These techniques, from deep neural networks to reinforcement learning, are also propelling significant advancements in computer vision, motion planning, and robot control. As language models like Llama 3 continue to expand the boundaries of AI’s ability to understand and interact with the world, they also lay the groundwork for more intelligent and capable robots. The implications, of course, extend beyond communication. The same techniques used to train LLMs on vast amounts of text data are also applicable to learning from massive datasets of sensor readings, images, and simulations for robots. Moreover, the open-source nature of models like Llama 3 democratizes access to state-of-the-art AI, enabling a broader spectrum of researchers and companies to integrate these capabilities into their robotic systems. At least start playing on that field! Every successful (and unsuccessful) attempt by Atlas to manipulate an object, navigate a cluttered factory floor, or assist a human worker becomes a valuable data point for the model, just as it does for Llama 3. Using this innovative model, Meta developed a standalone app, meta.ai, and embedded it into WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook, collecting vast and highly personalized data. This could lead us toward synthetic social networks or — which is more likely — an extremely personalized, embodied AI experience. As Llama 3 and the electric Atlas converge, they may accelerate each other’s development, blurring the lines between software and hardware, bits and atoms. As language models become more proficient at understanding and interacting with the world, robots will become more capable of applying that knowledge. This doesn’t necessarily mean evil. More capable and advanced robots, which can be fine-tuned and improved with your personal data and specifics, could take over mundane tasks at home. AI Industries Converge: Llama 3 and Electric Atlas Have More In Common Than You Think

For those attending NVIDIA’s annual developer conference on Monday, the company’s new announcement must have been exciting.  Nvidia unveiled Project GR00T, an ambitious plan to release a software and hardware platform that can be used to build human-like robots which will continue to learn through generative artificial intelligence (AI). The company says its new launch will enable robots to be smarter and more functional than ever before – and they'll accomplish this by watching humans. The platform is made up of a computer system to power the robot and AI, along with a suite of software that includes various tools like genAI, to build human-like robots. According to NVIDIA, Project GR00T is a “general-purpose foundation model for humanoid robots, designed to further its work driving breakthroughs in robotics and embodied AI.” “Building foundation models for general humanoid robots is one of the most exciting problems to solve in AI today,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA. “The enabling technologies are coming together for leading roboticists around the world to take giant leaps towards artificial general robotics.” NVIDIA says it is building a comprehensive AI platform for leading humanoid robot companies such as 1X Technologies, Agility Robotics, Apptronik, Boston Dynamics, Figure AI, Fourier Intelligence, Sanctuary AI, Unitree Robotics and XPENG Robotics, among others. Most AI expertise has been swept up by companies trying to squeeze us for dollars. There is simply not as much money in public, transparent, people-driven efforts to make life fundamentally better (formerly the domain of government) or even in brain simulation. It’s in bread and circuses and military uses. These types of conditions are what make AI, and any other technology, go in the direction it does. AI is out there now. AI for Data Analysis AI is also increasingly being used in data analysis to assist organizations in making better, faster, and more data-driven decisions. AI algorithms can process massive amounts of data and identify patterns and relationships that human analysts may not notice right away. This data can then be used to inform business strategies, improve operations, and stimulate innovation. Some of the more specialized applications for these tools encompass: 1. Predictive Analytics With the help of historical data, AI algorithms can predict events in the future. Using AI, companies can predict customer behavior, sales trends, and market conditions more accurately. A number of AI algorithms are embedded in Netflix and Spotify's algorithms to help the companies better understand their users' likes and dislikes. Based on this data, services can then provide relevant recommendations to their customers to keep them engaged by listening to music or watching series on those platforms. 2. Fraud Detection Large amounts of data can be analyzed by AI to detect fraudulent activities such as credit card fraud, insurance fraud, and cyberattacks. The technology can detect unusual patterns of behavior and flag them for further investigation, improving financial transaction security and protecting organizations from potential losses. Master Card has long used AI technologies to provide a fraud score for every transaction on its network as part of its anti-fraud efforts, making the information available to its issuers. Delivery optimization - to provide real-time visibility into shipment status, allowing businesses to quickly identify and resolve any issues that may arise. Supply chain visibility - to analyze data such as consumer demand, shipping costs, and market conditions in order to optimize product distribution while lowering costs and increasing margins. Blue Yonder, Aera Technology, Kinaxis, and IBM Watson Supply Chain are a few of the most recognizable companies in the supply chain optimization area. Product distribution - AI for Customer Service AI is being utilized more and more to improve customer service and provide a better customer experience. Artificial intelligence technology can assist organizations in increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of their customer service operations while also providing customers with timely and personalized support. 1. Virtual Assistants AI virtual assistants can provide personalized support to customers, assisting them in finding information or completing tasks. Virtual assistants, for example, can be integrated into websites or mobile apps to assist customers with their shopping experience. As such, Walmart customers can ask Google Assistant to add specific items to their shopping carts or learn more about their shopping habits in the app[ ]. 2 2. These systems can be programmed to respond to simple questions and requests, provide callers with information such as current balances, allow customers to access specific account information, and, when necessary, redirect customers to an operator or customer service representative. Alvaria, Avaya, and GeneSys are three of the most recognized companies in this field. AI for Marketing AI is being used to increase the efficiency of marketing efforts in a variety of ways. AI technology can assist organizations in better understanding their customers, boosting campaign targeting, and measuring the results of their efforts. It is used in marketing in the following ways: 1. Customer Segmentation To create targeted marketing campaigns, AI algorithms can analyze customer data such as demographic information, purchase history, and social media behavior. This enables businesses to better understand their customers and increase the effectiveness of their marketing efforts. The Amazon Personalize automated segmentation system, which matches customers with the most compatible products tailored to their personal needs, is one of the most vivid examples. This is achieved through the use of special techniques that learn how users interact with items and then segment them based on their preferences. 2. This technology also assists marketers in optimizing content for various channels such as the web, mobile browsers, apps, and others. Some of the most well-known companies in this regard are Marketo Engage, BridgtEdge, and Evergage. AI for Legal work In the legal industry, Artificial Intelligence is being used to automate repetitive tasks, improve the accuracy of legal research, and provide more efficient and cost-effective services to clients. 1. Contract Review and Analysis AI algorithms can be used to review and analyze large volumes of contracts, assisting lawyers in identifying key provisions and clauses in a timely manner. When compared to manual review, this can save time and improve the accuracy of contract review. 2. Document discovery AI algorithms can be used to categorize and prioritize legal documents, such as those used in litigation discovery. I'm not sure how the fish will be able to self-repair or how long it'll last being so small, but this seems a fantastic initiative. I'm curious about what would happen if other fish ate these robots. Arthur Tkachenko Jun 29, 2022, 5:00 AM Well, I love robots! Hopefully, after the war, I'll be able to participate in some projects related to robotization. I don't think that robofish will save us from plastic. I mean, as most laziest animals on Earth, we'll find a way to cheat and be able to pollute Earth. I think it will only work with huge mass production. And it's not a place where revenue is growing. Maybe if a robot fish can eat plastic and then use it to produce the new smallest robo-fishes - it might work somehow. I was watching like 10 presentations about Ocean Cleanup and I like their idea to attack this problem on a scale. One of the ways is to suck most of the plastics from rivers that are the dirtiest ones. And if we combine two visions: start cleaning rivers first using robots for doing it it might work even better. First of all - it's better to catch plastic bottles and spoons before they became microplastic particles because it's easier to spot one item. And rivers are smaller than seas or oceans. And you actually can use bigger robots, similar to roboDog from Boston Dynamics. And while big bots need more energy, you can actually use a long wire, so your robot stays connected to the grid. your robot even doesn't need to be a good swimmer - you can find places where usually plastics or garbage floating, and pick that stuff away(this place can be even cleaned up and have a setup with some electricity) Imagine that: some small river has 10 spots where there is a natural dam formed. And we put a solar panel + accumulator for each spot. And each week a ranger goes to that place, connecting a RoboDuck with a hand, to that energy storage and just waits with a bag. RoboDuck just floating and picking stuff away. Maybe the way to go is, as you said, to be able to create other robot fishes from that same plastic that they "ate". Are Fish Robots Going to Save the Oceans?

Please tell us your story. What do you currently do in tech and how did you get started doing it? I’m the CEO at , an international tech company with most of our team based in Odesa, Ukraine. Our company developed a number of online security and productivity solutions: VPN Unlimited (a VPN service with more than 30M customers), Passwarden (a secure password manager), Goals (an object-oriented project management tool), and others. Now at the company, I am mostly engaged in organizational and administrative activities. It is a very boring stage for me because I love development, new technologies, and product launches. But, it's a mandatory step that you can't skip if you want your company to scale. KeepSolid 2. Tell us more! What are the things you make / write / manage / build? As you may know, we have a war going on in our country right now. This is surprising, but it has been the cause of many changes in KeepSolid. All the military intelligence agencies of the world predicted that our army would not hold out against the Russian army for more than three days. A week into the war, it was clear that they had all underestimated our army. A month later, it was already clear that not only would we not surrender, but we were going to take back everything that was taken from us. This is where I asked myself a question that concerns both business and the army - why did a superior army with a huge number of weapons shatter like glass in Ukraine? I found the answer in the quality of performance. Next, I noticed that we in the company are constantly releasing something new, but with the release of each new feature or new product, the workload on the helpdesk only increases. At the same time, they mostly write complaints or ask how to do something with the product. Drawing an analogy with war, we made a decision to stop all new developments and put the company into the mode of improving the quality of the current products for half a year. We gather feedback, find old complaints, and we fix them. We've done a lot of iterations, and we keep doing it. When we find system problems, we not only fix them, but we make instructions or other administrative documents describing what the employee should do next time to avoid the problem. In other words, we prepare a springboard for further growth of the company and release new functions with high quality. This is what all my activities at KeepSolid are focused on right now. 3. If we gave you 10 million dollars to invest in something today, what would you invest in and why? Well, if you gave me 10 billion dollars, I would work on the technology to overcome the speed of light. And with 10 million, you can do simpler, but still important, tasks. You know, I wondered what online tool I could use to organize my teams’ work now. I was very surprised. There's not a single working product right now. Some offer agile methodologies where the focus is on tasks, but no one thinks about goals. Others allow you to juggle key results, but at the same time, I can't even see the team's workload so I can’t schedule new work for the least busy employee. Others don't even think about the need to monitor the quality of work and find the weakest link. All in all, I would use such an investment to create a business management product as I see it from the height of my management experience. 4. What do you think is the most exciting development in tech right now? And on a personal level, what tech are you most excited or passionate about? I like what the guys at Boston Dynamics are doing. These are really cool robots that can take a difficult or dangerous job for humans, and get it done. Now that we have a war in our country, believe me, I know what I'm talking about. :) Personally, I like technology to collect and process data. The more I do marketing, the more interesting it is because I have to analyze hundreds of indicators and often have to wait for all the data to be downloaded. In the case of Apple or Google, the lag can be up to a few days until they process the data and give you the final analytics. There's more to develop here. It's not just about Big Data or Data Analysis, it's also about the proper organization of visual data so that analysis of all company activity at all levels takes not 2 hours, but only 5 minutes. I love graphs, and our developers often suffer when I ask them to redesign our Dashboards to display data differently. 5. What are your concerns about how fast tech is evolving? When I combined the work of an engineer and a businessman, I noticed the following thing: a lot of technologies are created as a protest against existing technology. Some new idea is claimed, and the result is another technology that is far from perfect. This snowball effect is still going on today. The need to support it all is making operating systems and computer hardware more complicated. Are we moving toward new possibilities for humanity at the same speed as technology becomes more complex? I believe we are not, and such a path creates more barriers than benefits. Also, a lot of technology is a lot of security vulnerabilities or just system quality. 6. Which tech company do you trust the most? Which do you trust the least? Why? It depends on what exactly to trust. For example, if I know that company A stores all user data and uses it for its own benefit, then I trust them to use my data too if I give it to them. Here are some examples: Facebook knows everything there is to know about us. Is it using it against us? If a Facebook user is a terrorist, Facebook will probably give his data to the government to protect other people. But when I'm an honest person, all the harm from analyzing my data is intrusive advertising. You can trust Facebook from that point of view. (Few people would agree though, right?) Another example is Apple. When you run an ad campaign in Apple Search Ads, it often happens that Apple doesn't show the advertiser what keyword a significant portion of the budget is spent on. Instead of the keyword, they write “(Low Volume)”. Apple managers have told us that “Low Volume” is indicated when a keyword has too few impressions. But they can't tell me the truth about what “Low Volume” is when more than $2,000 is spent on that keyword. What is this? It's a lie. The company twists advertiser's money in a scheme similar to a scam and won't admit it, explaining that the system decides everything by itself. Do I trust them? Of course, I don't. I have confidence in Google. Many of their technologies are open and you can check whether everything is as they claim it is. Also, Google's policy is much less about hiding analytical data from developers, which inspires trust and confidence. 7. What are you currently learning? I'm interested in the topic of long-term stock investing. I'm still trying to figure out how market crashes happen every 10 years. I study how the human mindset works, why some people have it easy and others find life hard. It's interesting and allows you not only to learn something new, but also to influence the future of the company by selecting the right people. 8. What’s the best advice you’ve ever given someone? I don't know. Perhaps someone will read this question and tell me for themselves if this has happened. 9. What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? I can't say it was exactly advice. A good friend gently pointed out to me that I wouldn't solve many of my problems until I took responsibility for them. It took me about 5 years to really take responsibility, but now I am very happy, thanks to him!

I’ve used many of them, bought them, subscribed and honestly, the only ones that I use nowadays are Grammarly, because my punctuation sucks mostly, and I also use title capitalization tools like this and occasionally character counting tools like . bad boy this one Recently I was asked by someone what my thoughts were on web-based AI writing tools and services. Well here are my thoughts ma'am. My first instinabout to AI in the world of online content creation is . eww, yuck, get it away The word 'poser' comes to mind. As does fake and lazy. And I can tell you exactly why I feel this way. I don’t have thoughts on this topic, I am embedded in it. I create written content and come up with briefs for others and the amount of AI-written garbage that is sent to me regularly by lazy, swindling writers trying to make easy money is insane. But hang on…those are humans trying to do the swindling right, why the hate for the bots man? Correct. Those are my initial gut instincts, and for good reason, as explained above. I’m not paying some jack-ass to write me a so-called with a high level of on a topic just for them to type some words and phrases into a tool like and then send it back to me with their hand out asking for payment. high quality article expertise Jasper AI To give you a brief example of what I mean. Here is a brief comparison of  an AI versus me. I wrote this piece on my blog yesterday titled . You can see it’s absolutely flawless. Haha. Just kidding. But, honestly, it’s OK right? It was written by me, a human and I think it makes sense, its clear and tells you what it is supposed to tell you. Lets compare it to one of these tools shall we: Crypto Staking Newbie Guide I input the exact same title into Jasper AI’s template tool, along with the tone of voice being: Here is the result: Blog Post Outline chatty, friendly, knowledgeable. Lets review the result. 1, yeah OK. 2, gotchya. 3, makes sense. 4, what, its 2022?! 5, back on track,, makes sense. 6, again with the nonsense. Lets try something else. This time I will try the template called . Blog Post Intro Paragraph Create the inputs, hit generate, here is what I get: Upon first look it seems OK. There is a flow and its understandable. But upon looking at with a critical eye. The very first sentence needs to be scrapped, there is no way I am putting  my name on anything that says X is a ‘great way to make some extra money’. No way. If this was a human writer, I would not use them again because it’s giving readers the wrong impression and it threatens me and my business. Further down in the first attempt you will see Jasper is now apparently telling the reader I am going to recommend them which coins to stake. F*ck you Jasper! This robot is potentially going to get me into trouble! Real fears. The robots are coming? If you recall just a mere 3 years ago the Elon Musk backed OpenAI refused to release its research on its AI text generator because they said it was 'too good' and that they felt it may be misused. I am a writer first, a storyteller. At least that is what I think of myself. And this just gets my heckles up and puts me on the defensive instantly because as you can see these tools are not the best, but they are getting better and better all the time. This freaked me the hell out. How can I compete with a content-creator version of Arnold Schwarzenegger from Terminator 2? It’s impossible. I started having visions of these AI writers like Jasper and Arnie, writing news, guides, jokes, movie scripts and more. Live news and sports scores were coming out and being published immediately, rendering all of us text-based human content creators useless. That was the worst case scenario. As I have gotten older, I like to think I have become more rational and so I decided to do what I always do when I freak out and go for a walk. Something the stupid robots still need help doing. Yeah I’m looking at you Boston Dynamics. After some time spent thinking about it, I'm somewhat less defensive and maybe even potentially optimistic. The thing is that many of these so-called AI tools that come along are apparently 'so good' but in actual fact, they turn out to be in the end as I showed you a moment ago. just ok They are OK enough to spend a few bucks on but just like any other piece of stupid technology, you need to slap it around now and again because it’s not perfect, just like the old TV units you’d have to bang on the top to get the picture quality right because the signal was wonky. Take Grammarly for example. I used the paid version initially and thought, but after some time the thing just became annoying and I started to see its flaws because, after all, it is a machine that barely compares to an Ant in complexity, let alone a human toddler, let alone an adult human writer. Real talk. oh wow, great, I always forget to put a comma there, Ahh, that made me feel a whole lot better, comparing the AI demons to a miserable little Ant. All things considered, pro’s, cons, Jasper getting me into trouble, Arnold…the AI writing tools that do exist, they are crude at best and virtually all of them lack the capability and struggle when given what we would consider an easy task such as 'write a 1000-word essay on the topic of fly-fishing'. They just can’t do it in a comprehensive way that is comparable to a human writer. Not that I have seen anyway. Feel free to change my mind. And maybe Elon Musk and crew do have something so jaw-dropping that it would put us all out of business, this website, Hacker Noon included. Maybe, they do, maybe they don’t. I’ve not seen it and I’m not waiting around either. On the positive side, I think these AI text and content systems will be helpful in helping us content writers with the more mundane things like coming up with TLDR text, extracting or coming up with keywords from text, writing excerpts, meta-tags, and so on and so forth no different to how spelling and grammar checks, character and word counters or title capitalization tools did in times past. For now, I’m going too continue doing what I always do, creating content. If and when Jasper, or Anrold Schwarzenneger or the Ants or anyone else wants to go toe-to-toe, well we can do the caveman dance and see what happens.
