Three Lessons from Roblox's Metaverse Fashion Report

Roblox is a beast of a game.

It has +43 million daily active users.

And more than half of the US population under 16 is playing it.

Yesterday, Roblox shared a detailed report on the Metaverse fashion trends, and it blew our minds.

It showed us where the world and online gaming is going.

Here are the three key lessons we learned that helped us think about the future of gaming in a different way:

  1. Gen Z Players Don't Mind Spending Money on Digital Clothing, Accessories, and Avatars

Here are a few crazy stats for you:

  • 25% of them own over 50 items.
  • 3 out of 4 players spend money on digital clothing.
  • 31% of the Gen Z players spend up to $10-$20 each month.

So while older generations were hesitant to spend money in-game, Gen Z players are the exact opposite.

  1. Fashion is Already Digital

+50% of Gen Z believe that a career designing virtual clothing is more impressive than being a physical fashion designer.

And 2 out of 5 of them believe expressing themselves with fashion in the digital world is more important than expressing themselves in the physical world.

Mind blown 🤯

This explains their online spending habits.

  1. Metaverse Creators are Booming

There are +200x more digital designers on Roblox than the number of fashion designers creating physical collections in the US.

In 2022, +11 million creators made +62 million virtual clothes and accessories on Roblox.

God damn!

Our Take:

Roblox is one of the most popular games among young people, so the report tells us where the future of gaming is headed.

More time spent online, more money spent online, and the trend is only getting stronger.

We would love to see a web3 game taking advantage of this opportunity, creating a similar experience to Roblox, where young people can express themselves digitally.
