Welcome to the first installment of the dev blog! This will be used to detail the features which will be under development each week. You can then track our progress and suggest ways to improve Shrimpy based on the features we will be rolling out each week. So, let’s get started.
We will be rolling out a few new exchanges based on the feedback from our users. We appreciate everyone who voted for their exchange of choice. There were a few which stood out as clear winners.
You guys really want Kucoin. There isn’t much else to say about it. Every time we ask for exchange suggestions, people shout Kucoin! Their large selection of assets and support for NEP 5 tokens will offer our users a larger range of assets which they can include in their portfolio.
This has also been voted highly. Although it doesn’t have many assets, we believe this could potentially be a strategic pick for us. Coinbase has a massive hold on the US market. Many of their users may not use more complicated exchanges like Binance or Bittrex. This presents us with an opportunity to grab these users who would love the Shrimpy application!
In addition to their large trading volume, Bitfinex has been a massive player in the crypto space for years. Their reputation, user base, and offerings present it as a great option for Shrimpy support.
Some users may have noticed our issues with Poloniex. After repeatedly contacting support (we have not received any responses), trying to work around their problems, and constantly attempting to make it work, we have decided to retire Poloniex. We understand this may be frustrating for you. It is certainly frustrating for us. I hope you are able to find a new home on another exchange with us.
In addition to adding more exchanges, we realize it would be impractical for our users to have 5 different Shrimpy accounts if they wanted to be on each exchange. We know you love Shrimpy, but that might be taking it too far. In order to solve this problem, we will begin rolling out support for multiple exchanges on a single account. This way you never need to switch accounts again in order to check your holdings on another exchange.
We will begin rolling out a new program. We are calling it the “Early Access Referral Program” (subject to change). The way it works is simple. We will be releasing new features, but they will only become available to those people in the program. Don’t worry! Everyone will have access to these features a week or two later. So, the users in this program simply get earlier access to all features on Shrimpy. The way you become a member of the Early Access Referral Program is by referring friends, participating in the community, and helping the Shrimpy team.
In order to support these changes with multiple exchanges, parts of Shrimpy will be getting a face lift. If you notice something out of place, don’t be alarmed! It might be in another location or we might be adjusting for a larger overhaul which will come in the future.
The settings tab looks pretty awful. This will be updated, but we will also move the ability to input API keys and add multiple exchanges to this tab. This way, settings will be global settings for all of your exchanges. We may change this in the future, but it is an easy first step to get us running with multiple exchanges per account.
We will be removing the ability to set API keys from the allocation tab. This will be relocated to the settings tab. There may also be small updates to buttons, how allocations are saved, and other small adjustments.
The first time you log into the Shrimpy application, the process isn’t great. There are a bunch of blank tabs and it probably looks a little overwhelmingly empty. We will change the process so new users have an easier time getting walked through the application the first time they enter.
As discussed in our team post, we are adding two new full time members to the Shrimpy team. This means we will be spending time bringing them up to speed, getting them acquainted with our system, and making sure they are settled in. Once again, don’t forget to welcome them as you see them helping people out on Telegram, Discord, or any of our other social media outlets.
We will be collecting more data from exchanges and other third parties. This may not be noticeable for our users, but it will help improve our service over the long term.
Please leave suggestions for the next blog post! We would like to find some new topics to cover this week.
Don’t forget to check out the Shrimpy website, follow us on Twitter and Facebook for updates, and ask any questions to our amazing, active communities on Telegram & Discord.
