Comments about DCS World Buyer’s Guide

Nice overview of high fidelity mods. I’m going to go against the grain here, and suggest not to skip the Flaming Cliffs 3 bundle.

For one I don’t really care for having a clickable cockpit. I don’t think this is an advantage personally. Clicking the cockpit with your mouse is not exactly a more realistic experience, it’s less realistic if anything. I try to avoid using the mouse as much as possible, and this is why I actually prefer FC3 modules. Even though I do fly planes like f18 a lot (which require a lot of clicking).

FC3 comes with some really unique and fun planes for not a lot of money. Personal stand outs for me are su25, a10a, su27 and f15. The su25 version is the version that’s in wide use in the world. The game comes with a free version of the su25t which was only made in a small number, and while su25t was more advanced it was also heavier with worse visibility. As far as air to ground missions go and ground pounding is concerned, very few planes are as fun as the su25 from the FC3 bundle.

The other underrated benefit of owning the FC3 bundle is that many community created mods are based on the FC3. And so a great value of this bundle is even more pronounced once you factor that in.

FC3 is quite simply very underrated. Hi fidelity modules are fine if you really want to study a plane. But for pure fun FC3 is unbeatable.
