TLDRElle Griffin used non-fungible tokens to fund the first chapters of one of her novels. NFTs are a type of digital asset that people can collect and trade, most notably as pictures of apes or pixilated headshots. The tokens function kind of like a stock share in that the number you have compared with the total number that exists dictates what percentage of something you own. Traditional publishing isn't really working for authors.
