All Armor Types in Sons of the Forest

There are six armor types available in Sons of the Forest, and each offers different protection stats. Let’s examine them in turn.

How to Get Leaf Armor

Leaf Armor is the easiest armor to acquire in Sons of the Forest. To craft it, players will need the following materials:

  • 10x Leaves

  • 1x Cloth

Leaves can be gathered by chopping down bushes or trees with an axe, while Cloth can be found in containers all around the world. Overall, Cloth is one of the most common materials in the game, so you should have a hefty supply of it.

As for its effectiveness, the Leaf Armor provides little to no protection, so you should replace it as soon as you can. It’s the weakest armor in the game.

How to Get Hide Armor

The Hide Armor is an upgrade over the Leaf Armor as it offers increased defensive stats while also protecting players from the cold. The Leaf Armor can be crafted with the following materials:

  • 1x Cloth
  • 2x Animal Hide

Cloth can be found in almost every container, while Animal Hide is gained by skinning deer.

While technically an exploit, you can get more Animal Hide from a deer if you skin it at the same time as another player in multiplayer. This will result in both of you gaining hide from the same deer.

The Hide Armor is stronger compared to the Leaf Armor, and it’s mostly preferred by players due to offering protection from the cold weather during winter.

How to Get Bone Armor

The Bone Armor is another early-game armor set in Sons of the Forest that can be crafted with the following materials:

  • 4x Bones
  • 1x Duct Tape
  • 1x Rope

Bones can be acquired by burning any dead mutants, while Duct Tape and Rope can be found in campsites around the world.

The Bone Armor is easier to acquire compared to Hide Armor and offers similar defensive stats but doesn’t protect from the cold. It’s an ideal early-game option, as long as it’s not winter.

How to Get Creepy Armor

The Creepy Armor is one of the most popular armor sets in the game as it’s stronger than Bone Armor and can be acquired easily while exploring caves.

To get Creepy Armor, players will need to kill certain special mutants that are found within caves (not the common ones that are in the overworld) and skin them to obtain Creepy Armor.

While it’s stronger than Bone Armor, it has the disadvantage of reducing your ability to sneak past enemies.

How to Get Tech Armor

Tech Armor is one of the two end-game armor sets in Sons of the Forest, as it significantly reduces damage taken. To craft it, you’ll need the following materials:

  • 1x Tech Mesh
  • 1x Circuit Board
  • 1x Duct Tape
  • 1x Wire
  • 1x Battery

Tech Mesh can be crafted at the 3D Printer at the cost of 250 resin, while the other four items are found in containers and caves.

While harder to acquire, the Tech Armor will almost nullify any damage received. If you’re gearing up for a big expedition, this should be your go-to armor.

How to Get Golden Armor

Last but not least, the Golden Armor is the strongest armor set in Sons of the Forest. \

To get the Golden Armor, players will have to travel to a cave bunker on the east side of the map. Before going there, make sure to pick up the Maintenance Keycard from the Maintenance A bunker.

The Golden Armor offers the highest defense in the game, and it cannot be destroyed by any means. If you can get your hands on it, it’s by far the strongest armor set in Sons of the Forest.

Best Early-Game Armor in Sons of the Forest

The best early-game armor in Sons of the Forest is Bone Armor. It’s extremely easy to craft and provides solid protection stats to ensure you’re never fighting mutants without armor.

Just make sure to kill and burn any mutants coming near your base, and you’ll always have enough bones to craft as many Bone Armor pieces as you need.

The only exception is if you’re in the winter season. Then, the best armor set is the Hide Armor, as it protects you from the cold.

Best Late-Game Armor in Sons of the Forest

The best late-game armor in Sons of the Forest is the Golden Armor. While it’s tricky to acquire, you only need to get it once.

It doesn’t lose durability, and you won’t have to replace it at any point. Also, it offers the best defensive stats overall and will help you survive attacks from the strongest mutants.

In general, the Tech Armor is too expensive to be worth it, especially since it loses durability and you’ll have to replace it when it’s broken.

Wrapping up

To wrap this armor guide, these are all the armor sets available in Sons of the Forest, how to get them, and which one is the best armor overall.
