I am writing this 3 days before Demo day for the Berlin 2017 program, and I am not as sad as I would have anticipated. Here is why.
There is no before and after Techstars. At least not in our case. I don’t mean that the program wasn’t useful for us. Techstars has helped us greatly in many aspects: being data-driven, a great network and traction. But in the current state of our company there will be no break after Demo day. We are in the middle of fund raising and launching our new product — Vaultoro. I know now it won’t feel like “a before and after pitching”, we still need to get up the next day and keep contacting investors.
Mentors are still on call. Maybe not sitting at the next desk, but I know I can voxer Rob Johnson (the managing director) and get a response in minutes.
I won’t miss my fellow founders. At least, I won’t have to. Not only are we staying in the office pass the program end-date, but some of our cohort’s companies are moving to Berlin. We can still hire remote tech talent and get our wifi self-fixed. Not to mention we are still going for drinks! — for real you guys.
There is also #FounderCon. The place where Techstars founders meet up. This year is in June in Berlin. I am not missing it.
