One of the characters who benefitted the most from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) was Iron Man. The character was never really a small fish in the comics, and he was featured heavily in games and tv shows.
But the movies, and the incredible performance by the actor who portrayed him, turned Iron Man into a worldwide phenomenon. For those who liked the movies and want to know more about the character, here are all of your Iron Man questions answered.
As previously stated, one of the biggest reasons why Iron Man became popular was because of Robert Downey Jr.’s charismatic performance.
The actor looked the part, acted exactly how the character should, and even put his own magic in there to create one of the best comic book movie performances ever. Even though other actors were surely considered to play the role of Iron Man, and they would have done a great job, the world should be glad it got RDJ instead.
In total, there are 3 Iron Man movies. However, the character has appeared in other MCU films. This includes all of the Avenger films, Captain America: Civil War, and Spider-Man: Homecoming.
According to Brittanica, Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, Jack Kirby, and Don Heck are the 4 men who created Iron Man. Each had a hand in creating an aspect of the character.
At the end of Avengers: Endgame, the Armored Avengers passes away after defeating Thanos and his army. He accomplished this by using the Infinity Gauntlet to snap them away. Although he saved the day, the toll of using all 6 Infinity Stones was too much for his body.
Earlier in the film, we saw how much it hurt the Hulk to use the Gauntlet. And if it hurt him, Iron Man stood no chance.
Although there is no new Iron Man, this question might be referring to a new character that appeared in the MCU. Riri Williams dons a similar suit and becomes the superhero Ironheart. She made her debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and she’s also going to star in her own Disney+ show.
The first Iron Man movie came out all the way back in 2008. It was the first movie in the MCU. 2 years later, its sequel would be released. And the final installment of the trilogy came out three years after that.
Looking back, it’s pretty crazy to think that the entire Iron Man trilogy was complete before the second Avengers movie came out, before the Guardians of the Galaxy became household names, and before Spider-Man was even introduced in the MCU.
With comic book movies being the way that they are, especially with the introduction of the multiverse, a lot of characters and actors will return in some shape or form.
However, the death of Iron Man was so emotional that seeing him again would take away some of the impact of that moment.
So, while we’ll most likely never see RDJ play Iron Man again, the character is still going strong in the comic books. If you want more Iron Man, just check out your local comic book store.
