As the CEO of InFlux Technologies (Flux), I lead the world's largest decentralized compute network, with over 13,000 systems of administrators and enterprise nodes spanning 81 countries. What excites me most is working with disruptive technologies that are transforming industries in real time. I’m passionate about staying at the forefront of innovation, helping to foster growth, and supporting the development of groundbreaking technologies that have the potential to change how we live and work. 2. How did you get started with your Tech Career? I started my tech journey in the healthcare and nonprofit sectors, where resources were limited, and I often had to innovate with minimal tools due to the high costs of technology. That experience taught me how to create impactful solutions with limited resources, a mindset I’ve carried throughout my career. It’s this focus on accessible, transformative technology that ultimately led me to what I do today with InFlux Technologies, where we are building solutions that empower people globally. 3. If Utopia were a color what color do you think it’d be and why? I might be a bit biased, but I truly believe that Flux blue represents the ideal color for the future! What sets our product apart is that it’s designed with the everyday person in mind. Our motto, "for the people, by the people," drives everything we do. Honestly, I’d keep it just the way it is—just make sure that the great interactions with developers and the team stay as engaging as ever on the blog! 5. Tell us more about the things you write/make/manage/build! We’re building the technology delivery framework for the next evolution of the internet—which is pretty wild when you think about it. The internet has transformed drastically since its inception, and the original vision of it being a town square is long gone. Creating a system that doesn’t rely on massive data centers or big tech providers is a game-changer. It’s the key to decentralizing power and shaping the future of the internet and technology as we know it. 6. What’s your favorite thing about the internet? The internet used to be accessible and relatively unrestricted for everyone, but that’s no longer the case as we witness increasing deplatforming and censorship every day. As a cypherpunk at heart, I strongly believe that freedom of speech and code is essential. That’s why I’m drawn toward a decentralized, community-driven platform, rather than relying on large data providers who have become the disruptors. 7. It’s an apocalypse of ‘walking dead’ proportions and you can only own a singular piece of technology, what would it be? One of those really old clickety keyboards—you could knock a few zombies out with that thing! 8. What is your least favorite thing about the internet? My least favorite thing is how the internet is now dominated by a few major players like Google and Microsoft. I believe it’s time to return to our roots and start developing the next iteration of the internet—one where individuals can control and monetize their own data, rather than being products of these tech giants. 9. If you were given $10 million to invest in something today what would you invest in and why? InFlux Technologies / Flux, naturally. 10. What’s something you’re currently learning or excited to learn? Recently with the release of our FluxAI, I’m starting to dig down the rabbit hole of truly what AI can do long-term and strategically. AI frightens many, but it is an unbelievable opportunity for all of us. Suspending more time researching how decentralization and AI can work together is absolutely one of the coolest things I've ever done. 11. Would you rather travel 10 years into the past or 10 years into the future? Give reasons for your answer. What if I tell you I don’t want to do either one of those things. I am very content with being where I’m at right now and watching how things are materializing. Going back 10 years would make you start over again. Rolling for 10 years, you would miss lots of opportunities so maybe I’m just old-fashioned but I like right where we’re at today! 12. How do you feel about AI? I’m not someone who views AI with doom and gloom. Instead, I believe it represents an unbelievable opportunity to expand many technologies and also the human race. I don’t believe in dystopian scenarios or that the Eagle Borg is going to take over and terminate all of us. I think the opportunities far outweigh the risks. But what if that assumption is wrong? What if these technologies were indeed inherently political, meant to orchestrate our ways of living, working, and interacting, whether we realized it or not? The Myth of Technological Neutrality For many of us, the idea that technology is neutral is a comforting notion. It lets us focus on the exciting benefits of innovations without worrying too much about the potential downsides. However, some scholars argue that this belief is simply a myth. Technologies, they say, are not just passive tools. They are active agents in shaping society and carrying with them values, ideologies, and power dynamics. One of the best arguments against technological neutrality came from the political theorist Langdon Winner. He asked, "Do artifacts have politics?" Work like Winner's has argued that technologies are far from neutral—they can enforce specific social structures and power relations simply by how they are designed and implemented. For instance, blockchains are a digital ledger technology that has swept the planet by storm for their purported potential to decentralize politics by removing the need for central authorities like banks or governments. On the face of it, blockchain technology could serve as a perfect candidate to promote equality and fairness. However, things start getting complicated once we get beyond the surface level. Blockchain: A Tool for Decentralization or a New Means of Control? Blockchain technology, which is best known for powering cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, has been widely hailed as potentially revolutionary—a tool that will democratize access to financial services and empower individuals. By allowing peers to transact with each other without having to go through an intermediary, blockchain promises to reduce reliance on centralized institutions and give people more control over their assets. Yet, as with any technology, the way blockchain is used and who controls its implementation can lead to very different outcomes. For instance, though it has the potential to disrupt traditional power structures, it can also entrench existing inequalities. If only a tiny tech-savvy elite can understand and control blockchain systems, then the technology may actually serve to further centralize power rather than distribute it. This brings us to an important question: How can we ensure that blockchain and other digital technologies are used to empower people, rather than just serving the interests of those already in power? The Civic Potential of Blockchain: The Case of CommonsHood One intriguing example of blockchain being used for social good is the CommonsHood project in Turin, Italy. Developed by the Computer Science Department at the University of Turin, CommonsHood is a blockchain-based wallet app designed to empower local communities by enabling them to manage resources in a decentralized way. In contrast to many blockchain applications that focus on global financial markets, CommonsHood is based on the specific needs of local communities. The project aims to equip citizens, local businesses, and civic organizations with a tool to issue and manage digital tokens for several uses: fundraising for a community project, trading services among residents, or even rewarding volunteers. Its focus on social equality and inclusion sets CommonsHood apart from other blockchain projects. The project is designed to be accessible to everyone, not just those with advanced technical skills. This design choice ensures that all members of the community, from small business owners to civic organizations, can participate in and benefit from the decentralized economy that CommonsHood seeks to create. For instance, a local civic association could use CommonsHood to crowd-fund a new community center. Instead of using something like Kickstarter, which takes a significant cut of the funds raised on its platform, the association could issue cryptographic tokens through CommonsHood. These could be redeemed by people who want to access services from the new center. Recently, my friend with a strong desire to make a difference in the world and deeply interested in the political future of society—asked me a question that sounded both paradoxical and provocative: “How can corruption be put to work for the state?” At first glance, the idea of using corruption as a tool for the state’s benefit seems controversial, but it raises an important question about the nature of governance and approaches to achieving public good in modern societies. These reflections, however, led me to another, more interesting idea: that the best path to building a prosperous society for everyone is through integrating economic growth and environmental protection as equal goals, handing these tasks over to technologies that will emerge very soon. I am convinced that only artificial general intelligence (AGI) can reliably and effectively manage the achievement of these two essential objectives in the future. But let’s start with corruption, one of the most deeply rooted problems in various countries. Corruption can be found in both democratic and authoritarian systems, in nations with high and low levels of development. It functions as a parallel power structure, where personal interests replace public ones and distort democratic principles. In research Corruption and Government: Causes, Consequences, and Reform, Susan Rose-Ackerman and Bonnie J. Palifka emphasize that corruption infiltrates even those structures meant to uphold justice and transparency, undermining public trust in institutions—a phenomenon we can observe in many countries, such as Russia, China, and North Korea. Transparency International, which publishes the Corruption Perceptions Index annually, confirms that fighting corruption remains a pressing issue on a global scale. Despite the efforts of anti-corruption organizations and reformers, corruption often remains a persistent and seemingly unavoidable part of political systems. It is worth noting that history has seen attempts at “managed” corruption, where instead of eradicating it completely, authorities aimed to minimize its harmful effects. For example, in some authoritarian regimes, corruption is tolerated as a way to maintain elite loyalty and system stability. Michael Johnston, in his book Syndromes of Corruption: Wealth, Power, and Democracy, explores the phenomenon of corruption and argues that such “managed” corruption may temporarily help sustain stability but ultimately deepens social inequality and increases public dissatisfaction in the long run. In short, corruption cannot be turned into something beneficial, as the idea of "useful" corruption encounters several fundamental issues: Ethical contradictions. Legalizing corruption or using it for state purposes undermines principles of justice and equality. Such a system becomes vulnerable and loses legitimacy.


Economic inefficiency. Corruption leads to resource waste and reduces the effectiveness of government management.


Social inequality. Corruption deepens social divides, as resources meant to improve life for all citizens are redirected to benefit a narrow group of individuals. An interesting aspect of our discussion is that the ideal economic model for humanity should combine sustainable economic development with environmental protection. The United Nations, through its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizes that only balanced and sustainable economic growth can improve quality of life on the planet while minimizing environmental impact. Thus, a crucial aspect here is the integration of economic growth with environmental goals, which modern scientists and researchers already consider the only path to long-term well-being. Economist Jeffrey D. Sachs, in his book The Age of Sustainable Development, argues that a society’s happiness can be measured not only by GDP growth but also by its level of environmental sustainability, air and water quality, access to green spaces, and social equality. The combination of these factors helps create a society in which each individual feels part of a shared prosperity, while the environment remains viable for future generations. But what does AGI, technocracy, and the coming technological revolution have to do with this? In light of the above conclusions about corruption and the challenges of sustainable development, it’s clear that traditional management models, based on human decisions, are often unable to effectively address issues of sustainable growth. Sadly, people alone cannot fully help people. Modern technologies, especially artificial intelligence, have the potential to offer more flexible and precise solutions. I argue that AGI will be capable of managing the economy by striking a balance between economic growth and environmental sustainability. In book Life 3.0: Being Human in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, Max Tegmark notes that AGI will be able to process massive amounts of statistical data, which is essentially what the economy is built on—data analysis and interpretation. Works like The Second Machine Age by Erik Brynjolfsson and Andrew McAfee emphasize that AI has the potential to transform the management of social and economic processes, helping to reduce the impact of human weaknesses and biases.
