Welcome back to another installment of our HackerNoon Company of the Week feature series! If you’re new around here, every week, we like to share an awesome tech company from our tech company database, making its evergreen mark on the internet.
This week, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on CoinGecko, a cryptocurrency ranking website that provides a 360-degree overview of digital currencies and their current standings. Taking the guesswork out of the state of crypto, CoinGecko provides a fundamental analysis of the crypto market and more. In addition to tracking price, volume, and market capitalization, CoinGecko tracks community growth, open-source code development, major events, and on-chain metrics.
CoinGecko was launched in 2014 by founders TM Lee (CEO) and Bobby Ong (COO) in Malaysia, making it one of the earliest platforms explicitly created for tracking cryptocurrency data. At this point in 2024, CoinGecko has over 8+ years of historical crypto data with over 13,000 cryptocurrencies tracked, thanks to its longstanding tenure.
In addition to taking the guesswork out of the state of crypto, CoinGecko also hosts free learning resources and a wide variety of additional educational tools for Web3 enthusiasts taking their first steps into the ecosystem. The team has published the widely popular “How to DeFi” and “How to NFT” books, along with hosting a ton of educational blog posts right on the CoinGecko website.
At HackerNoon, we’re always looking for new opportunities to bring fun events and new contests in partnership with our friends across the tech world. To that end, HackerNoon is happy to state that we have worked extensively with CoinGecko to bring you some awesome writing contests, including the #crypto-api writing contest that ran earlier this year from April to July.
From crypto data APIs to in-depth guides using the CoinGecko API tool and more, the Crypto-API Writing Contest generated over 22 hours of reading content and 71 top-notch stories to parse through.
Check out the following list of tech-savvy finalists who blew our socks off with their submissions!
Don’t forget to be on the lookout for the next sponsored writing contest or whichever ongoing contests are happening on the HackerNoon Writing Contests Announcements page.
That’s all for this one, folks. Until next time!
The HackerNoon Team.
