TLDR
Progressive Web Apps (PWA) are a hybrid of web page and mobile application. They're developed using Javascript, HTML and CSS and run on top of a script called a service worker that allows them to run like a regular app in most respects. Native apps still haven’t gone away, as their download numbers indicate, but the PWA is becoming a much more popular option. There are pros and cons, but PWAs are fast becoming the smart choice, and there are many advantages.via the TL;DR App
