The Forrest Four-Cast: September 6, 2017

Founders, funders and other members of the entrepreneurial ecosystem are reminded that the leanest badge price for SXSW expires on Friday, September 8. Register before this early-bird deadline expires to save almost 40% on the walkup price.

The conference programming track most applicable to entrepreneurs is “Startup & Tech Sectors,” which runs March 9–15. But as always, one of the biggest values of SXSW is the chance to connect and learn from innovators in other industries. Other 2018 tracks that may be of particular interest for those searching for new entrepreneurial ideas include Brands & Marketing (March 10–15), Coding & Programming (March 10–14), Food (March 12–14), Health & Wellness (March 9–13), Intelligent Future (March 9–15) and Workplace (March 10–14).

Visit this page to see the full list of all 24 tracks for SXSW 2018.

Speakers with startup-related expertise already confirmed for March Magic include Mark Cuban (Shark Tank), Audrey Gelman (The Wing), Steve Huffman (Reddit), Dean Kamen (Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute), William Hurley (quantum computing expert), Joseph Lubin (Ethereum), Tim O’Reilly (O’Reilly Media), Bob Richards (Moon Express), Ingrid Vanderveldt (Empowering a Billion Women by 2020), Alisa Vitti (FLOLiving.com), and Amy Webb (Future Today Institute).

Stay tuned to the SXSW website in early October for more exciting speaker announcements.

Entrepreneurs are also encouraged to apply to the SXSW Accelerator Pitch Event, which runs March 10–11. But you can take a little more time on entering this competition. Entry deadline is Friday, November 10 (and you don’t gain any advantage by entering early).

Hugh Forrest serves as Chief Programming Officer at SXSW, the world’s most unique gathering of creative professionals. He also tries to write at least four paragraphs per day on Medium. These posts often cover tech-related trends; other times they focus on books, pop culture, sports and other current events.
