Netscape produces Navio to Compete with Microsoft
1996In an article titled "Inside Netscape: The Software Start-Up Is Expanding So Quickly It May One Day Pose a Threat to Microsoft," The Washington Post speculated that Netscape Communications Corp. might one day compete with Microsoft Corp. Two years later, the Justice Department is investigating whether Microsoft broke antitrust rules by bundling its Internet Explorer program with its Windows operating system, and the two businesses are at the center of that probe. Internet Explorer's major rivals are Netscape's World Wide Web browsers Navigator and Communicator.
