Personal branding is essential for success in any field, and it's no different in the world of Web3. As more and more people enter the decentralized world of blockchain and cryptocurrency, building a strong personal brand can help you stand out from the crowd and achieve your goals.

Many tech-savvy people in web3, blockchain and related fields want to build their personal brands to promote their businesses or to become more desired employees, especially during the bear market. The competition is too high! Also, if you’re just entering this field, you may want to become more popular and attractive to the community.

My name is Daria Volkova. I’m a Business Advisor, Brand Marketing & Communications Expert for web3 and blockchain products. In this article, I’ll advise you to earn a reputation in web3.

Useful tips for implementing in your personal branding

Building a reputation in Web3 can take time and effort, but it's achievable. Usually, mastering a particular profession and forming the desired image for a personal brand takes six months to a year.

Web3 technologies are still in the early stages of development and can be technically complex and difficult to use, particularly for non-technical users. You must be patient and persistent to build your brand in the web3 community.

1. First, you must learn as much as possible about blockchain, decentralized finances, cryptocurrencies, AR, VR and metaverses, web3 gaming, and artificial intelligence. Follow industry news, read blogs, watch videos, and attend events to stay up-to-date.

Almost every day, I read Twitter and Linkedin news, connect with people on Discord, follow projects that impact the web3 community, watch shows like Bankless, listen to Web3 Podcast by a16z, read some articles on HackerNoon and Mirror, and much more. This industry is moving so fast! Sometimes I feel FOMO about this 😅

Of course, you don’t need to know all, but you have to be updated on the main things happening in web3.

2. It’s important to define your niche. Defining your niche is essential with so many new technologies and platforms emerging in Web3. What are your specific interests and skills? Are you an expert in a particular blockchain or cryptocurrency? By narrowing down your focus, you can establish yourself as a thought leader in your area of expertise.

For example, I’m focusing on talking about business aspects, marketing and communications in Web3. I’m experienced in this, and I can share valuable information. And you need to find your positioning.

You don’t need to pretend to be someone you're not. Analyze your expertise and background to understand what you can give your audience.

3. After defining your niche, it’s crucial to contribute to community projects and create content. You can create your own project and showcase it to the community. This can help you gain recognition and build a portfolio of work that demonstrates your skills and knowledge.

It can be a software product, podcast, art project in metaverse, educational program, and other valuable work and content. For example, I run a YouTube channel - Daria’s Strategy - about business and marketing on Web3.

4. Sharing your knowledge via blog posts or public speaking can help you establish yourself as a thought leader and gain recognition for your work. Social networks friendly to web3 projects are:

  • Twitter
  • Linkedin
  • Discord
  • Telegram
  • Reddit
  • Steemit

Also, decentralized social networks on the blockchain are actively developing, for example:

  • Mastodon
  • Bluesky Social
  • Amino
  • CounterSocial

Do you want to go further and make your personal brand stronger in Web3?

If you want to go further and build a more advanced brand in web3, you should find the following tips helpful:

  • You can buy NFT or replace your own and put it on your Twitter avatar. This will make you stand out from the crowd and highlight your interest and awareness of Web3.

  • Using blockchain technology, you can prove ownership of your content, including intellectual property such as artwork, music, or writing. So, you can create something and put it on the chain using the NFT format. It also can give an understanding of your awareness of the web3.

  • One more use case of NFTs is to buy them to enter closed social clubs. For example, the famous project Bored Ape Yacht Club works this way. You can purchase the membership if you have enough money and want to join the community.

  • If you’re ready to create your personal website, it would be better to have a Web3 domain. Unstoppable Domains allow you to buy domains like crypto, blockchain, x, dao and others. It’s a simple but effective way to show your belonging to the web3 industry.

  • And last but not least, advice - you can create branded merch with AR effect or a QR code to your NFT or CV for participating in events. A hoodie or t-shirt is a perfect item to put some branded images. It doesn't cost much, but it can make an impression.

Conclusion

The simplest but most valuable advice I can give you - be authentic. Authenticity is more important than ever in a world where so much is automated. Be genuine and transparent with your audience; don't be afraid to share your personal experiences and insights. This will help you build trust and establish a loyal following.

By implementing these tips, you can build a strong personal brand in Web3 today. Building a personal brand takes time and effort, so stay consistent and keep pushing forward.
