In an insightful and interesting Q&A conversation, Hackernoon contributor Brian Wallace interviews Nachum Kligman, co-founder & CEO of Book Like a Boss, an online booking platform. #1. What do you currently do and what’s your favorite part about it? I am the co-founder & CEO of Book Like A Boss, a booking platform that makes it simple for anyone to sell a service in less than an hour. We launched in 2017 and have tens of thousands of users in over 100 countries. My favorite part is when we get unsolicited 5-Star reviews from our customers or when I’m on a Demo with a customer and they just say “Wow”. It makes all the hard work and challenges worth it when you know you are having a positive impact on a person and their business. #2. What are you currently excited about at BLAB? We recently announced the launch of our Enterprise Product. We launched as a solution for individuals and in 2021 we released our company plans for those with medium sized businesses from 3-300 employees or sales reps. We have now released the ability to white label and blend into other existing platforms and can handle from 5,000 to millions of users. With this launch we also announced a partnership with Duda, a leading Website Builder with over 20,000 Agencies as customers and powering more than a million active websites. How did you get started with your Tech Career? My first tech experience was an idea I had back in 1998. It was my first start-up, a company I called FunRaze - The Fun Way to Raise Money. It was a platform that enabled companies to donate products to a charity of their choice. They would receive free publicity and a tax write off for their donation. We would then post the item on our site where anyone could put in $1 or more depending on the item and at the end of the auction we would randomly choose a winner from everyone that entered. We would take a 15% platform fee for every auction and it was the perfect win/win/win situation. I had celebrities lined up to get involved and raised some initial funds and had a large law firm taking care of all the legal work for a percentage of the company. Unfortunately, after 4 months, the law firm told us the bad news and that what we were trying to do was illegal and considered gambling. We would need to get a license for every county in every state for every auction, basically an impossible task. This was 25 years ago. I was shocked back in 2012 when Omaze was the first to introduce what I tried to do back in 1998. The way they got around the legal issue was that they had a way for anyone to enter any of their auctions for free without needing to purchase a ticket. They way the government couldn’t call it gambling if you could enter for free and only pay for additional tickets or because you wanted to. I didn’t think this was a good business model and it seems they are having some issues now in the USA. #4. Tell us more about the things you write/make/manage/build! I love taking ideas from nothing and bringing them to life. In 2002 I started an Interoperable Instant Messaging company called IMVITE. I was the first to put an RSS feed into a messenger and created a built-in mall with a built-in affiliate program. I left in 2005 over a disagreement with my partners. I wanted to take our messenger and integrate with our own Social Network. My partners didn’t think Social Networking would be anything so I left. I then started a company called Qoof, a video shopping player. There are 4 technology patents in my name for coming up with the idea to put overlays on top of videos. I left in 2010 when an investor gave me an ultimatum, either allow him to buy 85% of the company for $500k (there was a downturn in the markets and we needed funds) or fire my 12 employees and close up shop. I sold my shares and was left with less than 4%. So I left the company after saving them and the company later exited under the name Viewbix based on my ideas to turn the company around. Then I had a few more projects as most good entrepreneurs, mostly failures with a couple of successes until I came up with the idea for Book Like A Boss at the end of 2015. I pitched my partner on the idea and we launched in June 2017. It’s been my biggest success to date and has been mostly bootstrapped with tens of thousands of happy users all around the world. #5. What’s your favorite thing about the internet? It’s probably what everyone would say, but the truth is the ability to keep in touch with old friends and family is unparalleled. The ability to share videos, photos or just a simple hello to let people know you care is something that was not so simple 20 years ago. Now with a click of a button you can share your children’s birthday party pics with your family all over the world. #6. What is your least favorite thing about the internet? Definitely the addiction. There is always another email, another message, another article, another customer service ticket waiting to be answered etc.. I try to get back to people as fast as possible, especially to my employees who are waiting for answers from me. I find it hard to just totally turn off my phone for deep work or even for family time. I’m getting better at it, but I still look back at quieter times when you actually had to speak to someone in person and you would be able to give your undivided attention. #7. If you were given $10 million to invest in something today what would you invest in and why? Is it cliché to say my company? Lol. Truth is there is a HUGE game changing project I would like to do that involves AI and the way we communicate with those we need. I don’t want to say more right now, but I hope to break ground on this project in 2023. #8. What’s something you’re currently learning or excited to learn? I’ve been following the online newsletter industry for about a year now and I love the new software companies (shoutout to Beehiiv) that are coming out as well as the courses and newsletters about newsletters. I don’t have the time to start one right now, but I do love picking up tips and seeing how people are becoming successful. It’s all in the list! #9. Would you rather travel 10 years into the past or 10 years into the future? Give reasons for your answer. For sure 10 years in the past. Everyone wishes they could change something from their past that would create a brighter future. Why go 10 years ahead and miss out on things you could have changed as well as all that time spent with loved ones and friends.

Pioneering Online Bookings: A Talk with Nachum Kligman, CEO of Book Like A Boss

GraphQL is a newer way to create APIs that are very flexible and give users more control over how they use your API. However, with this extra control in your hands, it puts more effort on your part on how to call the GraphQL API. Unlike a REST API which you call and then receive a response determined by the API developer, with a GraphQL API, you have to develop queries to pull out information that is important to you. In Python there are several client libraries that can help you call GraphQL APIs more easily. GraphQL Clients Python has a few GraphQL clients that work really well. While you can use a general HTTP call in Python or a general library like or , GraphQL-specific clients make it much easier to generate queries, insert variables, and listen to subscriptions. Below are a few libraries I found in the past that work well. HTTPX Requests is a GraphQL client that includes the most features, so if you want a way to make GraphQL queries with all the bells and whistles, this library is for you. GQL is a smaller client that still has support for many GraphQL features. This library has fewer dependencies and is smaller and sometimes can be easier to install if you are having version conflicts with GQL. Python GraphQL Client Take A Different Approach: SGQLC While Python GraphQL libraries are great and help you to generate and make queries more easily, you still have to put in the effort to figure out which queries you want to make. This means exploring your GraphQL API and deciding which parameters you want, and then creating a query to pull the information you want. takes a different approach. SGQLC gives you tools to generate a Python library out of a GraphQL schema. Once you have your custom library built, you can use it to make GraphQL calls even easier. Below I'll walk you through its usage. Simple GraphQL Client - SGQLC 1. Download your GraphQL Schema First download your GraphQL schema into a JSON dump. python3 -m sgqlc.introspection https://myapp.com/graphql schema.json 2. Create a Custom Python Library Now that you have a JSON schema you can convert it to a custom Python library. sgqlc-codegen schema schema.json schema.py 3. Use Your Custom Library in Your Python Code Now that you have a custom Python library, you can use Python without writing queries to call your GraphQL API. However, other Python libraries like GQL and Python GraphQL Client are also great tools for a more standard approach.

But later, it turned out that my work model was the exception rather than the rule. How to Run Multiple Terminal Commands in ONE, Like a Boss

Finding your niche in the technology landscape is exciting and fulfilling at the same time. When your application or service is made available to customers, you feel that same thrill of completing some level of education, winning a game, or producing some artistic gem for others to enjoy. At first, this was great! But seconds later, they realized they lacked the capacity to meet customer demand. While the commercial in the link above was related to shipping and logistics, the same problem exists at the service level. Knowing when to scale up (and to scale down) to stay ahead of demand not only saves the customer experience but can yield financial rewards as well. In this article, I am going to explore scaling options within the ecosystem. Heroku How Do I Know When I Need To Scale? In the Vertabiz video (above), the team realized a need to scale up their capacity when the number of orders exceeded their expectations. For a smooth customer experience with web applications, capacity should be added before existing services reach 100% utilization. The concept of knowing "when to scale" is just as important as building a scalable architecture. After all, scaling up too quickly will consume more costs than required, and scaling up after the fact will impact performance and potentially lose customers. The same costly scenario exists when demand decreases, and there is no need to employ additional capacity. Heroku provides the following options to help gain insight on knowing when capacity needs to change for your application or service: referencing the Metrics tab in the Heroku Dashboard provides a graphical representation of historical demand for the application, which can justify changes to the current capacity using the add-on, which can help understand where additional capacity is required by your application loader.io employing a add-on from the Heroku product marketplace to keep an eye on performance Monitor Scaling Vertically vs. Horizontally Depending on the design of the application, it is possible to scale two different ways to meet consumer demand: - increase to a larger Dyno type. Think of this as upgrading to a more powerful system to process requests. Vertical scaling - increases the number of Dynos for the same Dyno type. Horizontal scaling In most cases, simply adding instances horizontally does not fix the problem; that is, unless the application architecture is prepared for that scenario, as noted in the " " aspect of the . This is where load balancers or API gateways are often introduced. processes Twelve-Factor App With Heroku, routing requests is part of the ecosystem — just another way Heroku saves time and resources. You can read more about this here: Request Distribution with Heroku Manually Scaling with Heroku The manual approach to auto-scaling with Heroku simply means someone will utilize the Heroku dashboard or the Heroku command-line interface (CLI) to address a demand-related need for a given application or service. Using Heroku Web Dashboard In the example above, if I wanted to increase the processing power of a Dyno configuration (scaling vertically) for one of my services running in Heroku, the following steps would be utilized: Navigate to the Resources tab on the Heroku dashboard: Single-click the Change Dyno Type button and make the appropriate selection. Follow any remaining instructions on the screen. Save the request. Heroku will take care of the rest for you. If I wanted to scale my existing Heroku (Professional) application horizontally using the same user interface, the pencil icon in step number one would be selected. The ensuing screen would allow the number of Dynos to be increased as needed. Using Heroku CLI Using the CLI is another option to manually scale Heroku applications or services. However, this choice does rely on your knowledge of what the desired result will be. As an example, to increase the number of Dyno instances, the following CLI can be executed: heroku ps:scale web=3 To change the Dyno type, the following CLI can be executed: heroku ps:type worker=standard-2x Keep in mind that changes to the Dyno type do not alter the number of instances. Of course, savvy DevOps engineers can use external processes to execute the Heroku CLI to automate Dyno scaling in Heroku by having a scheduled process execute CLI commands. Autoscaling with Heroku If you are running Heroku at the Performance-tier or have Dynos running in Private Spaces (dedicated environments running on an isolated network), autoscaling is built into the level of service provided by Heroku. For those situations, the Resources tab in Heroku Desktop includes an Enable Autoscaling button, which introduces the following dialog: Since this feature is limited to more advanced tiers of the Heroku ecosystem, the following link provides excellent documentation on this feature: Scaling Your Dyno Formation Other Autoscaling Options For applications running on other tiers in Heroku, there are several add-on products available in the : Heroku Marketplace I have worked with a few of these add-ons, which are broken down into the following autoscaling categories: - scheduled based autoscaling Scheduled mode - autoscaling based on request/response time Smart mode Scheduled Autoscaling Mode In the scheduled mode of autoscaling, changes to the number of Dynos running in Heroku are known to the engineering team supporting the application or service. There are two subcategories of the approach: - add-on leverages a dedicated UI for scaling User Interface - add-on utilizes CLI to achieve auto-scaling Dynos Scheduler User Interface The user interface subcategory contains Heroku Marketplace add-ons focused on setting schedules for applications or services running in Heroku. Those options include a purpose-driven user interface to make things easier for the end-user. The following add-ons allow for Dynos to be autoscaled on a scheduled basis: AutoIdle FlightFormation It is important to note that AutoIdle is a "scale down to zero" option only and is recommended for non-production environments. The primary goal is to save money for non-production Dynos that are not currently in use. Scheduler The scheduler-based add-ons can be employed to pass in CLI commands and can be used to scale up and down as needed. This approach leverages the following Heroku CLI commands (noted in the Using Heroku CLI section above): heroku ps:scale web=3
heroku ps:type worker=standard-2x The following add-on products allow for CLI commands to be executed on a scheduled basis: Cron To Go Scheduler Heroku Scheduler Process Scheduler These solutions often lean on the basic Cron functionality running on underlying systems in the Heroku ecosystem. Smart Autoscaling Mode The limitation of the Scheduled Autoscaling Mode is that the demand pattern for the application or service is fully known. Meaning, the higher and lower demand levels can be predicted. This may not always be known — the Vertabiz video in the introduction is an example scenario. The smart mode of autoscaling alters the number of Dynos based on the current request/response time realized in your application or service. The following add-on products offer this functionality: Adept Scale (limited to Ruby only) Rails Autoscale Using the Smart autoscaling option ensures unexpected changes in demand will be handled without any human intervention. This is helpful in those scenarios where demand exceeds any expected levels from the options noted in this document thus far. Conclusion In my publications, I have been referring to the following mission statement I proffer all IT professionals: “Focus your time on delivering features/functionality which extends the value of your intellectual property. Leverage frameworks, products, and services for everything else.” J. In my 30+ years in the IT industry, I have witnessed how wonderful solutions lose their appeal because of negative performance realities. Currently, the following instance-count ranges exist for each Dyno type in Heroku: While autoscaling incurs a cost, properly implemented levels will net overall savings from manual attempts at scaling your application or service. How to Scale Like a Boss with Heroku Dynos

For years I have been frustrated and I wanted to find a proper way of sorting my pictures. I had photos coming from several devices, and made manual copies on my laptop and on my external hard drive. I ended up with tons of folders and a lot of duplicates. Back then, I only used Ubuntu and its default photo manager .It was pretty handy, but images of my travels were mixed with my casual smartphone pictures. The worst part was the fact that all my pictures were stored on a single folder per date. Then, I started to used Mac with its integrated tool . Like Shotwell, the software is great, especially if you have Apple devices but everything is stored under one giant archive. Shotwell Photos photoslibrary Based on all these observations, I started to look for a simple and universal way to sort all my previous and future pictures. Requirements The solution should: Work on different OS, Linux, OSX, (Windows) Be viewer agnostic, i.e. i should be able to see my photos sorted directly in a folder using Nautilus or Finder Accept all devices and image formats Require few manual intervention Be reproducible: if I sort my gallery again, I should get the same result Solution In order to achieve that, I used a which is a “platform-independent Perl library plus a command-line application for reading, writing and editing meta information in a wide variety of files”. ExifTool To sort my pictures, I am using the following metadata: Custom tag to separate dedicated photo sessions, e.g. a trip in Italy The camera name and model The date The type of file Installation See ExifTool page documentation Workflow Tag events Firstly, I wanted to highlight specific events such as a trip abroad and at the same time be sure that my sorting was reproducible. If you try to import images already present in the GALLERY, they will stay in the IMPORTED folder. This means that all remaining images in GALLERY are duplicates based on the UserComment, and camera, and date and filename. With the option -o you can sort all the images in the IMPORTED folder and copy them to the GALLERY folder. I typically can’t help myself but reply with a smug answer “one that focuses on maximizing gains while minimizing risks”. But not today my friend….not today. I’m going to give you some real actionable advice and reveal to you how responsible investors create wealth with solid fundamental practices that anyone can follow. If you only take action on 1/3 of the advice that I’m about to bestow upon you here today, I can absolutely guarantee that you’ll be substantially better off than you would without this advice. Diversify Your Portfolio Historically a well-balanced profile has always contained a good mix of stocks, bonds, and real estate. Personally, this is where I heavily invest. Those who start with their investment strategy early and begin putting away money in their 20s (I'm talking about you millennial) have an exponential advantage over those who get started later. Furthermore, investing and leaving your capital in a market (stocks, forex, cryptocurrency, bonds, etc.) for as long as possible, is the primary method for accruing wealth as quickly as possible compared to an investment opportunity where  you’re merely covering your expenses. Investing in a diversified portfolio is the ideal way of obtaining wealth. However it takes time and great discipline to reap the seeds that you sew. It doesn’t come quickly like and is applicable to anyone, who has the discipline to carry out these tasks regardless of your social standing, demographics, nationality, etc. To put this into context, let’s take a look at an easily achievable goal. Let’s say you invest $250 a month at an 8% average annual investment. A person at the age of… 25 will have accumulated $878,570 by age 65.35 will have accumulated $375,073 by age 65.45 will have accumulated $148,236 by age 65. As you can see from the example above, there’s a distinct advantage to putting away money at an earlier age. You see, with a long term investment strategy, 7% per year gain stocks have literally never been a bad investment. Outside of my own personal assets like my car, house, and recreational items, 60% of my capital is invested in funds like Vanguard. 20% is dedicated to stocks like Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, and other larger cap companies. The other 20% of my funds are spread out through various cryptocurrencies. I also invest in many tax shelters like Roth IRAs in order to avoid taxes on my gains and increase the compound interest on my investment vehicles. You might have thought about implementing an exception handling mechanism for your angularjs application but what might have been stopping you is the amount of code that you would have to write to achieve it. Also, the amount of restructuring you might have to do to wrap your code in your exception handling mechanism. The problem Lets start with analyzing some code that you might have written or might have come across in your application. suspiciousController.js You can view the above code . here A quick explanation: This controller has a function which basically calls a service of . The options object just tells the service to throw an exception or not. In case it is true, it throws a JavaScript exception which would not be handled in the catch block because the catch block is essentially a reject handler for the promise. It gets executed only when the promise is rejected in the service, not when an exception is thrown. doImportantStuff doVeryImportantStuff suspiciousService In case you are wondering, what looks like. Here it is. suspiciousService.js suspicousService.js You can view the code here Now a more pragmatic approach would be to wrap your controller code in a try catch block which would mean your code would look like this. A pragmatic suspiciousController You can view the above code . here Now your JavaScript exceptions will be caught and logged and if you have an endpoint exposed from your API which logs client side errors, then you can submit errors to the API which will log them to the database. The Idea If you are thinking why would you want to log your client side exceptions to your database in the first place? You could implement this as a plugin, for example imagine a situation where you are just unable to fathom what is going wrong for a particular user because he uses a particular browser/OS/Machine etc which your application may not support completely. So you can turn this logging-front-end-exceptions-to-database or ‘on’ for a while and just have the user repeat those steps, turn the to ‘off’ and Voila! You would have exactly the information you need that is going wrong for that user due to him or her using a particular browser/OS/Machine or for whatever reason the user is facing that particular problem. setting flag setting No need to spend countless hours figuring out what could have gone wrong for the code you have written. Just inject an error logging service that submits your exceptions to database and you will get what to you need to fix that error. This becomes particularly important if your application is running in an environment that cannot be debugged like . Outlook desktop add-ins All this sounds good but there still is a small problem. Remember that we wrapped our code in a try catch block? We would need to do that for all our controllers. Now that’s nasty. That’s not neat at all. It reeks of unwanted and ugly code. Now you may want to get around this by applying try catch blocks to your services instead because that is where exceptions really matter and should be logged and known if they occur. As an example, if something is going wrong on the home page but other pages are working fine and all your services have the exception handling plugged in, then the most probable culprit will be the file (or whatever controller you use for the home page for that matter). homeController.js In that case the will look like this suspiciousService.js suspiciousService.js But still, even if we move out try catch blocks to our services from our controllers, it is still nasty! Nobody wants to write this sort of code in their sane minds until they have no other way out, isn’t it? There just might be something angularjs has in its kitty that can rescue us. The solution: Enter the $exceptionHandler angularjs has a service that you can use in order to delegate all uncaught exceptions to be handled there. An "old, but gold" trick to easily fetch Pull Requests from Github A dark wallpaper with the Github logo's silhouette in the center There's a practice widely used in popular projects hosted on for receiving contributions efficiently. The contributor creates a small branch that represents a single feature, and when that branch is pushed to the contributor's fork they create a Pull Request. I have elaborated on the best practices of how to do this in a previous post called Open Source Github One Pull Request. One Concern. As from the time of this writing, jQuery uses this model extensively among their contributors. They document the model in their guideline and use it as a requirement for new contributions. They have been using it for years. Commits and Pull Requests A common practice in Open Source projects is to request for a contributor to fork the project, create a temporary branch and create a Pull Request from that branch that represents a . single concern There are companies that also use this model for managing their development. Pull Requests allow developers to integrate their changes frequently, which reduces the chances for code conflict and make it possible to spot bugs early. This is early feedback, which is one of the core principles of . Continuous Integration There's one trick, though, that we can use to manage Pull Requests. When using Github, everyone that have permissions to merge Pull requests to the master branch have 2 options: Use the the commits to the master branch. Github Pull Request UI to merge Use in the command line to add the reference to the Pull Request branch as a remote locally ( ), fetch the Pull Request branch from that remote and then merge the commits to the master branch. git git remote add <contributor's fork url> is the most common and the easiest one. Whoever has permissions can go to the Pull Request page on Github and click the "merge" button. The first option is most commonly used when who is merging the Pull Request want to have total control over the commits that are landed on master. Why is that? Well, there are workflows that may need to commit on master with git information that Github don’t set through their Pull Request Web UI. Linus and that's why he doesn’t even accept Github Pull Requests in the Linux Kernel. The second option have complained about this in the past The issue with the second option is that you need to add a remote for every Pull Request in order to commit on master. Many Pull Requests can have different contributors with different forks. Adding all of them can become messy because you will eventually have tons of remotes in our local copy of the project. published an 4 years ago that allow someone to download all Pull Requests from a repository locally with a single command. Bert Belder interesting trick git fetch The trick is to add the line below to the file that is located from the root of the project you want to change: .git/config fetch = +refs/pull/*/head:refs/remotes/origin/pr/* The part that says can be different. It just represents the name of the remote that has a reference to the repository you want to fetch the Pull Requests from. It's the default name for the remote that git creates when we use the command . origin git clone <path to the repository> When running the command with this trick, git will fetch all Pull Requests that have been opened against that remote: git fetch The output of the "git fetch" command when the Pull Request fetching technique is applied. It's fetching the refs from a copy of the project. js-cookie Notice the part, that's when the Pull Requests are fetched from the remote. They will be available to be checked out using . [new ref] refs/pull/280/head -> origin/pr/280 git checkout origin/pr/280 Ok, now can you push the changes to a Pull Request using the same command line trick? According to the , you can't. Github doesn’t allow pushing to a hidden ref: Github documentation The remote namespace is refs/pull/ read-only — Github's " " documentation Checking out pull requests locally Any attempt to push to the ref will present the following error: ! [remote rejected] HEAD -> refs/pull/1/head (deny updating a hidden ref) The only way to update a Pull Request is adding a new remote that has a reference to the fork of the contributor who created it. If you have permissions to write in their fork, you can push any changes to the Pull Request branch in their remote and it will be updated on the Github Pull Request Web UI automatically. It's impossible to change a Pull Request using the multiple Pull Requests fetching trick because Github makes hidden refs as read-only This Pull Request fetching trick will make your workflow more convenient when working with Pull Requests. Go work for a . decentralized organization Decentralized organizations offer lots of autonomy, but they lag behind traditional organizations when it comes to actually getting work done effectively and efficiently.  As we move from traditional organizations towards decentralized organizations, which benefits should be kept, and which problems should be avoided? Benefits of Traditional Organizations 👍 Traditional organizations (at least some of them) have proven to be .  They have existing systems and standards in place that ensure that things are running smoothly. highly efficient helps move things forward faster, even when several people lower in the organization’s hierarchy disagree with the decisions. They can work full-time, or they can work part-time, or not at all.  The choice is theirs. And since there is no longer a CEO figure on top of a hierarchy guiding everyone on the same direction, decentralized organizations can quickly get chaotic and slow.  One of the largest challenges of a decentralized organization is achieving autonomy having all the autonomous groups moving in the same direction: and To achieve this, all the groups need to agree on the organization’s vision as a . This translates to an organizational structure where the infrastructure provided by the top-level organization is minimal, and more cultural than tangible.  This means that the cultural whole is not a centralized group of people, and it’s not something physical or digital that can be broken.  Instead, it’s something more like a mindset.  A shared dream, or a shared culture. Lost Potential 🤯 A workplace would lose out on a lot of great things if its people possess talent that is not allowed to flourish.  A hierarchical leadership structure tends to stifle innovation by not allowing employees to try new things without approval from their boss.  Some companies understand that this is a problem, and implement measures to prevent it from happening.  Amazon is one example of this, where the boss/employee relationship is turned upside-down: whenever a new idea is suggested the default answer must be “yes” — biasing the company towards pursuing new ideas. If a manager wants to say “no” to a new idea, they are required to write a thesis, post it internally and rigorously defend their position. A decentralized organization with autonomous groups (and individual autonomy within each group) adopts this “ principle, which is great for giving people the freedom and autonomy needed to carry out their ideas. yes” by default Autonomy + Cultural Whole 🫠 How can an organization give its groups and people full autonomy, while at the same time achieving collective productivity? We can imagine an AI system that keeps track of each autonomous group.  Instead of a human on top directing each group, a AI system could be the entity that ensures that the groups move in a direction that aligns with the cultural whole. decentralized The AI would regularly communicate with the groups to check which direction they are moving in and at which speed.  If the AI detects that some of the groups are starting to veer off course (relative to the cultural whole), the AI will nudge them in the right direction.  The autonomous groups could also be incentivized to move in the direction of the cultural whole by providing financial rewards only to those that move in the correct direction, and by providing additional rewards to those that move at a higher speed. For this to work, the organization’s culture needs to be defined in a way that enables an AI system to determine whether or not an autonomous group is in alignment with the cultural whole, as well as measuring how fast they are progressing.  This is an area that will require more research and development as we continue to explore workplaces of the future.
