After all, an iOS developer doing enterprise apps probably actually needs that spec’ed out MacBook Pro. A front-end dev doing mostly HTML/CSS/JavaScript can probably use about anything, while a backend developer who’s running and IDE and several docker containers or VMs will need a lot more of, well.. everything.

And someone doing C# on Windows talking to a local instance of SQL Server? A lot, lot, lot more.
