Crypto has been an industry predominantly dominated by white men, especially from developed countries. That’s just a fact for anyone with eyes. So, it didn’t start by being pretty diverse or inclusive, even if the whole gist of decentralization and self-custodial money was to include everyone or as many people as possible. Luckily, things have improved over the years, but diversity and inclusion in crypto still seem to be a work in progress. Now, to be fair, a lot of people participating here tend to be anonymous and therefore we know close to nothing about their “diversity stats” —ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, age, nationality, etc. Satoshi Nakamoto is a great example. Still, among the ones that have decided to step into the public (CEOs, employees, journalists, adopters, and more) there is only a minority of non-white-men among the powerful ones (founders and leaders), while it seems that most adopters are, indeed, non-white-men. Let’s start with some stats to check how that’s going so far. Current landscape Or as current as the stats and reports have allowed us to know. In their list of the 50 most influential crypto CEOs, barely three women appear. For the BIS, less than 35% of all crypto trading app users globally were female in 2022. Similar reports are all over the industry, but almost always show the same gender gap. It’s not the only type of statistic worth noting for diversity purposes, though. This is an interesting one: as discovered by Pew Research, 24% of Asian adults and 21% of Black or Hispanic adults in the United States have invested in crypto, compared to only 14% of white adults. There are numerous decentralized projects and protocols founded and managed by minorities, and that have been built to support minorities too. Some Initiatives Black individuals and communities, for instance, have developed numerous crypto projects to address economic inequality and empower themselves. Examples include Equity Coin, a Black-owned cryptocurrency that invests in affordable housing, and Long Neck Ladies, an NFT project by a young Black girl that has generated significant revenue. Black-owned DAOs and crypto businesses, like some crypto exchanges, are providing access to and funding for underrepresented groups, enabling greater financial inclusion and eliminating racial biases in funding processes. Women and the LGBTQ+ community have found an open space in crypto as well. Namely, NFT collections like Queer Rise and Bit Baddies aim to represent women and queer culture, while supporting organizations like wayOUT. OutRight, and Little Pink Houses of Hope. Other initiatives, such as The MetaPride Land Festival and First Contact, provide a safe metaverse space for LGBTQ+ individuals and support LGBTQ+ charities. AthenaDAO focuses on women’s health research and education, while Crypto Tech Women empowers women in tech through education and advisorship programs. The Queer Museum of Digital Art supports queer artists, and the Yes Queen Club promotes diversity in the crypto world with proceeds supporting inclusion initiatives. SheFi offers crypto education to women and non-binary individuals, and the NGO Diversity in Blockchain is dedicated to ensuring equal participation in the crypto industry. What’s left to do? Well, decentralized protocols don’t care about who you are, where are you from, or what are your current circumstances. They’re mostly automatic systems designed to include everyone, so we are able to use them for whatever (harmless thing) we want. The one inclusion-related thing we must still worry about in crypto is the potential censorship of these systems, be it by governments, by companies, or by any other centralized player. That’s why we should use the most decentralized and censorship-resistant protocols. On Bitcoin and Ethereum, for example, large mining pools or nodes controlled by a few entities can potentially influence transaction processing and their inclusion into the blockchain. Additionally, infrastructure providers like major exchanges and wallet services can become points of centralization, impacting the network's overall decentralization and susceptibility to censorship. Recently, the global community was shocked by the news about the Binance card program closure. This October, Binance users from EEA countries got notifications that after the 20th of December, all Binance cards issued in this region will be terminated. crypto However, this news did not come as a surprise to experts. For example, I wrote about the possible closure of the program back in late August. Indeed, even then, we received information that both VISA and Mastercard would likely end their interaction with Binance. It’s clear that payment networks have immediately stopped their cooperation with Binance because of its global legal issues, especially court cases against the SEC and CFTC in the United States. Additionally, a Binance Card program with Mastercard for Latin America and the Middle East was terminated in August. However, there was a chance that in the European Union, Binance/Visa would make an exemption and let to use already-issued cards for existing users. This didn’t happen. In August, Binance hastened to reassure its clients and announced support of direct withdrawal to fiat accounts by Binance Pay for Latin American users. For EU residents, direct fiat withdrawal was unavailable after PaySafe European payment provider was rejected from cooperation with Binance this September. However, on 19th October, the exchange claimed that it had new partners to provide EURO payments, deposits, and withdrawals. That’s why, if you are a Binance user living in EEA countries, you can easily withdraw your funds to your bank account in EUR. Nevertheless, thousands of Binance card users in the European Economic Area are frantically looking for alternatives. Crypto cards: key stats Today, cryptocurrencies and cryptocurrency payments have already become quite popular in Europe. For example, this is evidenced by research, which contains actual data about crypto adoption in payments in the EU. It includes only Eurozone 19 counties: Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Spain, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Finland, Greece, Slovenia, Cyprus, Malta, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. ECB Stats 2022 According to that research, the average percentage of crypto owners in 2022 inside the European Union was about 4%. Countries where crypto assets are most popular include Slovenia (8%), Luxembourg (8%), Germany and France. This research also gives an overview of the most common use cases for crypto-investment purposes and as a payment solution. As you may see on the chart below, currently, crypto is more of an investment than a payment solution. However, 11 EA19 countries presented in the chart have at least 30% of crypto owners who use it for payment for payment purposes only and/or both for payment and investor purposes. We also may conclude that there are 7 countries where at least 10% of crypto users enable it for payments only: Lithuania (24%), France (18%), Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, Slovenia, Spain, and Greece. The average percentage of crypto users in EA19 countries that use it for payment purposes only is almost 10%, and for both, about 20%. There are relatively low levels of crypto payments, according to the chart we have in the Netherlands, Finland, Germany, and Estonia. Crypto card transaction volume for Europe is still unknown. However, there is data about global transaction volume for the last few years. For instance, based on the total value of transactions made using crypto credit cards exceeded $1 billion in 2021. The number of crypto credit cards then was fewer compared to today. In the first quarter of 2022, Visa customers made $2.5 billion in payments in crypto-linked cards. That was 70% of the company's crypto volume for all of fiscal 2021. Probably, it lets us estimate the total value of all VISA crypto card transactions in 2022 as $10 billion. , Invezz Hypothesis: Based on in 2021, VISA and Mastercard reported a Payment Volume (for ALL PAYMENTS) of $10.89 trillion and $5.96 trillion, respectively. Crypto cards provide easy payments with low fees for the daily needs of crypto users. So, it’s not a surprise that people are looking for substitutes after the closing of the Binance card program in Europe. And there are at least dozens of crypto cards in the world in total. In our study, there are almost 100 of them, and these are only the cards that are publicly available on the net in English. This number doesn’t contain cards and crypto card providers still in development - only complete solutions. Nevertheless, not all of them are available for EEA countries, and at least we can talk about 20 different crypto cards public in the European Economic Area. Large crypto exchanges such as Coinbase, Gemini, Bybit, Bitstamp, Kraken, Nexo, Crypto.com, eToro, and Bitpanda have their crypto cards. Also, crypto card providers such as Xapo, Wirex, Choice (exCrypterium), Plutus, Monolith, and ShakePay. My name is , and I am the Product Engineering Director for Pantos; working at Bitpanda for more than three years in different roles having the main purpose of building and growing software engineering teams. I discovered in its early days, but it got my attention in 2017 when I started to get acquainted with cryptocurrencies and learn about cryptography. Unfortunately, most tokens today are deployed on a single blockchain and must be wrapped to be interoperable with other blockchains. With Pantos, we introduce a native multichain token standard that seamlessly supports multiple chains. These include Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Avalanche, Cronos, Fantom, and Celo. We plan to support more blockchains over time. How do multichain token systems differ from traditional token systems in terms of their ability to achieve interoperability? Traditionally, tokens are issued on a single blockchain like Ethereum. These tokens must follow a well-defined standard to be usable across different wallets and applications. For example, fungible tokens on Ethereum have to adhere to the ERC-20 standard. A single-chain token standard like ERC-20 defines several different operations for a token but does not specify any functions for cross-chain token transfers. A multichain token standard adds these cross-chain functionalities. We have designed our lightweight multichain token standard (PANDAS) for Pantos. Our goal was that PANDAS multichain tokens are fully compliant with the native token standards (like ERC-20) on all Pantos-supported blockchains but additionally have a set of functions necessary for cross-chain token transfers. The goal of these new features is to make it possible for our smart contracts and off-chain components to safely and scalably move tokens between different blockchains. Hence, PANDAS multichain tokens can easily be supported by any wallet and third-party applications to achieve blockchain interoperability. What impact do you think multichain token systems will have on the blockchain industry? Multichain Token Systems are just the first steps into a more interoperable blockchain landscape. We will see more focus on arbitrary cross-chain messaging, enabling smart contract calls across different chains and giving decentralized app developers superpowers to build the next generation of trustless apps. How does blockchain interoperability impact the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem, and what kind of opportunities does it create? Interoperability is already impacting the DeFi ecosystem heavily today. We can see many decentralized exchanges like Uniswap launching on multiple chains and opening up many opportunities for liquidity providers and arbitrage bots. The cool thing is that we are building infrastructure that is empowering people. It opens up new ways and possibilities to interact with different blockchains. How do interoperability and cross-chain communication impact the tokenization of assets, and what benefits does this offer? The tokenization of real-world assets is big, and we see major banks looking into this topic. But, again, we identified the need for future-proof solutions. Over time, tokenizing money market fund shares or other real-life assets, for example, means that those assets could be used as collateral in different DeFi ecosystems and that the total value locked on different blockchains would increase considerably. Tokenizing institutional assets would transfer a huge value into the world of crypto so that DeFi's revolutionizing mechanisms can be used for trading, borrowing, and lending. In addition, multichain systems offer the benefit of not being dependent on a single blockchain network. Rather, the assets can move between all of the chains, and you can have the freedom to choose. Therefore enabling the transfer of value and, in the future, tokenized assets freely between different blockchains and DeFi ecosystems is a goal worth working towards. What are the key benefits of issuing multichain tokens for businesses and individuals that use blockchain technology? The key benefit for businesses is that they can focus on their actual product while we provide a worry-free future-proof infrastructure. For example, suppose a big bank or other institution wants to issue a token on-chain. In that case, they don't need to worry about a blockchain network becoming obsolete or stopping to work because the tokens are not bound to a single chain. Instead, token owners can easily transfer the asset to the most suitable chain for their needs. Can you discuss any recent developments or innovations in the area of blockchain interoperability that you find particularly exciting? One of our recent innovations was our work on oracle scalability, enabling voting-based oracles to be economically scalable. As an R&D project, we welcome a changing landscape and are eager to push the space forward and shape the future of blockchain interoperability together. Our research team has been industrious in the last few months. We are always looking into further optimizing the system and finding new ways to make it better and/or cheaper without compromising on the security side of things. How can we minimize the dangers of cross-chain interoperability? We looked into some of the bridge hacks to find out what went wrong and if we could also become a potential subject of vulnerability. The surprising results showed that most of the hacks happened because of simple mistakes, such as publishing code changes before fixing vulnerabilities, poor-quality code, or inadequate internal procedures. Most of the time, if effective development methods and quality assurance procedures had been in place before the code was released, these occurrences might have been avoided. Mainnet releases should be issued only after extensive testing and auditing to ensure that all functionality is as planned and that no money are at risk. Pantos differs from most other solutions in that we do not lock any tokens on the source chain for native token transfers. Native Pantos cross-chain transfers always consist of a burn transaction on the source chain and a mint of the tokens on the destination chain. 7 Metaverse & Gaming Cryptocurrencies To Invest In 2021-2022

On the 3rd of May 2020, the third Bitcoin halving took place. This halving means that miners will now receive only 50% of the Bitcoins as a block reward, earning 6.25 BTC after the halving instead of 12.5 BTC. Since the block reward will be halved, the number of Bitcoins entering circulation will be halved too, this means that: 6.25 Bitcoins will be created every 10 minutes for the next 4 years before being halved again. 1,312,500 Bitcoins will be produced and after the next halving (2024) only 656,250 Bitcoins will be generated until the 5th Bitcoin Halving in 2028. This reduced production of new Bitcoins brings increased scarcity to the cryptocurrency which is already scarce due to: A limited maximum supply of 21 million Bitcoins due to clumsiness by some of the earliest investors. 20% of Bitcoins being lost forever As we all know, increased scarcity, coupled with high demand always increases the market value of an asset. Whilst many people have their opinions on how Bitcoins market value will be affected, a mathematical prediction model paints a bullish picture of where Bitcoins price could be in the time following the halving (2020 & 2021 - 2024). Statistical model predicts a fair value of $55,000 to $100,000 for Bitcoin with 95% accuracy In March 2019, an institutional investor based in Europe who goes by the name , released a popular article on Medium titled “ .” "PlanB" Modeling Bitcoin’s Value with Scarcity The article contained the image below, which shows Bitcoins total market value over time, modelled using a linear regression. The linear regression model predicts a $55,000 to $100,000 price for Bitcoin. This is roughly 8x-15x from it's price of $6,800 before the halving in May 2020. Bitcoin's price has already gone past the $55,000 prediction, reaching $63,000 in May 2021 and $68,000 in November of the same year. The funny thing is, even if Bitcoin did reach $100,000, that would mean that Bitcoins value didn't even grow as much as it did after the previous halvings. For example, the first Bitcoin halving in 2012 saw a 20x increase in value and the second halving in 2016 saw a 33x increase in price. This means that it's possible for Bitcoin to eventually surpass the $100k price tag predicted by this statistical model. Scarcity Increases Bitcoin's Market Value This model proves what we all already know, that there's a significant relationship between Bitcoins scarcity (stock-to-flow ratio of SF) and its market value. As you can see in the lower right corner of the model, this relationship has an R Squared (R2) of 95% (0.947328), showing a very high correlation between the two data points. (SF + Market Value) To help you better understand the above model, the following data points are represented as follows: Gold is represented using a large yellow circle Silver is represented using a large grey circle Bitcoin is represented by the small, rainbow coloured circles which encircle the black power regression line. The color of the Bitcoin dots are influenced by the "months until halving", which is indicted on the right hand side of the model. Okay, so Bitcoin's value is driven by scarcity, we all knew that right? How is this information important? Well, as explained earlier, the Bitcoin halving reduces the amount of Bitcoins generated by 50%. This means 50% less Bitcoins will enter circulation every 10 minutes, increasing its scarcity. This increased scarcity will lead to higher market value according to the statistical model and price movements since previous halvings. Bitcoin has already broken past the lower price prediction of $55,000 multiple times in 2021, and we could a further increases in Bitcoins price going forward. Now lets go back to the linear regression model. As you can see, as we get closer to the halving (referenced by the small dots shifting through green and blue) the market value of Bitcoin hovers between the $55,000 and $100,000 mark. However this doesn't mean that Bitcoin will magically shoot up to $100k once the halving occurs. In fact by looking at historical data we can see that it actually takes for Bitcoins value to grow exponentially after a halving: much longer After the 2012 Bitcoin Halving, it took a year for Bitcoin to go from $11 to $1,100 in 2013. After the 2016 Bitcoin Halving, it took a year for Bitcoin to go from $600 to $20,000 in 2017. After the 2020 Bitcoin Halving, it took a year for Bitcoin to go from $6,800 to $68,000 in 2021. If Bitcoin does reach $100,000, it could be a slow climb towards the price target based on historical evidence. Let's look at previous Bitcoin halvings and the effects on it's price. The First Bitcoin Halving in 2012 The first Bitcoin halving occurred on November 28th 2012 when one BTC was worth around $11. A year later, bitcoins price surged to a mouth watering $1,100 in 2013, a price never before seen with Bitcoin. It had only been one year since the halving and Bitcoin had grown 100x. Bitcoins price eventually fell to around $220 and it remained below $1,000 for the next few years. Even at its bottom Bitcoin was still up 20x from it’s price before the halving. The Second Bitcoin Halving in 2016 The second Bitcoin halving occurred during July 2016. Bitcoin maintained a price of around $600–$700 before rising to $20,000 during the 2017 bull market. Bitcoin experienced a growth of over 33x from its price before the and over 1,818x from its price before the second halving first halving. Bitcoin's recovery on the road to the 2020 halving The chart below shows how the value of Bitcoin has grown after every halving as well as the number of Bitcoins that will be generated during each 4 year period between the halvings. The chart above is courtesy of @ChartsBtc on Twitter. Bitcoin reached a price point of $10,000 on June 1st 2020, the first time since February 2020 and after a slump to $4,656 in March 16th 2020. This lines up with the prediction in the chart above for Bitcoin hitting $10,000. If you look at the green lines on the chart, you'll see that they reach into a range of $70,000 to over $100,000 when going into the 2020 - 2024 category. What to expect from the Third Bitcoin Halving in 2020 according to Experts Lets look at what some top experts have to say about how the halving will affect Bitcoin. Kraken CEO, Jesse Powell seems to be optimistic about Bitcoin reaching $100k after the halving. He believes Bitcoin will reach a price point of $100k or $1m. When I hear people talking about a bitcoin "correction" I'm thinking $100k, maybe $1m. That's what's correct. an investor based in the USA, was also bullish with a Anthony “Pomp” Pompliano, $100k Bitcoin price prediction by the end of 2021. With a fixed supply asset, as demand increases, we continue to see price appreciation. One of the largest drivers of that demand or increase in scarcity is the halving in May 2020 which I think is going to be a big moment and is about 18-19 months from the start of 2021. Anthony Pompliano continued to say: So I think that will be a big moment there and something that we see in the past that has caused a large appreciation in price. Pantera Capital Founder and CEO Dan Morehead seems very bullish, , he told them he expected a price target of half a million dollars. in a letter to investors in April “If history were to repeat itself, Bitcoin would peak in August 2021 — at $533,431.” The overall sentiments appear to bullish but again they all seem to agree that Bitcoins price could grow gradually, like we have seen with the previous halving's. Final thoughts Personally, I feel that Bitcoins market value will follow historical trends and grow to a new high after about a year. The increased scarcity, increased awareness and adoption, coupled with previous halving occurrences make me positive about this. Secondly, the linear regression model seems to mirror the expectations of various experts, despite actually being more conservative with a $55k to $100k outcome. Why Bitcoins Price Might Reach $100k or Higher: 2021 - 2022

Decentralized finance (DeFi) is one the biggest and most exciting spaces in the crypto world. Yield Farming in particular is very popular due to the ability to earn passive income by buying and locking up your crypto vaults to be used by defi applications. Iron Finance is a stablecoin protocol that enabled investors to earn massive APY's in their liquidity pools. Their stablecoin IRON is backed partially by collateral (other stablecoins) and by the cryptocurrency TITAN. This post will look at what yield farming is, Iron Finance and why TITAN's price collapsed. What is Yield Farming? Yield Farming, also known as liquidity mining is a way for investors to earn passive income. Yield Farming works by investors purchasing and locking up cryptocurrency pairs in liquidity pools. These liquidity pools serve different purposes depending on the platform: Decentralized Exchanges (DEX's) need liquidity so users can easily buy and sell different cryptocurrencies without the need for an orderbook. Decentralized lending systems like AAVE have Lending Pools where investors can provide liquidity for Flash Loans. Yield Farming is the main source of liquidity for DeFi applications. In return for providing liquidity, investors are rewarded in tokens with annual APY's ranging from 3 - 10%. Reddit Yes that's over 4 billion percent annual APY. The thing is, these pools don't last very long and below we'll see why. What is Iron Finance? Iron Finance is a multi-chain stablecoin protocol with it's own stablecoin called IRON. IRON is a partially collateralized stablecoin that exists on multiple blockchains, namely the Binance Smart Chain and Polygon (Matic) blockchain. Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies which are pegged to the US dollar, so the price must stay stable at a value of $1. It's common for the price to fluctuate a little below or above the $1 value ($0.98 - $1.02), but if the value strays too far ($0.75 - $0.50 or lower), the stablecoin loses it peg, meaning it's not worth one US dollar anymore. Iron Finance's stable coin is called Iron ($IRON) and it's backed by collateral including BUSD, USDT and USDC, the rest of it's value is backed by TITAN a volatile cryptocurrency that is used to mint new IRON tokens. Through Iron Finance users could either mint or redeem tokens. When minting tokens, investors bought TITAN and USDC, and locked those into it's respective liquidity pool (TITAN-USDC). In exchange, they're paid interest in the form of IRON tokens which can be sold and reinvested into the liquidity pool to increase the amount of IRON earned daily. Redeeming is when investors sell (or "redeem") their IRON for TITAN or USDC. Now, TITAN-USDC wasn't the only liquidity pool available. The most popular pools where on the Polygon network with daily APY's ranging from 1.5% to 5%. Iron Finance's most popular liquidity pools: IRON-USDC - 1% - 2% daily APY before collapse. TITAN-MATIC - 4% - 5% daily APY before collapse. Investors could access these pools via DeFi platforms like and . Beefy Finance Polycat These high returns are very attractive to investors for multiple reasons: Transaction fees on the Polygon (Matic) network are very cheap costing less than 0 MATIC per transaction, basically almost free to use. A $10,000 investment would net you $200 daily on the IRON-USDC pair and $400 daily on the TITAN-MATIC pair. Since Beefy and Polycat are auto-compounders (they reinvest the interest earned) your earnings would look like this after 5 days: A $10,000 investment would net an investor $11,040.80 ($1,040.80 profit) after 5 days on IRON-USDC. A $10,000 investment would net an investor $12,166.52 ($2,166.52 profit) after 5 days on TITAN-MATIC. A $100,000 investment would net an investor $110,408.08 ($10,408.08 profit) after 5 days on IRON-USDC. A $100,000 investment would net an investor $121,665.29 ($21,665.29 profit) after 5 days on TITAN-MATIC. The main risks lie with the TITAN token losing it's value and IRON losing it's peg which would cause investors funds to decrease in value. What happened with Iron Finance and TITAN? As mentioned earlier in this post, large APY returns don't last forever. On the 16th of June the value of TITAN started to drop, reaching $14 by 17th of June before dropping to below $0. The main cause of this collapse is referred to as a "bank run", this is when a large number of customers withdraw their funds from a bank, making it insolvent. In this case, large investors (whales) removed their tokens from Iron Finance's liquidity pools, causing the value of TITAN to plummet which also caused IRON to lose it's peg to the US dollar. Whales were removing liquidity from IRON-USDC pools, selling their TITAN for IRON and then selling that IRON for USDC. This caused TITAN to drop from $65 to $30 in 2 hours. Since IRON is partially backed by TITAN, IRON lost its peg, dropping to around $0.70. within an hour to $52 and IRON regained it's peg, but it wasn't over yet. The price recovered At around 3pm, more large investors started to redeem IRON and sell their TITAN. Due to the large number of IRON being redeemed, huge amounts of TITAN was being minted which flooded the market. The increasing TITAN supply, combined with the constantly falling price, created a negative feedback loop: Investors redeem IRON, which mints TITAN, thus flooding the market. Investors sell their newly minted TITAN. The price of TITAN on DEX's falls due to selling pressure. Since IRON is partially backed by TITAN, IRON's price falls and it loses it's peg. More investors panic sell TITAN, causing the price to drop further. Since the price of TITAN keeps falling, IRON cannot regain it's peg. Since IRON cannot regain it's peg, investors mint more TITAN to sell. As you can see it's a vicious cycle of investors minting and selling TITAN, causing IRON to lose it's peg, which reinforces the previous behaviour. Now the price of TITAN is less than a dollar and IRON is worth around 75 cents. Final Thoughts If something seems to good to be true, it most likely is. If you're interested in yield farming I recommend sticking to safer liquidity pools with lower and more stable APY's.
