The Cosmos community is growing stronger every day. As more and more blockchain ecosystems activate IBC and the Internet of Blockchains gains critical mass, our vision of an interoperable future for blockchain development is already being realized — and it’s about to get even better. Today, during our all-new Cosmos Signal keynote, we unveiled a partnership with blockchain gaming platform Forte to bring its industry-leading technology to our ever-expanding ecosystem. Here are the details.
As a premier blockchain gaming platform, Forte has already made a name for itself raising $185M in Series A funding led by Griffin Gaming Partners earlier this year. There are already more than 25 world-class game developers building on its platform, including pioneers Will Wright (SimCity, The Sims), Jeff Tunnell (Starsiege: Tribes, Social City), and Hi-Rez Studios (Smite, Paladins). An end-to-end solution for token-based game economies and NFTs, Forte creates new economic and creative opportunities for billions of people around the world.
Launched a little over a year ago, Forte builds necessary blockchain infrastructure for game developers, such as cryptocurrency wallets that store virtual assets and NFTs, in a secure, easy-to-use, and fully compliant package. Forte has achieved rapid growth, already creating more than 10 million wallets, minting over 5 million NFTs, and amassing over 8 million monthly active users across its partner games. Two of Cosmos’ core collaborators Tendermint and the Interchain Foundation (ICF) have joined forces to make this partnership possible.
With more than three billion gamers globally forecasted by 2023 and an explosion of interest around NFTs as in-game assets and collectibles, working with Forte will help propel Cosmos to a wider audience and cement our place as a leading blockchain ecosystem. We’ve already built the industry’s best tools like Cosmos SDK, Starport, and Ethermint that enable developers and entities to create their own sovereign chains and plug into our growing network. Now we want to make it easier for game developers to join Cosmos as well.
“With billions of gamers around the world and immense interest surrounding NFTs, the partnership with Forte will help propel Cosmos to a wider audience and solidify our place as a leading blockchain ecosystem. We have already built the industry’s best tools for blockchain development like Cosmos SDK and Starport. Now we want to make it easier for game developers and players to join the Cosmos community as well,” said Peng Zhong, CEO of Tendermint.
Cosmos developers will work with Forte to ensure that all third-party game developers on the Forte platform can access Cosmos’ technology and easily integrate their games with the Cosmos network. Forte will also add ATOM and other Cosmos-enabled currencies, such as stablecoins, to the Forte network to be used as payment, liquidity, or collateral for users, greatly increasing the utility of the ATOM token, and helping create a better experience for developers and players. Cosmos Hub wallets and accounts will also be integrated into the Forte wallet architecture.
“Forte and Cosmos share a vision of applications and economies built around passionate communities. Now that the technology is mature, I’m thrilled to work with Forte who can onboard the next generation of game developers and users, bringing Cosmos gaming to the mainstream,” said Billy Rennekamp, Grants Manager on the Board of Management at ICF.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Cosmos to bring their technologies to our community of developers, players, and fans,” said Josh Williams, Forte’s CEO and Cofounder. “Our alignment on scalability, usability, and interoperability makes them an ideal partner in building a more sustainable and equitable ecosystem for games, and the billions of people who play them.”
