OpenAI and Amazon have agreed to a $38 billion deal, reports Reuters.

The AI company will buy cloud services from the tech giant for the next seven years; cloud services that OpenAI will begin using immediately.

OpenAI plans to use Amazon Web Services (AWS) compute to scale agentic workloads using hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA GPUs.

AWS will also develop an infrastructure deployment for OpenAI to make sure that workloads run as optimally as possible.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said about the partnership, “Scaling frontier AI requires massive, reliable compute. Our partnership with AWS strengthens the broad compute ecosystem that will power this next era and bring advanced AI to everyone.”

CEO of AWS, Matt Garman, said, “The breadth and immediate availability of optimized compute demonstrates why AWS is uniquely positioned to support OpenAI's vast AI workloads."
