Several months after launching Zapier, 42% activation rates went up to 76%. Getting people to sign up is just half of the battle, and finding users willing to do that was surprisingly easy. The trick to solving this was watching new users’ first impressions via screen sharing. The goal was to observe, learn and improve the first impressions for all future users. Most frictions can be addressed with a one line change. The art of shutting up and letting the user talk was the key to solving the problem.
