A Decentralised Solution to Prevent the Threat of DDos (distributed denial of service)

When it comes to making a decision on which ICO to invest in, one must place themselves in the problem the company is trying to solve.

The most paramount concern for any company with an online presence is the security of their website and all the personal information contained within it. As technology advances and hackers become more experienced with each passing day, they become a serious threat for any website to deal with.

DDoS (distributed denial of service) attacks have become the number one threat to businesses with an online presence. There has been a dramatic incline in the volume and power of DDoS attacks over the last few years causing widespread panic amongst the online community. With an average cost of $2,500,000 (2.5 Million USD) per DDoS attack, it’s no wonder why!

A DDoS attack is a series of computers networked together to all connect to a specific website at exactly the same time. There have been multiple cases where tens of thousands of computers from around the world have all been networked to make powerful DDoS attacks. The server is subsequently over loaded and crashes, causing the website to malfunction. Attackers then extort information and value from the website by blackmailing companies, demanding money in exchange for the attacks to stop.

One of the most notorious attacks happened on October 21st, 2016. A network of over 100,000 infected computers attacked an internet management company called Dyn. For a couple of hours high profile websites including Twitter, Spotify, Etsy and Github had major service interruptions or went offline completely.

As we move forward with no real solution into how to combat the risk of DDoS attacks, blockchain technology has provided a solution.

Gladius is a decentralised solution to prevent the threat of DDos. Creating a community of network pools which not only provide a block against DDos, but will also speed up content delivery in the online community.

The future looks bright for everyone involved in the blockchain who are interested in earning a passive income. With Gladius you can now rent out your spare bandwidth to companies in exchange for GLA, the Cryptocurrency which is used within the Gladius network.

With the application of bandwidth sharing it improves the speed and quality of connections between sites whilst also contributing to network protection. It’s described as a connection of nodes. With a connection between thousands of connected nodes, all renting out their spare bandwidth, provides superior connectivity and also faster loading times.

Anyone looking to sell their spare bandwidth can do so via any Linux, Windows, or MacOS machine. Gladius automatically runs in the background, without causing undue stress to your computer.

As an ICO Gladius has real promise. DDos attacks are costing companies Billions of dollars every year. By using the blockchain, Gladius has created a solid solution to combat the threat whilst bringing real value to their community.

September 29th, 2017 -Inc.com

By leveraging the blockchain, Gladius eliminates the middle man between bandwidth providers and those needing it, and eliminates the need to buy bandwidth other than during an actual attack — so, businesses buy only the bandwidth that they actually need.

September 30th, 2017 -Cointelegraph.com

The decentralized platform provides a system whereby pooled bandwidth can be accessed and utilized in ways far superior to single-server centralized models, where bandwidth is limited.

October 2nd, 2017 -Investopia

A unique offering in the world of blockchain, Gladius aims to help users increase the security and speed of their websites. Participants can “rent” their computers’ spare bandwidth and processing power in exchange for tokens, and then use these tokens to pay for a private, decentralized hosting solution using the network’s collective power. This solution will render DDoS attacks and other threats harmless, and create a fast, safe environment for people to operate online.

October 2nd, 2017 -NewsBTC.com

Gladius utilizes the best parts of traditional DDoS protection software–comfort and usability–while at the same time offering better protection and CDN service at much lower costs.

October 2nd, 2017 -Cio.com

The benefits are threefold. First, blockchain utilization in fighting DDoS will translate into safer security. Since the network has no one single point of failure, the attackers have to shut down thousands of separate components. Second, it’ll be much cheaper by cutting down the centralized middleman, as you can only rent what you actually need to protect yourself. Last, individuals could participate in a worldwide-like-CDN, empowering and boosting speed of websites by caching content in a distributed CDN.

Gladius, is getting substantial public interest by providing a CDN (content delivery network) and DDoS protection together. Gladius’ blockchain platform offers a cheaper, faster and more secure alternative to traditional cyber security programs like Cloudflare and Akamai.
