Skrilla Esports Wagering Platform

Skrilla aims to provide a secure and engaging entertainment and wager platform where participants can play, watch, enter contests, place bets, communicate with one and another, and more importantly, collect winnings and/or rewards.

Esports has shot to fame over recent years. Viewership is currently estimated at 161 million per month, with an annual grow rate of 40%, and according to a 2017 survey conducted by L.E.K. Sports, millennials’ showed, for the first time, preference in watching their favorite esports team over their favorite traditional sporting team.

Gambling has always been synonymous with sports. And the same can be said about esports, however wagers in the gaming world tend to work a little differently as players jockey to win in-game bonuses. Furthermore, the traditional betting system doesn’t favor the thinking of millennials’, the 18–34 year old demographic who are highly responsive to advertising, and this lack of connection presents a huge gap in the market.

Without a regulated wagering system in place, gambling in esports can be risky business. But the demand is certainly there. In 2016 a study published by Narus Advisors showed that around 5 and half billion dollars were bet by six million unique players across all betting products available at that time. This figure is expected to grow to $23bn with 19 million unique players in 2020, an amount that would net $1.81bn for operators worldwide.

Skrilla aims to bridge that gap by providing a wagering system that fits into the whole ecosystem of esports to become part of the movement itself.

Technology Behind Skrilla

The ecosystem is the brainchild of two major players in the esports industry, Puntaa; founders of the world’s first licensed peer-to-peer (P2P) platform for betting, and GAMURS Group; leading esports media network.

Puntaa created the technology stack, compliance and regulatory systems, as well as operational procedures to scale its wagering platform worldwide. The initial product gives members the ability to wager bets against each other, socialize their wins and get paid for their efforts. In 2016 the team added the Daily Fantasy eSports (DFS) platform, an interactive media platform that features live streaming content, leaderboards and real-time stats, as well as exclusive access to data and other content.

Gamurs Group is the leading gaming media network with 12 brands, 3.5 million active users per month and 3 million followers. Their flagship platform, Dot Esports, offers highly engaging coverage of live esports and news from around the world.

The First regulated Esports Betting Platform

To bring theses products to market Skrilla had to meet Australia’s highly strict rules and regulations. As a result, it is currently the only regulated esports booker in Aus.

The country is known to have one of the most well regulated and mature wagering markets in the world, these regulations serve to uphold consumer protections, perform KYC and account verifications, underage screening, anti-money laundering (AML) checks and other responsible gambling practices.

Skrilla is also part of the Esports Integrity Coalitions (ESIC) the national body recognized for maintaining esports wagering integrity. Together with other stakeholders, the ESIC works to educate the community and prevent betting fraud, cheat to win software hacks, online attacks and doping from happening.

The climate in which Skrilla has been born has afforded the team a lot of experience already (as is evident with the already live DFS), and the location offers as an ideal location to start a project that could revolutionaries the industry.

Daily Fantasy eSports (DFS) Platform

The DFS has the potential to completely transform the way fans watch and engage esports programming through social competitions against other fans to win cash. It offers a number of innovative solutions such as pool betting, the betting exchange and head to head competition.

In a similar fashion to fantasy football, DFS requests users pay an entry fee to take part in daily contests following popular tournaments for major esports titles such as CS:GO, League of Legends and DOTA2. Participants then choose their own ‘fantasy’ team from any professional players. Each player has price depending on their abilities, and the participant must choose the best members who will earn the most points.

Pool betting

Entry fees and wagers go in the pool and the odds are then calculated. Once the competition is over, the winnings are shared out based on the wagers, minus a small commission.

Betting exchange

Participants also have the option to become their own bookmaker on esports tournaments. To do this one user must propose and accept odds from other users, there’s also the options to go head-to-dead and wager on yourself in one-on-one competitions. Once complete, the system validates the outcome and executes the transfer with a small commission being paid back to the pool.

The blockchain

By utilizing blockchain at the heart of the ecosystem, Skrilla will inherit the transparent architecture to provide an immutable ledger of all transactions. This allows for the creation eliminates the need for corporate bookmakers quietly making their own betting lines and profiting from doing so.

Skrilla (SKR) Token

Skrilla will utilize its own ERC20 token to fund all transactions carried out on the platform. The SKR token will be used in conjunction with traditional currencies during the second phase of development to aid the seamless incorporation of the digital currency. Once all new transactions have transitioned to the blockchain, SKR will become the sole unit of exchange in the system.

Skrilla also plans to integrate its token with the GAMURS Group’s ecosystem to integrate benefits across both platforms. This would allow members to purchase premium education content to improve their skills, as well as additional premium services such as social networks that help users form esports teams.

The total supply of SKR will be 1,000,000,000. The exchange rate will be 1ETH = 2,000 SKR. 60% will go to Purchased Tokens; available during the pre sale. 30% will be used for Growth Tokens to provide liquidity and cover incentivized rewards and the remaining 10% will be Team Tokens; allocated to the Skrilla development team and vested to utilize for project delivery.

With the ecosystem fully implemented Skrilla members will benefit from:

Reduced fees: Skrilla removes the middleman and therefore reduces the fees

Improved trust: The decentralized blockchain records all transactions openly and cannot be changed

Incentivized participation: Members will be rewarded with SKR tokens for certain behaviors including account verifications, deposits, referrals, sharing content, following social account, entries into paid contents.

Liquidity through global player pools: Current betting pools are regionalized due to currency exchange limitations. Creating one global unit of exchange will facilitate use and increase liquidity

With several milestones already met, Skrilla’s roadmap for 2018 and beyond includes a further 6 stages before being fully implemented.

• Stage 1: Ewallet token integration, Token contests (Aus), Free-to-play contests (US + Canada)

• Stage 2: Growth token integration, Licences (US) , Token contests (US)

• Stage 3: European expansion (Malta licence), Platform transition to blockchain

• Stage 4: Head to head skill based competition, Token integration into GAMURS Group brands

• Stage 5: Betting exchange, Pool betting

• Stage 6: Token integration with external partners
