In an age where personal data is as lucratively merchantable as oil, the third party has only afforded the individual’s ‘permissioned’ access to their digital oil wells through login credentials, the rights to which are signed away to the highest “unknown” bidder through Privacy Policies and End User Agreements, veiled in complex legal jargon.

More often than not, users either can’t navigate this legal wordplay or have limited choices available to them.

Privacy Breaches, Everywhere

Free software & under-priced electronics, are at everyone’s disposal stalking you everywhere, not just across Web2, but also in your bathroom.

The norm has been; that when a product or service is free or costs next to nothing to use, the unknowing user is most likely the product.

The average person has a minimum of 5 accounts on different cloud platforms, the existence of which may not be known to loved ones who would love to consolidate your life story in the preservation of your memory within the family and among friends. Especially when one passes away.

The same “Unknown Parties” commoditizing personal data and depriving users of basic privacy require exorbitant fees and long processes for friends or family to trace a deceased member’s digital footprint and recover their digital legacy. It doesn’t make the grieving process any easier.

Nonetheless, the individual has continued to trust the third party even when it has not come without consequence.

Personal data breaches plummeted a whopping 166% from 2020 according to the 2021 FBI Internet Crime Report released in March 2022.

The cost of a data breach averaged $6.9 billion in 2021 up from $4.2 billion in 2020 with over 2 billion user records exposed within a year.

The storage infrastructure essential to our prized centralized cloud has time and again proved to be unreliably mutable and no match against organized cybercrime. As systems get better at detecting and at times warding off the malicious intrusion, cybercriminals have banded together to dedicate their collective resources towards getting better at bringing even the allegedly securest systems to their knees.

With the world on the brink of cyber conflict, the cloud is no longer a haven for User Generated Content and more so for personal privacy.

The era of First-Party Data is upon us, thanks to breakthroughs in legislation, especially the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and California’s Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

The pandemic has left millions dead and the magnitude of unclaimed online accounts is as enormous.

So many stories that will never be told, memories loved ones will never experience, and legacies that will never be passed on.

It is estimated that by 2100, there could be 4.9bn dead accounts on Facebook alone.

The world is just waking up to the reality that data is the new oil and no one owns their digital oil deposits.

That is why are building the BioKeyPer Legacy Creator, an encrypted personal cloud for securing your digital legacy so loved ones can inherit it while giving you absolute control over personal data and privacy.

Our mission is to Decentralize Privacy and Distribute the Cloud among over 4 Billion internet users and have a strong conviction that the future of digital legacy is open-source, decentralized, and private.

We found it would be difficult to live up to the promise of saving people’s digital legacy for posterity without addressing the mutability, characteristic of Web2.

The BioKeyPer borrows its storage’s immutability from a natively embedded homegrown layer one blockchain, YOU Decentralized Privacy Protocol (YOU DePri Protocol or YOU) built on Web3 Foundation‘s Polkadot powered Substrate.

YOU DePri Protocol tokenizes User Generated Content for storage (HODLing) on a cold wallet component of the BioKeyPer Legacy Creator and Personal Cloud.

Every BioKeyPer is a node on an encrypted peer-to-peer network and is capable of validating transactions and generating new blocks on the network.

It has been stripped of the unnecessarily energy-gobbling permutations that drive proof-of-work consensus and some proof-of-stake chains.

NO ASICs. No Gas Problems. No Carbon.

The protocol implements a Proof-of-Ownership (POwn) Consensus for block creation and validation.

To ensure the integrity of User Generated Blocks/Tokens, only one BioKeyPer is allowed per Individual and is activated with the user’s biometrics at first boot.

The private & public keys are generated from a function of the biometrics supplied, activating the device, and making the node live on the network.

The node gossips its activation state, the Proof of its Ownership, to the network, for registry by the other nodes.

Storage implements ipfs architecture persisting encrypted tokenized data shards on the device but available to the entire encrypted network (on-chain) at the option of the owner.

The Legacy Creator runs on the second layer of the DePri protocol as the Graphical User Interface (GUI) for the BioKeyPer and Core Decentralized App (dApp). The user/owner interacts with the core dApp minting (creating) their life story into tokens.

The dApp has the mint feature, allowing the individual to create their life story in multimedia, import memories of loved ones from third-party digital legacy holders, and map them onto a timeline and against specific members on a family tree.

All memories are chronologically represented in a feed. All content imported or generated on the BioKeyPer is tokenized at the mint and stored natively.

Minting content or tokens generates a block on the chain the validity of which is finalized when 75% of the nodes on the network authenticate the genesis state of the authoring node, the Proof of a node’s Ownership, a basis which would crumble if individuals were allowed to farm BioKeyPers.

A BioKeyPer owner is required to nominate a minimum of 1 heir within 90 days of device activation. The nominee’s biometrics are entered and parallel keys are cryptographically stored for when the First-Party owner passes away and or the inheritance contract gets invoked.

Grandma’s secret recipe that has been in the family for generations doesn’t have to risk a data breach in the cloud. Your digital footprint doesn’t leave your bedroom, your desk, kitchen mantle, Shelf, or wherever you choose to have your mobile cloud - at home, at work, or on the go. User activity is tokenized on the encrypted unindexable device.

Your creative works are your oil bed. Your Digital Legacy is your oil well. Your content is your digital oil. Everyone gets to own the cloud on which their legacy lives, their very own rig.

A private network on which each peer has an equal opportunity at mining new blocks and validating transactions with no special mining infrastructure or paranormal electricity bills.

A people-owned blockchain enabling the future of First-Party data. Third Parties will need to service your cold wallet before being let in on where you’ve been, your interests, or what you’ve been up to, at your discretion.

We could have come up with a sexier name for the protocol’s native token other than “YOU” but it is an extension of our invitation to you, to Be $YOU.

Confidently mint your life story, and tokenize your digital legacy. Pass It On.
