My name is Daria Volkova. I work as the Head of Brand Marketing and Product Marketing Manager for web3, blockchain, and crypto products. With this article, I want to share my thoughts and recommendations on education for marketers who work or plan to work in the field of web3.


I started to learn blockchain marketing in 2017, in practice, without any preparation, and it was like a survival test. At that time, I worked in an advertising agency as a creator for brands and I wanted to try something new. I learned how PR works in the crypto industry, what mining is, why Bitcoin is so valuable, what tokenomics meant and how to write a whitepaper.


Now, I know quite a bit and as I learn more, I understand that I need to learn. I plan to systematize my knowledge via educational institutions and make it broader and more profound in technical aspects.


There is no single "best" education for marketers, as the field is broad and has many different specializations and career paths. Generally, a strong foundation in marketing principles and excellent communication and analytical skills are essential for success.


Marketers interested in utilizing web3 technologies, such as blockchain and decentralized applications, may benefit from learning about these technologies and how they can be used in marketing campaigns and strategies.


However, all marketers don't need to have special education in web3. Instead, you can benefit from a general understanding of these technologies and how they can be applied in their field, as well as staying up-to-date with the latest developments and trends in the industry.


Some options for getting education and knowledge in this area could include the following:

1️⃣ Pursuing a degree in marketing or a related field focusing on web3 technologies, such as blockchain or decentralized applications. For example, Harvard Business School, Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, Zigurat Global Insitute of Technology, and others.


2️⃣ Completing online courses or certification programs focused on web3 marketing. Many programs in US and EU concentrate on this field. For example, Blockchain Council, Web3 University, LearnWeb3, Buildspace, European Tech School, and others.


3️⃣ Gaining practical experience through internships or entry-level positions with companies utilizing web3 technologies.


4️⃣ Reading industry articles, attending conferences or workshops, and networking with other professionals in the field to stay up-to-date on the latest trends and best practices in web3 marketing. For example, my educational project — Blockchain Marketing, gives an understanding of specific points and tools for promoting web3 and blockchain products in English and Ukrainian.


The best education for marketers interested in web3 will depend on an individual's specific goals and needs and should involve a combination of formal education and practical experience.
