Coming across a rare, captivating historic photograph, previously unseen yet deeply resonant, is a powerful experience. With blockchain technology, we have the perfect opportunity to preserve these invaluable images, safeguarding them from manipulation and ensuring future generations can embark on a timeless visual journey.

The shift from physical to digital photography has made the art form more accessible, affordable, and democratic, but there are growing concerns about the authenticity and rarity of specific digital images. Fortunately, blockchain technology offers a solution by preserving visual artifacts as non-fungible tokens (NFTs). This gateway to our collective heritage safeguards historic photographs from manipulation and loss while ensuring provenance and ownership, creating a gateway to our past that was previously unimaginable.

Candy x Getty Images: Preserving History on the Blockchain

Candy Digital and Getty Images have joined forces to bring to the blockchain an array of limited-edition digital photographs derived from Getty's extensive media library. This partnership aims to bridge the gap between tradition and innovation, unlocking new avenues of historical and cultural discovery and appreciation, while revolutionizing the way we perceive and engage with these priceless cultural artifacts.

These efforts have culminated in Exposure: by Getty Images & Candy – a creative partnership that involves the release of rare historical photographs, revealed monthly to the public and preserved on the Palm network. This provides the opportunity to provide exceptionally rare images from legendary photographers, including archival photographs that have never been seen before, to individual collectors and photography enthusiasts. At the core of Palm's design philosophy lies an unwavering commitment to ecological sustainability.

Unlike its predecessors, Palm leverages a consensus mechanism known as Proof-of-Individuality (PoI) that sidesteps energy-intensive mining processes. This game-changing approach not only mitigates the environmental impact typically associated with blockchain networks but also ensures a more equitable distribution of network resources. Security is a paramount concern in the realm of blockchain, and Palm rises to the challenge with its robust consensus protocol. Built upon a fusion of Proof-of-Stake (PoS) and Proof-of-Work (PoW), Palm's consensus mechanism strikes a delicate balance between security and efficiency.
