TLDR UPS & FedEx are privatized, and neither of them are practical for use for the average American sending packages or mail. USPS has not been given that luxury of choosing whom they can serve — by government mandate, they must deliver to every registered address. FedEx makes the majority of its revenue and business model from commercial addresses.
