Too Long; Didn't Read

Computer programming is no longer considered a form of applied art. With increasingly fast delivery cycles, the code has become disposable. Employers want cheap disposable commodity, and they want a lot of it. Only 29% of programmers see their job as meaningful, and the wast majority sees it as a waste of time. PayScale.com published a comprehensive job satisfaction survey covering well over a hundred different industries. The average number of people who are satisfied with their job is below bartenders and slightly above dishwashers.
