Alternatives to Corporate Consciousness

Thank you, @monicafreitas!  I think one of the best places to start is [Trebor Scholz's TED Talk, "Stuck in the gig economy? Try platform co-ops instead."](https://www.ted.com/talks/trebor_scholz_stuck_in_the_gig_economy_try_platform_co_ops_instead)  I'm also a big believer in [software freedom](https://fsf.org) and open source, which has created a new model for complex, large-scale software production.  The [Open Source Collective](https://www.oscollective.org/) is a non-profit doing some very interesting work in that space, providing "financial and legal infrastructure for thousands of open source projects."  

[The Commons Transition](https://commonstransition.org/) has a tremendous number of resources, including a book, on how to build a "commons-centric society."  

The [Democracy Earth Foundation](https://democracy.earth/) has several software tools to support a "borderless democracy," including proof of identity software.

But probably the most radical and direct way to transform the private sector would be to democratize corporate governance by changing the inherently oligarchical "[one share, one vote](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_share,_one_vote)" to "[one (human) person, one vote](https://www.theconstitutionproject.com/portfolio/one-person-one-vote/)" (as we would expect in a democracy).  In that case, the board of directors would still be elected by the shareholders, but the number of votes would not in proportion to the shares held by each member.  That would be entirely in the hands of the founders of the corporation, through their own internal bylaws.
