Mark Terrel explains how he used a DNS cache in Docker to solve the problem in his open-source project AdaptJS. The default timeout for DNS server queries on Linux just happens to be 5 seconds. The solution was a Docker cache in order to isolate the DNS traffic within the host, within the DNS cache, and isolate the traffic. The cache is widely used, and super simple to set up all of our local DNS servers for our local testing, Terrel set up with a super simple super simple.
