TLDRvia the TL;DR App

A crazy idea to move beyond the mere number of characters.

In one of his latest posts, M.G. Siegler, general partner at GV (formerly Google Ventures), explores the idea of 280 character replies on Twitter rather than 280 character posts.

Longer tweets seem to make our feeds a little heavy, a “scan-ability” problem according to Siegler.

While I yet don’t have an opinion on the longer format Twitter has just launched, I think the platform should move the conversation beyond the mere number of characters, from 280 characters to a different measure: 24 hours.

Hear me out!

Disappearing stories like Snapchat and Instagram have changed storytelling. Even Ev Williams — a co-founder of Twitter — and his Medium team of long-form content masters have been experimenting with stories — although in a different way.

What if Twitter would launch disappearing tweets and Twitter Stories? We all know the format…

Dear Jack Dorsey and Biz Stone, is this a crazy idea?

Personally, I see it as the evolution of Twitter Moments.

Who’s on board?
