The launch day is officially over, and I’m still pinching myself: We hit #1 Product of the Day.
For any maker, that orange badge is a massive milestone. But for me, this particular win carried a much heavier weight. Lately, I’ve been navigating a relatively rough patch with product development the kind of "dry spell" where you start to question your intuition and your ability to ship things people actually want. This win was a vital, loud reminder: there is always hope, and you should never stop shipping.
The Sprint: 0 to #1 in a Single Day
Product Hunt Wrapped wasn’t the result of months of meticulous planning or a massive marketing budget. It was an absolute sprint. Driven by a sudden spark of inspiration, I built the entire application in about 24 hours. It was a "hurry" build pure adrenaline, caffeine, and code driven by a singular desire: to give the maker community a way to celebrate their year of grit and growth.
When you build that fast, you're operating on instinct. You focus on the core value and cut everything else away. The goal was simple: take the complex data from the Product Hunt API and turn it into a personalized, shareable story.
The response has been nothing short of incredible. In the first 24 hours alone, 49 makers generated their Wrapped reports, visualizing their yearly ranks, total launches, and community impact. Seeing those "hockey stick" growth curves and global ranks pop up on my feed made every hour of that 24-hour sprint worth it.
Honest Lessons: Addressing the Friction
No "built-in-a-day" project is perfect, and I’m the first to admit where the rough edges are. I’ve heard the community loud and clear regarding the Developer Token.
I know it wasn’t the smoothest onboarding experience. Asking makers to navigate the API dashboard just to see their stats is a significant hurdle. However, in the context of a 24-hour build, it was the only way to ensure data privacy and real-time accuracy without a complex backend setup. It was a trade-off: speed of delivery versus ease of use.
I’m already planning to solve this. I hear you, makers! The feedback has been noted, and the move toward a frictionless, "one-click" authentication process is the top priority for the next iteration.
This Isn’t a "One-Hit Banger"
I don’t want this to be a fleeting project that disappears after the new year. I want Product Hunt Wrapped to become an annual tradition a moment where we, as a community, take a breath and look back at the sheer amount of work we put in over 365 days.
To prove that commitment, I’ve officially launched a Public Roadmap for the project. This is where the app evolves from a "weekend project" into a community-led platform:

The Vision for 2026 and Beyond
We aren't just fixing bugs; we're building a legacy. The plan for the coming year is ambitious:
- A Custom Domain: Securing a permanent home to make the project feel "official."
- Streamlined Auth: Moving past the dev-token era into a seamless login.
- Precision Filtering: Improving the logic to ensure we only capture data from the specific calendar year (no more "zombie" projects from years past).
- Immersive Viewing: Ideas like "TV Mode" and real-time widgets are already being discussed on the roadmap.
A Community Effort
I want to give a massive thank you to @jefz and @zaczuo for their invaluable advice and support during the launch. Their guidance helped me turn a fast build into a #1 launch.
And finally, to the Product Hunt community: thank you for the upvotes, the comments, and the honest, constructive criticism. You didn't just give me a #1 badge; you gave me back my momentum.
This is just the beginning. I’ll see you all for the Product Hunt Wrapped 2026 and I promise it’ll be easier to log in.
Keep building, keep shipping, and never give up.
