wants to see more than just a whitepaper and a website before throwing money in. Digitex was a rough ride but I never quit and the hard lessons I learned will directly benefit the Blockster project. And unlike Digitex, Blockster is starting out with a working platform and a full-strength team, and a CEO who has already made all the mistakes and learned things the hard way. That’s what today’s token investors want to see and that’s why the Blockster token sale will be a success. Question: Blockster aims to be ‘the only social media platform dedicated to cryptocurrency users’. How would you compare Blockster to platforms such as Dragonchain, Hive, and Uptrennd? The key selling point with us is content. High-quality, curated content in combination with user-generated content. And it’s the quality of the content that is of most importance to us - not whether that content is stored on a blockchain or whether it comes from someone who was allowed to say whatever he or she likes without being censored. Those other decentralized social networks are more interested in how the content is stored than in whether it’s actually good or not. Blockster is more like a content publication with a bunch of social features where the substance of the content is much more important than the manner in which it is stored. Question: A common problem we see in the crypto-industry is the scourge of vested interests polluting the space with shilly stories that hoodwink readers. In that context, do you think Blockster would have an editorial policy OR would it prefer to be community-driven OR, is there a middle ground? More of a middle-ground. The platform is designed to be driven by user-generated content, but initially, we’re partnering with some of the best industry writers to set the standard and to populate our blog, called Blockdesk, with the highest quality content. We’re creating the graphics and visuals and we’re also editing all the content internally because we want to create a certain level of standard for the quality of content we produce. This is the same with influencers, eventually, influencers will flood this space, but in the beginning, we’re working closely with them to set the tone for the content they produce and, more so, the direction we would like to take Blockster in is more on the professional side. We want the professionals who work behind the scenes of the top cryptocurrency businesses to be on Blockster. Given the recent price oracle attacks, how does Blockster protect the integrity of its data feed? Blockwatch pulls its data from the APIs of CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko. Also, our users are not doing transactions on our platform based on this data, it's merely a display of current market prices for the top 500 coins. So it’s unlikely that attackers would want to mess with Blockwatch. But as an added layer of protection, we will soon be partnering with a well-known supplier of decentralized price feeds to act as a backup feed should anomalies be detected. Question: Groups and Messaging truly help build communities. Glad to see Blockster offer that. However, given our politically charged atmosphere and the shitposting subculture, how would Blockster combat online harassment and takedown illegitimate content? Blockster aims to become the place where professionals from the cryptocurrency industry come to learn, share, and network. Harassment and shitposting do not fit into that culture and our moderators will be working actively to maintain a culture that is conducive to our users’ goals. We do not have clear policies yet on what action we will take in certain circumstances because we want to react to what is actually happening and make informed decisions at the time but know that we aim to create a certain type of professional culture and we will work tirelessly to achieve that. Question: Advertising Blockchain projects has always been done by traversing the seedy underbelly due to the powers-that-be, like Google, controlling advertisements on their network. In that sense, what will Blockster do to ensure that the crypto-companies get the advertisements they’re looking for, at a price that does not break the bank? I know from first-hand experience how difficult it is to buy quality traffic and advertise as a crypto company. It’s almost impossible to reach a quality audience because every major source of traffic treats us like a pariah. Blockster will change that with our self-serve ads platform that allows any legitimate cryptocurrency project to advertise to our users. There’s massive pent-up demand from crypto companies for access to an audience like ours. Regarding pricing, advertisers will bid for the ad spots they want, meaning that market forces determine the cost per click or cost per impression. The important thing for us to get right is that we show relevant ads that our users will actually find interesting or informative and that aren’t seen as intrusive or annoying.
