Per reports, more than 80% of central banks around the world are exploring CBDCs. At some point, we can expect digital versions of international currencies like the dollar or yen to replace physical cash.
But there are massive trade-offs to the introduction of CBDCs. Not only will they lead to a loss of personal privacy, but governments will use them as tools of financial discrimination. Other risks of using CBDCs include potential data breaches, destabilization of financial institutions, and loss of security.
