Too Long; Didn't Read

The proof-of-work (PoW) protocol is the two most widely employed blockchain protocols. PoW fails to deliver the desired scalability to the Ethereum network. The high electricity consumption of the PoW protocols is due to the high computation power demand for PoS protocols. The network may require high-end GPUs and ASIC miners that cost thousands of dollars, as in the case of Bitcoin, forcing them out of the network if they fail to upgrade their hardware. PoS will replace PoW with PoS in a bid to bring more scalability and decentralization to the network while making the network more energy-efficient.
