TLDRvia the TL;DR App

RANT WARNING

From Wikipedia;“LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking service. It is mainly used for professional networking.”

When LinkedIn was launched in 2003, it provided that service; you could connect with ex-colleagues, colleagues and school friends. You were able to focus on making meaningful connections.

Now, it is just a place for people to try and push their services on you or for you to see endless “inspirational” quotes (most of them allegedly from Richard Branson).

Recently, I have been contacted about infrastructure, software services and recruitment. Even a cursory look at my profile would tell you that none of those are my areas so thanks for the offer but I don’t want to arrange a call with you to discuss something that I know nothing about.

If you are trying to network with someone on LinkedIn, at least do you research and find out what the person is responsible for before making unsolicited contact.

To me, LinkedIn is becoming an annoyance rather than a useful networking tool.

Oh, and I am sure that Richard Branson has said lots of inspirational words but rather than everyone sharing them, why don’t you just act on them?
