TLDRvia the TL;DR App

A few weeks ago I posted a highfalutin’ Hacker Noon post about my new project, TechForReporters. It was all bold pronouncements and wild-eyed searches for “truth.” What it didn’t contain was cold, hard numbers.

Now I have them. Boom:

In a few months, without active marketing, we’ve answered 32 questions with 146 expert answers. I’ve convinced 591 curmudgeonly sources to connect with 122 curmudgeonly journalists. We’ve made connections between people who know their tech with people who know how to tell a story.

I couldn’t be happier.

I also have an additional little story for you. A few days ago I posted a request for a contact inside of Cambridge Analytica. I expected it to fizzle on grill but instead it was viewed 47 times and received a real, usable lead. I sourced something for myself using my own tool. I ate my own dog food and it tasted delicious.

I can now say that this thing worked. In fact, for the first time, I’ve been very pleased with T4R and my other project. A friend of mine looked at me a few weeks ago and smiled.

“I know why you’re happy these days,” he said.

I shrugged. I didn’t know I was happy.

“That feeling you’re feeling is what happens when you get traction.”

Seems he was right.
