Japan’s SoftBank agrees to acquire British semiconductor firm ARM for €29 billion

SoftBank is to acquire British semiconductor firm ARM for a total of £24.3 billion (approximately €29 billion) at £17 per share. ARM designs microchips that power most every smartphone and tablet on the planet, including Apple’s iPhone. The price represents a 43% premium over the closing price of last week's closing price. In 2015 alone, ARM's customers shipped more than 15 billion chips to the world, shipping 15 billion of them in the past year.
