Too Long; Didn't Read

Nigeria's 2023 presidential and National Assembly elections were marred by violence, vote buying, and voter suppression. Although the Independent National Electoral Commission introduced the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System to ensure a fair election, it wasn't enough to prevent manipulation. The blockchain could solve Nigeria's electoral woes by decentralizing, securing, and making the voting process more efficient. Integrating the blockchain with biometric technologies could allow voters to vote from home, while the immutable nature of the blockchain ensures the integrity of the votes cast. Blockchain also eliminates the cost of printing ballots and hiring personnel, and results can be viewed in real-time. By solving the issues of manipulation, human error, security, and disenfranchisement of voters, blockchain could make Nigeria's elections more transparent and credible.
