When creating a business based around drop shipping, most of the focus can often go into what your site looks like, what you sell, which platform you’re on, etc. These are all important aspects, but something of equal importance to remember is where you are getting your products from. One of the most popular places to get products from is AliExpress. This article will explain why AliExpress isn’t always the best option, and what other options there are if you decide AliExpress isn’t for you. What is Drop shipping? When ordering products, most traditional businesses will buy in bulk, so they have all their products available as soon as their customers want them. This can lead to additional stock which hasn’t been sold - to get rid of this stock these stores will often have sales so the stock can move along to make more room in their warehouses. This is not the only way of getting products. With drop shipping, you only order what you need, which cuts out the need for sales and unnecessary storage space. Drop shipping businesses will act as a ‘middle-man’ in the buying process. A person will order a product from your business at retail price, and then the business will purchase that product from a third-party seller (such as ) at wholesale price. By using this method, you are limiting the unnecessary products you carry and are maximizing your profits by not spending too much on storage. AliExpress Is Drop shipping ethical? When discussing drop shipping, a question that routinely comes up is ‘is drop shipping ethical?’ The short answer is, yes - Drop shipping is ethical. Whenever a business is selling something there is always the potential for extortion. As long as you are charging fair prices for your wares and are not taking advantage of anyone there is no reason why your drop shipping venture would be unethical. What’s the problem with AliExpress? The vast majority of AliExpress suppliers are based in Asia. This means that if you are wanting to order some product from them it could take a long time for it to get delivered to your country or the country that the customer is in. This leaves you with the option of whether or not to wait for the long delivery times or to have some product in storage available to deliver immediately. Both options could hypothetically work, but with sites like Amazon being able to offer next-day or even same-day delivery consumers’ tolerance for wait times has gone down dramatically. Also, keeping a select amount of products at hand can be beneficial, but if you’re starting to store too much you are lessening some of the benefits of drop shipping. Namely needing less storage space for product. It is possible to find AliExpress shippers that have warehouses in the US, but this is often more difficult for a variety of reasons. There is no way for AliExpress to verify the location of a warehouse, so many lie about their location, knowing that people are more likely to buy from them if they say they’re based in the US. Additionally, since these US-based AliExpress sellers know that they are in demand they are able to have higher prices than some of the Asia-based warehouses. People are still using AliExpress to procure their stock. This is largely due to two reasons: One, AliExpress is one of the in the world, meaning that it will always be at the forefront of people’s minds when deciding what site to use. This will rapidly decrease the time it takes for products to get to you, usually arriving in less than half the time it would take if you were to purchase from a seller in China. You can also order a batch of inventory and send to their US warehouses to avoid the holiday season rush. Setting up a HyperSKU account is completely free, so there is minimal risk involved on that front. HyperSKU makes their money from the shipping costs and product margins in getting the goods to you, so there is no need to worry about any hidden costs. HyperSKU One of the potential downsides to HyperSKU is that their stock can be more expensive than AliExpress, so it becomes a question of whether the decreased delivery time is worth paying more for the product. Another alternative to AliExpress for getting your products is . Spocket has suppliers all across the world, so you can choose to buy from a local supplier, to avoid longer delivery times. Spocket Comparatively, Spocket has significantly fewer product options available than HyperSKU, so you may not be able to get everything you want to sell from them. Conclusion There are positives and negatives to every platform that you can get products from. If there was a clear better option, then no other ones would exist. In the end, it comes down to a personal preference - what’s more important to your business. If you value your time the most and want to reduce your delivery times then I would suggest working with HyperSKU. They offer a large array of products and are able to get them to you faster than a lot of other dropship suppliers. However, if you are just starting out and need the prices to be as low as possible, then it may be worth staying with AliExpress for a while whilst you find your footing in the market.

Make Money With Retail-Arbitrage-As-A-Service Using Amazon and AliExpress [A How To Guide]

I’ve been on a few ordering sprees on AliExpress, I must admit — others might call it an addiction. It’s amazing that you can order stuff for pennies (cents, or however you may call it) including shipping from across the world — and thus save quite a bit compared to buying at home, where quite a few middlemen are taking their share. The savings do really add up, the more you order from China. I want to share some observations and insights that I’ve come across over the last year-and-a-half of being a regular Ali-customer. Thus, here go the seven wonders of AliExpress: 1. Free Shipping On first sight it really amazes that AliExpress, respectively the sellers on there, can offer free shipping for many products. It’s mostly smaller and lighter products where shipping is free, so don’t expect to get free shipping on heavy machinery. Having been flabbergasted myself and then having looked into the economics of it, I have found, that, for one, shipping is way cheaper from developing countries as compared to the other way around. Secondly, the Chinese government subsidizes shipping apparently. Considering that, free shipping now makes a little more sense. I have read that sellers sometimes just end up paying a few cents for shipping. Also, they usually keep down the packaging cost by just wrapping it in these plastic bags (all too familiar if you’ve ordered from Ali a few times). As I understand it, free shipping probably is a loss leader for the (national) postal offices of the destination countries, though. They do have to provide the shipping services on a reciprocal basis via the . Universal Postal Union 2. Tax Benefits Depending on where you live and the local laws, you won’t have to pay any VAT/GST on smaller amounts. Above some thresholds though you will have to pay this tax and, depending on product and country, also customs. It still is usually cheaper to comparable products at home. I usually try to stay below these thresholds though. Often the sellers just declare minimal values for custom purposes themselves anyway, and then it really depends if your local customs goes through the hassle of collecting taxes and fees. In any case, you can always refuse the package once customs wants money. It will go back to China and you will get a refund. 3. The Same Stuff as on Amazon Only after ordering from AliExpress for a while and comparing prices to Amazon, I have realized that really many products are just being resold on Amazon — most likely sourced from AliExpress or it’s big brother Alibaba. It’s crazy at what markups they are being sold then — 300% or 400% is not uncommon at all, neither is 900%: 900% price difference on Amazon vs. AliExpress 4. It’s Like Christmas Buying from AliExpress is like Christmas. Let me explain: since you will have to wait 2–3 weeks on average for your products to arrive, you won’t remember what you ordered (if you ordered a bunch), and will then get a nice surprise once they arrive —similar to what Christmas gifts are supposed to be.As for the long shipping times: on top of the nice surprise effect, I frame it as practicing my patience — not a bad skill to have. 5. No More Fake Stuff As is the common expectation — and as is the case with many other oriental shopping platforms — one would think, there’s a lot of fake stuff being sold on AliExpress. But that’s not the case at all. In fact, I would put forth, you can find more fake stuff on Amazon (and eBay for sure). Apparently, AliExpress used to have that problem, but they have really cleaned up their act (maybe even too much). As for brand name products: you definitely find them on AliExpress, and they are usually genuine, but aren’t usually a bargain. I’d say you can get better deals at home for brand names. On AliExpress, you do find though, products that are very similar to their branded counterparts, but lack the branding. 6. Customer Focus (Copied from Amazon?) Amazon is known for its customer centricity That was and still is one of the core tenets Jeff Bezos set out with. And it’s usually true. From my experience, Amazon really tries to do right by the customer as much as they can. It seems like AliExpress has copied that aspect of business to serve its Western markets (AliExpress is the arm of the Alibaba group targeted at customers in Western countries directly). I have had a few dispute cases, where mainly the product wasn’t as described or had some fault (like a zipper without the actual puller you use to open and close it). In all these cases, I got my money back — without going through the hassle (and big postage fees) of sending back the item. AliExpress has a proper process in place to resolve these issues where they get involved themselves and, from what I’ve heard, usually side with the customer. This isn’t the case for many oriental shopping portals — in fact, it’s the exception. (is that a word? well I mean: customer focus). 7. What to Look out for And, I thought, I would finish with a couple of general hints for shopping on AliExpress: I wouldn’t buy everything on AliExpress. It’s tough to give general advice here, but just be smart about what kind of product you buy. I usually go by the amount of orders, the seller ratings, as well as the product ratings. Also, I would suggest to check the written feedback from customers who have bought the product, and the product pictures they have provided in their reviews. All pretty straight forward, and maybe too obvious to even have mentioned it. That “holiday” specifically created to celebrate materialism and consumerism. Let’s try to do it the right way: Black Friday Only buy what you really need Don’t buy for buying’s sake. There’s enough trash in the world already. Think about — or even sleep over (but then, Black Friday might be over) — the question of whether you really need it. Frugal and minimalist ideas are good for you. If you have figured out that you really need it, then go for it — after checking if buying second hand is an option, of course. Buying on Black Friday might make sense — if it truly is a good deal. Don’t fall for alleged deals The methods are known: raising prices shortly before Black Friday, then lowering them again, and pretending like it’s a huge discount. Or: just skipping the price wiggling altogether and just say it’s the best deal ever. Don’t fall for those. Do some research before you hit that buy button. Use price tracking sites such as for Amazon — prices fluctuate quite a bit all the time — and check if it really is a good deal. Also, check price comparison sites. GitHub My experience In my situation, I used the PICOFLY chip purchased from AliExpress to modify my Nintendo V1 Switch. Without a microscope or any experience in micro-soldering. I used a budget soldering iron. Although I suggested using flux, I neglected to utilize it myself, leading to an dirty solder. While the installation eventually worked, the process was tedious and stresfull. What to do after the hack You must load the software that starts after boot and must be on the SD card. Easy route You can use , which is a package of different tools. The community will tell you that you must install individual tools to understand how they work. The reality is that copy-pasting different tools to the SD card will not help you understand the tools, so don't be afraid to take the easy way out. This is very common in the community, where people claim the only correct way is without using the script. Of course, this is wrong. HATS linux arch archinstall Where do I find Hats? This is helpful because some games are bigger than 4GB, which is the maximum file size for FAT32. DBI - Tool for managing game save files. Searching the internet, I didn't find any simple solution on "How to read data from car parking sensors," so I decided to write a short and easy-to-understand article to help robotics engineers reverse engineer the cheapest waterproof ultrasonic sensors on the market. What we need Cheapest Chinese sensors that you can find on the market (Alibaba, , Taobao, , etc.) Aliexpress Amazon 12-volt power supply (Picture 2); Arduino board with 5-volt logic (skip ARM versions with 3.3 volts); Any oscilloscope or logic analyzer; Computer with Arduino IDE. Basics First, we need to disassemble the sensor case ( Picture 5). We need to connect the black wire (pink dot) to “-” and the red wire (blue dot) to “+” of our 12-volt power supply. The green dot (GND) is connected to the GND of the Arduino board, and the red dot (DA) to any PWM-supported PIN of the Arduino board—PIN 3 in my case.  As you can see, we have 4 connectors to our sensors. We will not connect them because we need to find each sensor's address; it will be easy to detect them in that case (Picture 6). Make sure to check national chains as well as local storefronts. Forgotten objects are perfect for creating something new. From radios to car parts flea markets can offer a trove. These markets also provide an opportunity to meet other like-minded individuals. Sell It Here Trader Bucks Swap-O-Rama Auctions, Surplus, & Liquidation Online auction sites like along with can be another resource for finding cheap gear in large quantities. These sites have a wide variety but be sure to check the items’ condition and factor in shipping before making a bid! These sites are best used when you know that you need a large quantity of one specific type of item. An example is a handful of GSM/LTE hotspots for use in a simulated forensics exercise or a bunch of padlocks for a village. Friends/Family, the "Table of Free Stuff", & the Junk Drawer Don't forget about your friends and family! Much like the "Table of Free Stuff" we all have a junk drawer or two in our homes. Take a look through yours and see if there's anything that can be repurposed. FB Marketplace & Craigslist and are great resources filled with people selling all kinds of items. Be sure to read the descriptions carefully and ask the seller any questions you might have before making a purchase. Keep in mind that the best deals tend to go fast, so be sure to check these sites frequently and act quickly when you find something that you're interested in! Stay safe out there meeting up with anyone FSA/HSA Stores Many healthcare providers offer flexible spending accounts (FSAs) and health savings accounts (HSAs) that can be used to purchase medical equipment. Look for items like blood pressure & glucose monitors and other medical devices that can be used in your next project. Recent updates to the Food, Drug, & Cosmetic act mandating that medical devices meet certain cybersecurity requirements has made it more difficult to find vulnerable devices - great for patients; bad for hackers. Additionally, these subreddits can offer a of anonymity. It is always important to approach any online marketplace with caution and to verify the legitimacy of any seller before making a purchase. Check out this list of markets - Apple, Hardware, AV, MechKeyboards, etc. Recommend using PayPal G&S; If it seems like a scam it's probably a scam. level Many of these Markets have since moved to Discord after Reddit API changes! Recommend checking out for cheap daily deals and flash sales on electronics, computers, and mobile devices. They offer a wide range of products, from electronics to household items, at discounted prices. What overstock Amazon couldn't sell Woot will and at a discounted price. A great resource for picking up phones. Woot WiGLE DevKits (Amazon Sidewalk) Many companies offer development kits that include hardware and software! These kits can be a great resource for finding new and exciting items. The Dev Kit can create devices that can communicate on Amazon's low-bandwidth, long-range network of smart home devices. The kit includes a module that can be added to devices to enable them to communicate Amazon Sidewalk Scrap Yard, Recycling Center, Pick-a-Part If you're looking for materials can be a great resource. These places are a treasure trove of used items, including a variety of metals, electronics, and other materials that can be hacked and/or repurposed. Some recycling centers even have areas where you can take apart old electronics to salvage the parts. Be sure to check out these places for a goldmine of affordable items. scrap yards and recycling centers Pawn Shops Pawn shops are another great place to find cheap stuff to hack because they often have a wide variety of items. Many of these items are sold for a fraction of their original cost, making them perfect. Additionally, pawn shops are a good source for items that may be harder to find elsewhere. With a little bit of social engineering negotiation, you can often get an even better deal on the items. So if you're on a budget, don't overlook your local pawn shop.
