The further implication is equally profound. We cannot list all the uses of an engine block alone or with other things. We also cannot list all the uses of a screwdriver alone or with other things. Therefore, we cannot use Set Theory or any mathematics based on set theory: The First Axiom of Set Theory is the Axiom of Extentionality, (45): “Two sets are equal if and only if they contain the same members”. But we cannot prove that the un-listable uses of an engine block are identical to the un-listable uses of a screwdriver. More the Axiom of Choice fails as well. The implication is huge: We can use no mathematics based on Set Theory – essentially all of mathematics – to deduce the future evolution of the biosphere. viii. No union and intersection of Sets. All classical physics, the physics of Newton, lives within the Newtonian Paradigm: i. State the relevant variables, for example position and momentum. ii. State the Laws of Motion in differential form connecting the relevant variables. Newton’s three laws of motion are an example. iii. Define the boundary conditions. These define the phase space of all possible combinations of values of the relevant variable. iv. State the initial conditions. v. Integrate the equations of motion to obtain the entailed determined single trajectory in the system’s phase space, (41,42,43). The Newtonian Paradigm is unchanged in Quantum Mechanics. Schrödinger’s wave equation is integrated to obtain the entailed trajectory of a probability distribution. Then measurement, typically held ontologically random, occurs, (42,43). It is fundamental to the entire Newtonian paradigm, hence of all modern physics, that the phase space must be specified beforehand, (42,43). We show next that the evolving biosphere of Kantian Wholes persistently creates novel phase spaces that cannot be deduced or determined ahead of time. The entire Newtonian paradigm collapses. The evolving biosphere cannot be explained by physics alone. Appeal to “function” is necessary. These issues are basic, (42,43): i. Once we have defined a Kantian Whole, the non-circular definition of the “function” of a Part is clear. The function of a part is that subset of its causal consequences that sustains the Whole. The function of your heart is to pump blood, not make heart sounds or jiggle water in your pericardial sac. ii. Selection acts at the level of the Kantian Whole organism, not its Parts. Selection does not directly select for hearts that are more efficient at pumping blood. Organisms that inherit such improved hearts are more likely to have offspring, thus improved hearts are indirectly selected. iii. You see it everywhere: emails, messages, posts, comments, and replies. Don’t have the time? Don’t know what to say? Afraid of saying the wrong thing? Want to say it the right way? Don’t worry; AI is here to help. Ask AI. Enhance it with AI. Write it with AI. Say it with AI. Just waste away at your capitalistic cubicle hellhole while “your dating ‘AI concierge’ dates hundreds of other people’s ‘concierges,’” as Bumble’s Whitney Wolfe Herd puts it! Why not let AI live your life for you while you’re at it? Don’t worry; it will give you a summary of what you should feel like at the end of the day at 2x speed so you do not waste any time actually living! The ubiquity and ease of using AI tools have led to a bizarre paradox: the more everyone tries to sound unique, the more they sound the same! Even those who don’t use AI and seem a bit more unique than others are often following someone else’s blueprint on how to be themselves! The little hope we got as people started to leave corporate speak behind and learned how to break through the tyranny of the algorithm is now drowned by the AI tsunami taking over every aspect of our lives. It’s giving rise to a new normal where everything we read or see is just good enough to trick us into thinking it’s original. A whole new world of fake personas swimming aimlessly in an endless sea of bland communication. Authored, filtered, and managed by machines trained to simulate intelligence just enough to make us believe there is a “there” when it’s all just an AI mirage. But this is not about purity; it’s about authenticity. Sure, use templates, copy the next guy who’s getting lots of likes, ask ChatGPT to write it for you, and get your team’s approval, as long as there is more of you in whatever you put out into the world. Even if you come off as boring, at least you’re boring because you’re being your boring self. Meet Dominic Vogel, a cyber risk expert who introduces himself as a “Positive Troll” and “Associated with Happiness.” He’s gained a reputation for his outrageously positive, creative, and uplifting comments, usually packed with as many emojis and exclamation points as he can sneak in! “Kady!!! He is his comments, his words, and whatever comes through his LinkedIn posts is who he really is in real life. Copycats can generate leads, results, and money while pretending to be someone else. But people living the truth of who they really build their businesses while forging timeless connections, making the hard work lasting relationships demand, and architecting a life worth living. In one of Dominic’s latest client interactions, the personal assistant to the CEO insisted they “must work with Dominic because his emails are better than therapy!” As AI continues to flatten skill levels and give everyone content-generation superpowers, what matters most is no longer how good you are. As algorithms fill our feeds with generative content, we will seek real moments of human touch and shared experiences beyond the many layers of AI polish. A real person with a distinct way of communicating, tone of voice, and a personal presence exists within each of us. All we need to do is give them permission. The magic may take time, but as we give permission for our authentic selves to show up, our circle of influence and impact will change. The people who were there for the digital double we made up while trying to sound good enough will be replaced with true engagement and real interactions with real people who are here for the person we really are. No matter how uncomfortable we may feel when all the made-up engagement is gone, we must remember there are millions of people to meet and know out there! So why would we ever want to be stuck dealing with people we do not like or care about? We must set them free by setting ourselves free to be who we really are. In 2015, Dr. Eric Lander, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) [1]-[2], was invited to the first National Math Festival to give a speech [3]. At the talk, Eric convinced the public how important fundamental research was, how wrong funding organizations were to overlook the value of those fundamental researches, and what they could finally earn from those researches. Eric realized that the U.S. government or any private sector would be careful on financial spending; since the beginning of the 2000s, the United States of America had been in a state of declining economic growth [4]. Even in Europe, some countries aimed to cut off their research funding and tended to relocate to some other social investments with a more obvious short-term payback than scientific research. Professor Dr. Eric Lander claimed that the criteria with which the projects for the country's economy and defense would be justified for funding was not applicable to the basic research. People usually had a wrong perception of how basic research would pay off in the long run. Apart from the initially intended number of financial returns, all unintended scientific discoveries have proved uncountable benefits throughout human history. He had given some examples of math, physics, and biology discoveries during the research and the high values in their today applications. In my opinion, after finishing Dr. Eric's transcription for the festival, I agree with him on the value of research and especially on the countless value of the discoveries along the way of the research. One research would lead to one discovery, and one discovery would lead to another research; and this cycle will continue, as Dr. Eric called it the Miracle Machine, the title of the talk on his Math Festival night. It is probably obscure that we cannot predict what we would find out while conducting research; however, in the end, we will definitely and eventually uncover some new concepts or ideas, according to Dr. Eric's context. Eric called for attention when either the government or any private business evaluates research for capital funding. Unlike other typical investments, ROI does not work for approving a budget for research. Back in the year 300 B.C., Euclid proved that there were an infinite set of prime numbers [5]. RSA cryptography was granted a U.S. patent in 1977 [6], and it has been globally used in cryptography for present-day banking, e-commerce, and secure communications [7]. We can ask ourselves - who would want to invest money in research that had a longer-than 2000 year payback. It did not even pay off in one's life. People may overlook or ignore if they do not understand what the research was for. I would suggest the government or a company isolates the budget for basic research from the capital pool if never done before. This would guarantee the funding for research. We do not let basic research share the ROI policy with the national strategic projects. Congress may set up board committees from academic institutions, university professors, or patent reviewers to make a list of potential research topics and make justification not based on short-term ROI reasoning. In short, I positively support Dr. Eric's observations. I appreciate all math and scientific researches and discoveries done in the past; and their applications. I also see that not all researches are good fundamental researches. ROI and some other financial tools may not be able to tell much about the research value. A Board of academic experts probably can give a reliable justification for the research; however again, we would not know what we would find out not until the research started.
