So let’s start! Tell us a bit about yourself. For example, name, profession, and personal interests.

Hello everyone, my name is Dmitrii Ivashchenko, and I am a lead software engineer with over 10 years of experience in developing mobile games and backend systems.

I have progressed from being a junior full-stack developer in a small studio to becoming the head of a mobile game development team in a large international company.

As of today, I work for Amsterdam-based MY.GAMES, which has over 1 billion registered users worldwide.

I am also interested in AI/ML technologies and robotics.

Interesting! What was your latest HackerNoon Top story about?

My previous article on HackerNoon was dedicated to ways of asynchronous programming in Unity. I tried to demonstrate the evolution of techniques and approaches from the earliest to the more modern ones.

Do you usually write on similar topics? If not, what do you usually write about?

I plan to write on various topics related to software development, performance optimization, and game architecture. I also plan to occasionally share my experience in team management and personal reflections on career.

Great! What is your usual writing routine like (if you have one?)

My usual writing routine involves the morning hours when I am in my most productive state. I try to find time every day to write at least a small fragment or idea for future articles.

Being a writer in tech can be a challenge. It’s not often our main role, but an addition to another one. What is the biggest challenge you have when it comes to writing?

The biggest problem for me in writing is finding time between my main job and family. However, I try to dedicate time to writing, as it is one of the ways to share knowledge and receive feedback from the community.

What is the next thing you hope to achieve in your career?

In my career, I hope to continue expanding my knowledge and skills in the fields of software engineering and game development.

Additionally, I would like to participate in large international projects, collaborating with talented developers and professionals from all over the world.

This will give me the opportunity to learn different problem-solving approaches, adapt to new challenges, and exchange experiences with colleagues from different cultures and knowledge areas.

Ultimately, I hope to reach a level where my knowledge and experience will allow me to make a real and significant contribution to the development of the industry, improving the quality of products and user experiences, as well as inspiring and motivating other developers on their path to success.

Wow, that’s admirable. Now, something more casual: What is your guilty pleasure of choice?

My main hobby, besides working in the field of technology and game development, is related to traveling and exploring new cultures. I enjoy discovering diverse countries, cities, and natural beauties that reveal an inexhaustible source of inspiration and new ideas to me.

Traveling allows me to step out of my comfort zone, meet interesting people, and broaden my horizons.

It also contributes to personal growth and the development of decision-making skills, adaptation to new circumstances, and communication with people from different cultural and ethnic groups.

Do you have a non-tech-related hobby? If yes, what is it?

I am constantly studying various strategies and approaches to managing my own finances, investing in stocks, bonds, cryptocurrencies, and other instruments to increase my financial literacy and ensure a stable future for myself and my family.

This hobby allows me to learn from professionals in the field of finance, keep track of economic news and trends, and share my knowledge and experience with friends and colleagues.

I believe that developing skills in personal finance and investing is an important aspect of ensuring a quality life and achieving long-term goals.

What can the HackerNoon community expect to read from you next?

Next time, the HackerNoon community can expect to read my articles on automating game user interface development processes and different design patterns used in game development.

What’s your opinion on HackerNoon as a platform for writers?

My opinion about HackerNoon as a platform for writers is very positive. It provides an opportunity to share knowledge and experience with a wide audience, receive feedback, and establish connections with colleagues-developers and other technology professionals.

Thanks for taking time to join our “Meet the writer” series. It was a pleasure. Do you have any closing words?

Thank you for the opportunity to participate in the "Meet the writer" series and share my thoughts and experiences with the Hacker Noon community. I hope that my articles and ideas can be useful to other developers and professionals in the industry.

I encourage everyone to share their knowledge and experience, as it helps us grow as professionals and advance our industry forward.

Don't stop learning, seeking new opportunities, and sharing your successes with those around you. Good luck to all of you in your professional and personal endeavors!
