Last month, Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) organizer, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), confirmed that E3 will be returning in 2021 as an online-only, digital streaming event. This week, E3 confirmed more participants for the event, including some major names and publishers in the gaming industry.
Newly confirmed participants for the 2021 online-only convention include Square Enix, SEGA, Bandai Namco Entertainment, XSEED Games, Marvelous USA, Gearbox Entertainment, Freedom Games, Devious Eye Entertainment, Turtle Beach, Verizon and Binge.com. Additionally, E3 is promising that those companies will be bringing in "major announcements and reveals" to this year's event.
ESA President & CEO Stanley Pierre-Louis commented on the news, "E3 2021 is set to continue its legacy as the premier video game industry event as we add new publishers, sponsors and partners.” He added, “We can’t wait to share more details about this virtual event for audiences around the globe.”
More Companies Confirmed for E3 2021
Previously, the ESA confirmed that Nintendo, Xbox, Capcom, Ubisoft, Konami, Take Two Interactive, Warner Bros. Games and Koch Media gave early commitments to take part in this year's E3. So, at the very least, it appears the ESA has been able to secure major companies and gaming publishers to the convention for 2021. In 2020, the ESA cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Even before the cancellation due to the coronavirus, major parties and companies had begun pulling out of E3, including Sony PlayStation, Activision, and EA. Neither three gaming companies have yet to be announced as returning to the gaming event this year.
