Discord has 100 million messages stored in DB, but guess what, the data could no longer able to fit in RAM, and latency becomes unpredictable. Discord decided to migrate to a new DB and they need a database that fulfills at least these requirements: Linear Scalability, Automatic failover, and Predictable Performance.
