Vanishing Youth: The Mysterious Little Golden Rock
Too Long; Didn't Read
In the aftermath of their journey from an atom, Alan sacrifices himself to save Glora's world, leaving his father and friend Babs. He shrinks and promises to return as he ventures into the atom's infinitesimal realm. A month later, Alan has not reappeared, and Dr. Kent, heartbroken and aging, seeks to recreate the drugs that allowed their journey. The fragment of golden quartz is guarded in a museum, but nothing happens. Dr. Kent's health deteriorates, and Babs and the narrator watch the quartz, reflecting on the vastness of space. Meanwhile, John Baird introduces the "Noctovisor," an invisible eye to see in the dark, and Prof. Goddard's rocket experiments advance, culminating in a successful launch using new propellant.
