Maidenhead located in the royal borough of windsor and maidenhead is a town in the southeast of england historically the area has been home to a number of successful entrepreneurs including sir nicholas winton who saved hundreds of jewish children during the holocaust the town has a population of around 70000 and is situated on the river thames in terms of technological innovation maidenhead has been home to a number of successful companies including software firm sdl and it services provider softcat the town also boasts a number of local universities including the university of reading and royal holloway university of london the living wage in maidenhead is 950 per hour and the unemployment rate is currently at 32 the city level gdp is estimated to be around 75 billion despite its history of successful entrepreneurs and technological innovation the startup scene in maidenhead has struggled in recent years the rate of new companies starting and ending has been relatively stagnant and there has been a lack of investment in the area however there are signs that the startup scene is beginning to thrive once again with a number of new companies emerging in the area with its proximity to london and strong local universities maidenhead has the potential to become a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship in the coming years
