What a Better Layer Would Need to Answer There are plenty of teams that do not need to solve this fully. If you have one API style, one disciplined team, one repo, native tools plus a small wrapper may be enough. But once you have multiple schema ecosystems or multiple services evolving in parallel, ad hoc checking starts to break down. At that point, what you need is not more raw detection - you need a policy layer. That could take many forms, and it does not have to be one specific implementation. But it does need to answer the same core questions clearly: What exactly changed?
