TLDR The ExifTool is a Perl library plus a command-line application for reading, writing and editing meta information in a wide variety of files. The solution should be viewer agnostic, i.e. i should be able to see my photos sorted directly in a folder using Nautilus or Finder. To sort my pictures, I am using the following metadata:Custom tag to separate dedicated photo sessions, e.g. a trip in Italy or a trip abroad.
