Hey all, meet Rask AI – a one-stop shop AI tool for content creators and companies who want to localize their videos in a few clicks and start speaking the same language with their audiences worldwide.

This interview was prepared by the PR team at Rask AI, represented by Maria and Liza. We had the opportunity to have a conversation with Alexandr Notchenko, the Co-founder and Head of Machine Learning at Brask(Rask's AI parent company).

Alexandr is a highly accomplished data scientist, AI researcher, and entrepreneur who has made remarkable contributions to the field of digital technology.

Alexandr has taught courses on data science and machine learning at various institutions so he was delighted to share his insights and answers with the readers of HackerNoon below.

How We're Disrupting/Improving the AI/ML Industry

We are opening up new opportunities in content creation and monetization by utilizing the latest developments in AI. Think of it as exploring uncharted territories that you didn't even know existed.

With Rask AI, we allow creatives to address a bigger market than the one that is defined by their primary language.

For the AI developers, we are helping them turn their models into products at a much faster pace than other SaaS models, by leveraging users' community, public testing, and early access to new developments in infrastructure than before.

Standing Out From the Crowd

At Brask (Rask's AI parent company), we have two groups working together: Creative professionals (producers, advertisement, and branding experts) and Machine Learning experts (Generative Computer Vision, Audio Deep Learning, and Data Engineering).

We are very technically competent, and we are acutely attuned to the needs of content creators and people working in production. I think this unique mixture gives us an edge.

Our Predictions/Thoughts on the AI Industry in 2023

What major events do you think have shaped or will shape the industry in 2023 and 2024?

The most important events that shape the AI industry in 2023 & 2024 are public access to foundational models, public access to open-source packages based on those models, and high competition in the area of turning those models into products.

Another important driver of the innovation and the AI field will be the widespread adoption of chat-based technologies as well as other generative models, with widespread usage feedback and quick iterations on the products that will follow.

How Has ChatGPT Affected the Industry?

GPT allowed people who are not programmers to effectively program general-purpose computers in a way that they understand and can share with others by sharing the prompts, or other tricks like in-context-learning that non-programmers can do.

We can compare the rise of ChatGPT with the adoption of personal computers. Also, ChatGPT can be a multiplicator of the efficiency of other models that can be converted into text such as audio and video.

The introduction of a method to generate a large amount of unreliable information - will highlight the need for tracking statements through web-of-trust, to check if this information is accurate or not, and if it’s based on evidence or just an AI-generated fiction.

What Jobs Will AI Take First in the Next 5 Years?

I will take a lot of jobs and data processing, especially in the areas where people are only an interface to the data or to some digital system those positions can be taken by different kinds of chatbots.

Another field that is likely to be revolutionized by this technology is converting and structuring data into structured,  and we can use much much more diverse set of models on the structured data itself.

What Industry Can AI Help/Improve the Most Right Now?

  • Marketing – Because AI will help navigate the space of human interactions.

  • Data analysis – Because processing and summarizing data will become easier, many simple queries can be made through AI systems rather than through trained data scientists.

  • Search products – Because the representation of data in AI systems is very multi-dimensional, it makes it easier to find specific points.

How Reliant Is AI Development on Training Data in 2023?

Data is 40-60% of success in Machine Learning, and scale is what gave us these powerful foundational models. But we see a trend of model fine-tuning (adaptation for specific narrow tasks, or some subset of data) becoming more data-efficient and can be done faster on cheaper hardware.

What Should People in the AI Industry Be Most Worried About in 2023 and Beyond?

People should be aware that AI like any other technology has a lot of ways of harming people if not treated with caution.

AI professionals need to participate more in regulation discussions, have a voice, and try to communicate better what AI products can bring, and not forget about why we can do this work right now, particularly the open-source community of tools, and access to large datasets collected by academia.

What Word Defines the State of AI in 2023?

“Prototyping” -  Much of the value will come from different AI models that are combined together to test the opportunity and serve many niches by speeding up processes that require humans in the loop.

Why We Decided to Participate in HackerNoon’s Startup of the Year Awards

We decided to participate in HackerNoon's Startup of the Year awards because of the significant milestones and rapid growth we have experienced.
