So let’s start! Tell us a bit about yourself. For example, name, profession, and personal interests.

I am a Tech Marketer and Media Strategist. I am the CEO of Omri Hurwitz Media, our client portfolio consists of some of the leading companies and start-ups in Tech. I also write for several media channels including Forbes, The Times Of Israel, New York Tech, Tipranks, Newsbreak, The VentureCation, Hackernoon, Vocal Media, Benzinga, and more. I have a video series called “Startups On Demand”

Interesting! What was your latest Hackernoon article about?

It was titled “What if B2B marketing tactics were NBA players”. In the article, I linked several B2B marketing tactics to NBA personas as an analogy. I truly believe that metaphors and analogies are really powerful in helping readers get a better grasp of what you are trying to say.

Do you usually write on similar topics? If not, what do you usually write about?

For each publication I write for, I try to structure my writing to its audience. For example, for my Forbes column I write about certain tech industry trends, while in my Times Of Israel column, I highlight and feature individual tech leaders. On Hackernoon I focus more on writing about my own expertise in Public Relations and Media.

Great! What is your usual writing routine like (if you have one?)

I am a big believer in deep work, that has been publicized efficiently by Cal Newport’s book. While I haven’t read the book yet, I have heard him on podcasts, as well as read some summaries. I make sure to plan (calender) focused hours in my day where I concentrate only on doing deep work like writing, interviewing, or producing my video series. In our society, which is filled with so much noise, being able to do deep work, and focus for long periods of time, is probably the most valuable skill there is.

Being a writer in tech can be a challenge. It’s not often our main role, but an addition to another one. What is the biggest challenge you have when it comes to writing?

That’s a great point. I think the challenge is to find editors, who are willing to let their contributors or staff writers write freely about the actual technology or product. Thankfully, I have found great editors who let me do that. But, some tech publications only focus on funding announcements and click baits. Hopefully, awesome tech publications like Hackernoon and New York Tech Media, are paving the way to actually write and talk about products and services.

What is the next thing you hope to achieve in your career?

The main focus right now is to continue expanding our media agency. Thankfully, our clients are really happy with the value we bring and the brand awareness & lead generation that we have been providing for them. This leads to more prospects who reach out and want to work with us. Another focus is to continue to expand my writing portfolio and write and collab, with leading media publications.

Wow, that’s admirable. Now, something more casual: What is your guilty pleasure of choice?

I don’t think you should have guilt about enjoying pleasure. I love spending time with my Beautiful girlfriend, watching movies and TV shows, reading books, and walking in the neighborhood. I also enjoy eating in tasty restaurants, and hanging out with my awesome family.

I love sports and Cinema. Going to a movie theater is something I really enjoy.

What can the Hacker Noon community expect to read from you next?

Working on several articles relating to the Tech PR industry.

Thanks for taking time to join our “Meet the writer” series. It was a pleasure. Do you have any closing words?

I want to thank you guys for Hackernoon. Ask my friends, I have told them that Hackernoon is my favorite tech publication to publish and read. So keep up the great work you are doing!
